Hands Up:
Artist Statement:
For this project, I wanted to go delve into the meaning of "hands up." With all of these racial issues exposed in the United States right now, I found it important to draw a connection to the gesture. I wanted there to be clear tension from the first gif to the last. The series is meant to make people think differently about racial issues, and how throwing your hands in the sky can either be an act of survival or pure pleasure and fun.

Artist Statement
Performance art is one of my favorite categories of art. It allows the artist to use him or herself as an object to portray a message. For this project, I wanted to use myself as a prop. The black and white clothes symbolize a clear binary, where the sunglasses act as a barrier. I wanted to make the audience think about reality, and what it means to them. We are constantly stuck in routine. This performance breaks those norms, and blatantly throws it in the faces of the viewers. I had a lot of fun coming up with my concepts. Most of them stemmed from the abstract ways of Marina Abromavic from the movie we watch, The Artist is Present. Through collaboration, I landed on this idea- simple yet gives a meaningful message.

Reading Response #5
After reading Roselle's essay on performance art, I have a much better understanding about the history, and origin of "live art." There is a mutual underlying rule that performance art can be whatever you want it to be. It does not fit into any sort of category of previous art, and stands alone as its own way of interacting with performer and viewers. Performance art is what the artist makes it out to be. It is a live action. Marina Abramovic has a very interesting way of performing, and interacting with the audience at hand, especially in her performance The Artist is Present. The film depicts Marina to be a mirror almost so the audience can see into her soul-- and back into their own. I really enjoyed this film. I knew of her piece prior to watching the movie, and ended up learning so much more about her message, and the over all struggles of being a performance artist. Going into our next assignment, I am going to play around with the abstract ideas that Marina had. I want to make something that would make people think-- such as Marina did in the movie. Over all, I learned a lot from her performance, which in turn will elevate my abilities to produce my own work.

Mongol mix Artist’s statement I have created one minute video for project #4. I have create a traditional Mongolian clip and tried to create a surrealistic feeling in to it. I have included several tracks of Mongolian traditional singing: Khuumii and Urtiin Duu. I have also included clip of a dance that is originated in Mongolia and is performed by only Mongolians till this day. The other dancer that appears on the video is buddhist ritual dancer. I have used several effects from Adobe Premier Pro to make the video more complex.

This series of gifs delves into several different parts of my life, and the extension of what I want to do later in life. Scrolling through photos on my phone, I picked out several videos that showcase my life within the last few months. From there I picked out other photos that in turn prompted me to find similar video stream online. Most of my other gifs came from several go-pro commercials. I've always have wanted to use gopro in my art, and found this approach much more manageable.
