The room they’re holed up in appears to be an area to invite guests for tea or small meetings. Zuko’s lying on top of a pile of floor cushions, and when Katara presses her palm and sinks into it, she realizes it’s stuffed with feathers. And then she realizes where she is, trapped in the Fire Nation’s palace in the heart of the capital of her sworn enemy. But the enemy is no longer an enemy, just a collection of people who hurt others and a collection of people who get caught in the crosshairs.
Katara doesn’t know how long she spends healing Zuko but there’s no doubt the damage to his heart will take time. She wonders if he might fall into a coma much in the same way Aang did after Ba Sing Se, and based on how his heart stutters and his chi pathways struggle to realign, it might be a very real possibility.
