i know a lot of people have mentioned this, but i’m just obsessed with the way taylor refused to sanitize herself on this album. she’s telling you everything. she got off to gross men whilst already in another relationship. she fell for the most obvious lies because she wanted to believe them. she was mad at anyone who tried to warn her. yes, she’s still mad at you for clutching your pearls and watching her like a circus animal btw. she’s having his baby—no she’s not! she just likes trolling. she does really want babies, though. like a lot. she felt like she’d been abducted by aliens and found cosmic love, but in reality, she was manic. and then he fucking ghosted her! and he didn’t even measure up in any measure of a man!!!!! and now she’s devastated by him and his predecessor! she feels like a wondrous prophet one day and the desperate victim of a curse the next. btw he knows how to ball and she knows aristotle. and fuck kim k! also man sex with certain men kinda fucked her up, but at least the writing that came from it defined her legacy. the manuscript isn’t hers anymore. she hopes this insane ass manuscript won’t have to be hers, either! free her of these stories.

There's something so so healing in Taylor writing about the way her love with Travis makes her feel so youthful in So High School after writing "and I'm pissed off you let me give you all that youth for free" in So Long, London

Taylor calls herself crazy all throughout TTPD, but maybe I’m just as insane because I actually think she’s quite normal? Because if I ended a once happy 8 year relationship because the love was gone and we were both no longer in love to then get with a situation-ship who has been pinning for you for years only for them to abandon you when they finally got you, I’d commit full arson.

I literally can’t stop thinking about how the literal FIRST lyrics we ever heard about Joe were “Knew he was a killer first time that I saw him” and then spends every song on TTPD about how loving him was literally killing her. Idk idk idk

the most interesting part of this album is that it begs the question of why taylor must only tell stories that are palatable to us. people not liking matty doesn’t mean it happened any less. and just because people don’t want to hear it doesn’t mean she’s obligated not to tell it? idk, it’s just a really interesting thing to think about and is imo the genesis of the fame throughline on the album.

I actually think reducing interpretations of songs down to if it’s about Joe or mh does a massive disservice to what this is…taylor is finally centering herself. It’s about the themes of those life events not those people specifically. Things are now way bigger and more intertwined and complicated that clean chapters per person. Someone one time posted something about how women in our 30’s are finally no longer constantly perceived by men so we learn to live outside the male gaze…this album is Taylor’s gaze
