There was a saying that the mind and the body are two separate entities, while its definition may be philosophical in nature, there are people who are simple-minded enough to agree with this sort of thinking after experiencing something akin to the mind and body wanting two separate things. A common example is your body doing the exact opposite of what your mind is telling you to do—it was a topic of debate among thinkers as they argued how the notion brought in even more questions but Ratio was more inclined to stick to what he believed was true.
For people who are in pursuit of knowledge, the truth and facts are their bloodline. For some concepts, it was hard to determine the truth hidden behind theories that have yet to be proven. Of course, it would be far easier for someone to believe in something after experiencing it for themselves. As idiotic as it may sound, there was a certain experience that led Ratio to thinking about whether it was true if the body and mind were two separate things.
Well, enough to the point that he thought very, very carefully about it.
The chain of events was quite simple. Rational as he was, Ratio knew how to practice self-control and figure out what things were appropriate and what weren't during different situations. He never had any problems with that kind of mindset, discipline was one of the key factors to keeping a good mind after all.
Although, perhaps, there was an excess of desire somewhere that urged his body to move despite his mind telling him that it was unnecessary. Mere flesh—is what he liked to say about his physical body. Although he reduced it to being mere, there was no denying that the medium that his mind uses was important. And physical bodies came with physical needs; he figured that the excess of desire came from that physical need his body demanded.
Even though it was unnecessary—and extremely stupid—his body started moving before his mind could grasp each and every nerve on his body to stop him from reaching for you. And when skin met skin, it was ridiculous how his mind started thinking that this was what he wanted after all.
After that point, it was difficult to practice restraint—both body and mind were now clouded by the same thing. With hands that refused to leave your sides, and with lips that kept sliding over yours, it was only a matter of time before rationality would be swept aside.
The mind and body were truly things that people thought about. Ratio thought to himself as his lips trailed down to your jaw, the factual explanation that went through his head wasn't scientific. Perhaps it was because of his body's excess desire but he thought like a simpleton, like an idiot.
The reason for this was quite simple all along in contrast to what he thought it would be. He just wanted to touch you.
Love dragged him down to the same level as you but, ah, he'll let it slide this time. He's much more preoccupied with something else anyway, it would irk him if he didn't finish it first.

I sometimes think about how Fontaine is just a giant biblical allegory???
Like Focalors/Furina/Noovy is God/Jesus/the Holy Spirit. Fontaine’s existence is an original sin and they had to “drown” in water to be reborn + then Wrio’s giant boat is Noah’s arc
But what I think about the most is how Focalors’s entire plan banked on Neuvillette learning how to love humans and just having compassion for others,,, to show them mercy and deliver them all of their “sins”
