Congrats to Yuuto Uemura!
Tumblr media
I know I'm over a month late, but he got married!
I wish the voice of Atsushi to continue living the good life!
"Thank you always for your support. I apologize for the inconvenience, but I, Yuuto Uemura, would like to announce that I have gotten married," he said in a handwritten post. "I have been blessed with a new relationship and have resolved to move forward. Although I am still inexperienced, I will never forget my gratitude to everyone and will strive to grow even further as an actor and artist. I would be grateful if you could watch over me warmly. Thank you for your continued support," Uemura continued.

Yuichiro Umehara has been married for years (apparently) to his college friend. He agreed with his agency to keep his public and private lives separate. Congrats to him! 7 years late!
(I love how they blurred the umbrella)

People are now saying that Ryuuou no Oshigoto is now canon, but I like to forget that anime exists sometimes. I'll know them as Kyou from Furuba and Ririchiyo from Inu x Boku.

17th Seiyu Awards
This year's Seiyu Award ceremony was the first in-person one in three years, and it's also the first year that they made the awards completely gender-neutral which is a decision I can get behind. With each of the awards, I will be putting one notable role each from this past year or so, but I won't be putting any for some awards. I might put my thoughts under some, but I don't want to clog this post with too much uselessness.
Best Leading Voice Actor Award:
Chika Anzai
Tumblr media
Takuya Eguchi
He also won the Most Valuable Seiyuu Award.
Tumblr media
Atsumi Tanezaki
Tumblr media
Best Supporting Voice Actor Award
Shuuichi Ikeda
Tumblr media
Ryotaro Okiayu
Tumblr media
Atsumi Tanezaki
Tumblr media
Best Rookie Voice Actor Award
Shuuichiro Umeda
Tumblr media
Hina Suguta
Tumblr media
Anna Nagase
Tumblr media
Minami Hinata
Tumblr media
Shion Wakayama
Tumblr media
Best Foreign Film / Drama Award
Shihori Kanjiya
Toshiyuki Morikawa
Note: He is the official dub-over for Tom Cruise. Top Gun: Maverick was really popular in America (even getting nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars)
Best Singer Award: Nijigasaki High School Idol Club
Influencer Award: Natsuki Hanae
His cats released a photobook.
Kei Tomiyama Award: Junichi Suwabe
Kids/Family Award: Ikue Otani & Rica Matsumoto
Considering that Matsumoto played Ash (Satoshi) in Pokemon, it is only fitting to give her and Otani (the voice of Pikachu) the best sendoff possible (although, Pikachu will remain in the cast).
Best Synergy Award: Jujutsu Kaisen
I totally thought this was going to go to Lycoris Recoil, but Jujutsu Kaisen is very popular. I still don't know if they're recasting Geto due to recent news though.

The 17th Seiyu Awards have announced that it will be using gender neutral terms for its awards and ceremony.
The Executive Committee of the Seiyuu Awards, in consideration of respect for diversity and gender-free, has held discussions over the past few years, and as a result, integrated the male and female divisions in the main, supporting, and newcomer divisions established since the first Seiyuu Awards. We have decided to change the name to:
Best Actor Award / Best Actress Award ⇒ Best Voice Actor Award Best Supporting Actor Award
Best Supporting Actress Award ⇒ Best Supporting Voice Actor Award
New Actor Award / New Actress Award ⇒ New Voice Actor Award
Of course, voice acting is a career that transcends gender, such as women voicing male characters and vice versa.
By doing this, we believe that it will be easier to focus on the fact that it is an award for voice actors and to clearly convey the intention of the award.
We have decided to change the name of the category in order to spread recognition of voice actors, which is the purpose of the award, and to contribute to raising the status of voice actors.
I personally think that's a very bold move of them. Some are concerned that this means that there will be fewer awards given out, but there have been multiple winners for the newbie awards and support actors/actresses in previous years, so I think they are capable of giving multiple out.

Update: Okay, so it turns out he also wasted 15 years of this other woman's life.
I sincerely hope all THREE women get the justice they deserve.
Tumblr media
During my usual Twitter crusade, I came across news that Takahiro Sakurai, a very well-known Japanese VA has been caught in a cheating scandal with his script writer even though this dude has been married for over 10 years.
It's pretty disheartening to hear well-known VA (be it Japanese, English whatever language there is) and who happened to voice popular characters that we know of are caught doing something awful.

(I got a Tumblr pal who really likes Yuichiro Umehara)
This is to promote Spy Classroom.
Note: There are more gravure shots of him if you click the link that's in the tweet, but I'm a family-friendly blog sometimes, so I don't plan on posting them unless someone requests.
