“As much as you are a magnificent view when you are blushing, I don’t try to make you do it… Yet,” he answered with a lifted brow, though there was that playful spark in his eyes. Wei could easily spend all his days just having that light talk with his husband, feeling almost like when he first time realized that he fell for the other. He smiled sweetly and soft at Aaron, tilting his head a little. “Oh, how lovely of you, I’m flattered,” the wolf purred, playing with his empty mug. “Will you buy me a candy, too, then? Open doors for me?” he added in playful and warm tone.

“As long as you don’t make me sit through anything really strange” promised Aaron. “I really wish Hollywood would stop making science fiction movies that I can’t understand.” The absolute worst was anything involving time travel and paradoxes. Those confused the Hell out of him. “Otherwise I’ll spend the whole movie asking you to explain what is happening.” He shot his husband a smirk.

“Tell me about it, I swear my stress levels dropped dramatically when I saw the shopping wasn’t too horrendous here,” Nova agreed, a grimace on her face at the mere thought of that being the reality. If it was, they just might of had to make their peace with her doing her part in the experiment through correspondence. “Oh, absolutely, I thrive on the adrenaline rush and thrill from physically shopping - plus who wants to waste money on travel or postage when it could be much better spent going towards another pair of shoes or new lipstick.” 

“”Exactly” agreed Carmen. “Why pay for shipping and handling when that money can go towards a cute purse?” Granted, a lot of web sites had free shipping if you were a member. Which was always worthwhile. “Plus, when you are in a store, you get to make sure it fits perfectly before you buy it.” Not that most things Carmen bought didn’t fit her well.

“Oh, I don’t understand that trend at all,” Wei frowned with a slightly disgusted expression. “If I would like to know in what people sleep, I would ask, no need to throw it right into my face.” And well, some of these people really don’t smell clean, so wolf was mostly on edge of barring his teeth at them. At the next words, he chuckled gently. “I can only imagine that… though I did enjoy that movie,” he admitted with a little struggle. “Yeah, well, maybe they would just give up and use ‘Mickey’. Though… Mazikeen sounds much better.” 

“If I wanted to know what people slept in, I would just invite them over for a slumber party” said Blair. “But I haven’t had that urge since I was 14.” Granted, her sleepovers had always been epic. But still. “Would you believe I’ve never seen it?” she asked. “I’m not really a horror movie sort of girl.” She preferred a good romantic comedy, as cliched as that was. “Either way, there’s no chance the baristas aren’t making jokes behind their back.”

“Depends which dead person you speak with, some might complain about the fact that they’re dead.” Tobias wasn’t as in touch with his witch side, he hadn’t been since he was a teenager. He wasn’t sure of what kind of topics she shared with the ancestors but he was assuming it wasn’t all that interesting. “Now you only have yourself to blame if you get trapped in a boring conversation by surrounding yourself with people who walk around hating life. Seems to me you have to extend your social circle or get a new one. And what better way than going out with your loving brother.”  

“Only the newly dead usually harp on about that” said Rhiannon. It was true. Most of the ancestors had been dead long enough to get used to it by now. At his comments she rolled her eyes. “Are you both putting insulting me and asking me to be your wing chick in the same breath?” she asked “Because that’s pretty much what it sounds like.” Not that she should have expected anything else.

“You can’t kill someone if you hit them with a bat, can you?” The tone came off as if he was joking when in reality he was more than tempted to use it, just to get the money he was owed. 

“That probably depends on where and how often you hit them” said Julian with a shrug. “A better person would probably be concerned that you are asking such a question.” But in all these years of being alive, Julian had learned sometimes it was better to remain in the dark.

Rikki: I handed it to a barista while getting coffee in the drive thru and they dropped my phone.

David: And is the barista going to replace your phone? Or should I pull one out of my top hat along with a rabbit?

“Don’t worry, I can protect myself just fine,” the wolf smiled amused, watching her closely. His dark eyes moved down at her shirt and he nodded lightly. “Indeed, it would be such a west of a great top,” he added, looking up at her face again. Wei chuckled at her words, shaking his head a little. “Blair is a perfect name… maybe they are not a fan of The Blair Witch Project?” he said in a light tone, just a joke. “Now I’m tempted to go with Mazikeen.”

“Yeah, I try to not leave the house looking like I’m wearing my pajamas” said Blair. “I never really got that trend.” Seriously, nobody wanted to see anybody else’s pajamas. “Oh, don’t get me started on that film” she said. “You would not believe the number of bad jokes I was subjected to when that movie came out.” She cringed just at the thought. Then she laughed. “I pity any kindergartner with that name, trying to learn how to spell it.”

“Yup,” Mikael agreed easily, smiling with a wink. He was much more of a person that learned from their mistakes rather than follow someone else words. “Dads weren't happy about that,” he added with a chuckle, shaking his head. The witch was never ashamed of his family and always ready to fight anybody who tried to say something bad about them. “Okay, so I have that crazy proposition, but I swear, I’m totally sane,” Mika sen her way another little smirk.”Would you do me that honor and clean some graves with me? Nothing big, just get the left of nature off the stone, you know, leaves and all that… Throw away old candles, things like that,” he struggled slightly. The idea pops out in his mind as he was looking around, thinking how fucking sad it was. “Rihannon, that’s a nice name! And aah, I’m sure all pleasure is mine.” 

