arms folded across erin’s chest, eyes still fixed on the statue in front of them. “it’s like… i need to look away, but i just can’t.” she’d never really been one to spend a lot of time learning about art –– in her world, ugly was ugly, and this? this was ugly. “oh i don’t. if i know this town, and i do, it’ll be vandalised by tomorrow. it’ll look like something else entirely. my money’s on clown.”

IT’S LIKE A CAR ACCIDENT ― you want to look away but you physically can’t. ( which might be a bad metaphor but it’s the first she could think of. ) she lets out a joyous laugh, grin spreading at the mental image of how the statue could look like. ❝ oh, clown’s a good guess. i bet it will be something completely unrecognizable and totally ridiculous. but whatever it’ll be, it’ll definitely look better than this ... maybe i should vandalize it myself. ❞ she’s just joking, of course, although it would be a fun thing to do.

❝ I ... I HAVE NO IDEA. ❞ but she couldn’t agree more. this thing was ugly ― offensively so. sure, art was subjective and always in the eyes of the beholder ( she should know that; after all, she went to more than enough art galleries to form an opinion on that ) but this thing was not it. far from it. ❝ i feel kinda bad for whoever had to design this, though. i doubt they're very proud of it. ❞

“Are you still looking for that Marine Biology book, @seasurvived· ?” he’d heard her mention it in their mutual class, quick to look it up at the store he works at afterwards. Arthur sets his bag on the table she’s at to lean over slightly, “If you are, my store has it, and it’s a lot cheaper than what the campus store would offer you, like always,” a beat, “And, well, we actually have it, too,” his teeth scrape over his lower lip, “I can ask my boss to hold if for you, if you want?”

EYES WIDEN IN SURPRISE, a little confused at first as to how he found out about this. oh, well. not one to be too distracted by little details like that, she gives him a simple nod and a hum of agreement then. ❝ wait, really ? ❞ technically, she shouldn’t be all that shocked by this. their campus store isn’t always the greatest when it came to certain things ― especially books that not a lot of people seem to have need for. ❝ yes ! i mean that would be really great if you could do that. but only if it’s not too much trouble. and i promise i’ll go pick it up as soon as i can. ❞

give me two characters who are each other’s home. two characters who feel completely safe, warm and protected in each other’s presence, and who are completely respected by the other. two people who, on some level or another, were missing that little extra spark they needed to feel fully confident and accepted as their whole selves until the other came along. they don’t “fix each other” or “make each other better”–they give the other the support they need to build on what was already inside them. sure they might kiss, or make goo-goo eyes, but they can also just…talk, and make each other laugh and smile, because for once they feel comfortable enough in themselves and with each other to be vulnerable in that way. two complete people who finally find someone to share all of themselves with. and no matter what they do or how far they go, they’ll always have each other to come back home to.
