I absolutely love how the series portrayed the effect an immortal being has to a mortal. For Acer, the small comment was meant to comfort the person important to him. To take away the stress of obligation from Kaeha.
But Kaeha, who loved Acer and wanted him to have a "place" to go back to, decided to take the responsibility of making sure her dojo lives on through her children. Even if she'll no longer be there to see it, her love through her legacy would live on.
super unpopular opinion, but I’m extremely tired of seeing an extremely well-written female character, from a series where there is no canon romance, just gets boxed as a “person who wanna fuck [name of other character]”
We rarely get such good characters in the fantasy genre, but the shipping brain rots of some fans is getting out of hand, to the point that her character is now known as “lover girl”. The disservice to her character is such a shame tbh.
Sometimes, I don’t think most of them even actually like the character. They just want the character because they can push their headcanons on her.
“Pain, pain, go away,” Maomao said, recalling a rhyme her older sister Pairin had often used on her. She kissed the reddened cheek ever so gently. Her lips were colder than her fingertips, and made the cheek feel that much hotter.
One of my LN 11 fave scene (I have tons and I will post them lol) is when Lakan suddenly came to visit Jinshi’s office while Maomao was giving her report.
Jinshi: Sir Lakan. I believe I’ve asked you—repeatedly—to inform me before you come here. But since you’re here, what is your business?
Lakan, like the dipshit that he is,:
It’s funny how Jinshi and especially Maomao, tries to be inconspicuous about their late night talks mainly because they don’t want Lakan to know (for several reasons why)
But here comes this scene, and it just lowkey confirmed to us that Lakan knows. He knows Jinshi sometimes calls for his daughter. He knows that if she’s not in the medical office, it’s because a certain bloody moon prince has his precious daughter.
Personally, I don’t think it dawns on him what’s the status of Jinshi and Maomao’s relationship atm. Or the depth of what Jinshi feels for Maomao. He is still probably thinking that Jinshi and Maomao are still in the “master ordering his female attendant to work for him” kind of situation.
Also….
I love how Maomao sometimes deludes herself that she is doing a great job not to be publicly seen with Jinshi, but later chapters shows that it’s an open secret that she is, as one character has called, the “Prince of the Moon’s little pet”. All those sneaking around and trying to be formal in public? Yeah that’s funny.
I just know she would pull the "fellow associate" kind of line if they're in the modern setting lmao
Also, HC that whenever Jinshi pisses Maomao off (it happens from time to time), Maomao would refuse to call him "Jinshi/Master Jinshi" and would instead call him "My Lord", "Sir", "Young Master", "Your Highness"
(Jinshi knows he is in the dog house when she would do this)
And maybe…just maybe. If JinMao will have kids, one of them might end up being the next Moon deity™️ (without knowing their father and maternal grandma were the ones in the legend)
Once called 'The Moon Goddess', Yarite Baba female descendants carry on the tradition of being highly beautiful and intelligent women.
