How do you feel about Hidaka?
Ask my character “How do you feel about ______?” Can be an idea, person(s), place, or thing, and they’ll have to answer honestly. = [ Accepting ]
“Hidaka is…passably decent at his job…and…” Fushimi sighed and looked away with a click of his tongue. He couldn’t lie and that was supremely inconvenient, given the situation. “He’s difficult for me to understand. He’s overtly friendly, even to someone like me, who’s always shutting him down and hurting his feelings. I don’t get why he tries so hard with me when I prove to him every second he’s near me that it’s not worth it. That I’m not worth it. He can never seem to get that through his head and I don’t get it.”
He shook his head, glancing away through the window to his right. “What’s his motivation? What does he get in return for all the trouble he goes to? Maybe he’ll understand that he has no reason one day and just give up on me. I think a part of me might even miss it if he did…Maybe some part of me is…grateful for his effort.”
“It would be better for him if he didn’t. Chances are that I’ll say or do something wrong, or he will, and we’ll just end up hurting each other. But, maybe, deep down, I want to let him win.”

BRING ON THE ANGST
Hidaka could feel his emotions beginning to twirl rapidly out of control. He wanted desperately to get a hold of himself, but nothing, NOTHING he did seemed to make Fushimi budge. What was he trying so hard for? Why did he continue to embarrass himself, hurt himself over and over again for HIM?
Fists clenched at his side, he drew in a breath before the words began to spill out like a knocked over bottle of ink.
“ I don’t understand you! I don’t understand how someone can actually WANT to be alone? I just don’t get it! ”
Body shaking he looked down to the floor, not able to meet his gaze, voice growing softer as he went on.
“ I may not know a lot about you... I know I can’t replace what you lost... but I thought I could at least try and be your friend, to just-- ”
The blue broke into a silence, too emotional to continue to he took one last glance at Fushimi before dashing out of the room.
What a waste.

First step seemed easy enough, he got his attention. Hidaka tried his
best not to get his hopes up too high. He knew it was probably a big
chance that Fushimi would turn him down again, but he was a stubborn
soul, and he wouldn’t give up no matter what.
Of course, he’d be lying if he wasn’t always so nervous every time he
tried to ask him. He could be really intimidating, but something told him
he could through to him, at least once.
“ I was gonna go grab something to eat, want to come with me? ”
It certainly was funny, Fushimi thought as he turned his head to glance at his co-worker. Circumstance seemed to enjoy throwing the two of them together even when neither expected it. How funny, indeed. At least Hidaka wasn’t terrible. Just a bit confusing, always looking so happy to see him and inviting him to do all manner of things…
It was all ridiculous, so naturally, Saruhiko always turned him down.
Why would he want to involve Fushimi in any of these plans of his? Didn’t he have better things to do? Other people to invite? Work he should be doing? It was a mystery to the third-in-command what Hidaka even hoped to accomplish. Did he expect Fushimi’s cold exterior to melt, or something?
Oh well, neither of them were working at the moment, so he may as well at least hear him out.
“Whether or not I have the time depends entirely on what you’re asking me, so be my guest.”

Hidaka swallowed the sigh in his throat, knowing full well how this was
going to go. No one could beat Munakata, they’d been at it for hours and
all he wanted to do now was wave that little white flag in defeat. Of course,
his King wasn’t one to just let it go.
“ Of course not, I think its your turn. ”
“My, you’re going to quit, Hidaka? This game hasn’t finished yet.”
(Yes, Munakata fully intended for there to be more rounds of their poker match.)
Although the end result was a given to all those playing, it wasn’t in good manners to quite a game half way through. And although the blue king didn’t vocalize such thoughts, his words and demeanor was enough for his clan to know they were in this for the long haul.