Whatever Rhiannon had been expecting him to ask her, that wasn’t it. But she quickly nodded her head. “Sure, I wouldn’t mind” she said. “The dead deserve our respect, you know?” She’d always felt more comfortable with the ancestors than she did with the living. Sure, they could be scary if you pissed them off. But they were also the source of her magic, and she respected that. “Thanks” she said with a smile. “I suppose there are worse pop culture names to have.” The name Renesmee immediately came to mind.

Aaron: Yes, that certainly sounds bizarre. And no, we didn't have sex. Someone must have slipped you a random number.

“Thank you,” the redhead beamed. Anyone who approved or complimented her fashion sense was just fine in her books. “I did.” One of the first things Nova had done when she and her wife had moved was treat herself to a small shopping spree. “I can’t for the life of me remember what it’s called, but I got this from a little store a few blocks away from here, actually.” 

“Well, it suits you” said the brunette with an approving nod. “I’m glad there’s some decent shopping here.” The experiment could have been out in the middle of nowhere, after all. And then she would have had to order everything online. “As much fun as Internet shopping is, nothing beats the rush of shopping in a store.”

“That would be a tragedy of epic proportions. I can’t be bothered to,” she bantered back. Katerina, however, still carried that guilt around. She knew how much he loved being a witch. He could have taken the serum, but he chose her. Their life. “Yeah, well, you know I try to make eternity seem attractive.”

“You’ve succeeded so far” said Julian. He loved Katerina more than life itself - literally. “Besides, I have a feeling divorcing you would be very expensive.” He said in that voice of his, the one that those who knew him well could tell he was joking. “We’d spend the next century arguing over who got holidays with the kids.”

“Don’t remind me, it will be a nightmare,” the wolf sighed, shaking his head slightly. He took a sip of his coffee, watching his husband with glittering eyes. “That’s true… And even better for me that is not your only positive ability,” Wei said, tilting his head and lifting a brow with a playful smile. Flirting was always easy and nice, but in the past, it misleads many people about Wei. He was happy that with Aaron he doesn’t need to justify himself, his words, manners, and sexuality. His fingers moved on the mug in a smooth motion as he finished his coffee and put it down on the table. “There is always something I would like to do, but most of it can wait. We could take it slow today, go for a walk or movie or whatever kids these days do on dates. What do you think?”

“Are you trying to make me blush?” asked Aaron with a playful smile. “Because if you are, I think you’re gonna to have to try better than that.” He loved the moments like this, where he could just be alone with his husband and not have to think about the outside world. Things had changed a lot in the 50+ years they’d been married, but old habits died hard and it had taken him a long time to learn that he could flirt with his husband in public without worrying about what other people did. “A movie sounds good” he said after a moment. “I’ll even let you pick, since it was your idea.” He shot his husband a flirty wink.

“I could pretend I didn’t fully support that statement, but.. “ She trailed off, a small grin tugging at her lips. “My month would only be ruined if the coffee stained and effectively ruined my clothing, God forbid.” Nova mused, absentmindedly gesturing to her outfit. It might just be workout gear, but the redhead got even that high end; fashion was easily a passion of hers.

“That would be a shame” said Carmen in agreement. “Because your outfit is pretty cute.” The redhead’s wardrobe had not been lost on the brunette, who always noticed such things. “Did you buy that from around here?” Carmen was always asking women on the street where they got their outfits when she thought they looked nice.

Dion didn’t carry many habits over from his mortal days. But he did love the smell of coffee, and the way the cup felt in his hands. The warmth was comforting, the scent was soothing, and even the lines that had evolved into something radical gave him a few moments alone with himself. He glanced around when he heard the woman’s voice from behind him, and motioned. “Not everyone. There are a few billion people who are elsewhere.”

“True” said Blair, showing a small smile. “When I said everyone, I mostly meant everyone within the Wilmington area.” Then she sighed with frustration. “Honestly, don’t they realize some of us have places to be today?” If the baristas in this place moved any slower, they’d be going backwards. Granted, Blair’s plans for the day weren’t anything special. But that didn’t mean she wanted to spend all day in a cafe either.

“Absolutely. I don’t regret a thing about it,” she confirmed with a chuckle. Katerina knew she wasn’t altogether easy to live with or be married to. Some days, she marveled Julian’s patience with her. “That and the fact you literally became a vampire for me.” 

“Well, we certainly wouldn’t want you to have to break in a new man” said Julian with a wink. At the mention of becoming a vampire, however, he stopped joking around. “I became a vampire for us” he clarified. Giving up his magic hadn’t been a decision he’d made lately, but he knew when he made that choice that he loved Katerina and wanted to spent eternity with her.

“Oh fuck, please, don’t remind me of school,” Mikael struggled with a chuckle, looking away for a moment. “Yeah, had a lot of fun,” he grinned to her, making a few steps to stand more on the woman’s side than behind. Raising his hand to run fingers through the mess of his hairs, the witch looked at neglected graves again, nodding slowly. “Yeah,” he murmured, frowning a little bit. “Hey, do you have some free time to spare?” Mika asked, looking at her again. “And shit, I forgot. I’m Mikael, nice to meet you and all that.”

“Not a big fan of the book-learning, I take it” said Rhiannon with a smile. That she could relate to. Although she wasn’t a bad student, she’d always been something of an outsider. She was a witch, she has two moms, and she was a lesbian. Not a whole lot of people shared that life experience. She thought for a moment, then nodded her head. “Yeah, I’m not really doing anything important.” It wasn’t like the ancestors were going anywhere. “And don’t worry about it. I forgot too.” She laughed at herself. “I’m Rhiannon. Nice to meet you too.”
