How quick is your character to trust someone else?
not very quickly at all. mitchell is, as a rule, quite approachable and personable ; but he gives very little of himself upon first pass, or second pass, or third pass, because opening up to people always leaves him with more scars than he started out with. people he trusts always end up dead, or abandoning him due to his condition, or using him as a means to their own end : annie and george are the exception, not the rule. mitchell has learned to play his cards close to his chest while still being a generally outgoing and considerate man, to avoid betraying his inner monster.
How does your character behave around children?
mitchell fucking loves kids. for the most part, kids are open-minded and genuine ; they haven’t been twisted into something foul by the world. despite the ample amount of life force in their veins, their relative innocence tends to keep his bloodlust at bay, so he’s more comfortable being around them than their parents. plus they have no filter ; they speak their minds without concept of their actions, which mitchell finds both hilarious and endearing.

lol does herrick count? if so then yes, and it turned him into a FERAL LITTLE MAN. if not, then still yes ; mitchell’s been attacked by dogs many times throughout his long life, though dog bites don’t really do much to harm a vampire.
What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like? What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?
𝖒𝖔𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖗. mitchell adored her, and she him. he was only a bit of a mama’s boy ; the no-nonsense hand of his father made sure he grew away from his mother’s doting as soon as it was prudent. still, she encouraged him to be himself, regardless of what his mates in school thought ; and she wept profusely when he left home for the front lines. she grew old and passed away thinking that her boy had died on the battlefield ; mitchell travels to wexford every five years or so to place flowers on her grave.
𝖋𝖆𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖗. a well-respected fellow about wexford, who was, as was custom for the time, a strict man who expected much out of his son, and had named his son after himself. mitchell admired him, looked up to him as he’d never looked up to anyone before or since ; and even though mitchell was an odd boy, his father treated him with stern kindness. like his mother, mitchell’s father aged and died believing his son had passed before him ; to this day, mitchell is loath to be called john, purely because it reminds him of his father and his passing.

he’s an incredibly boring 5′10.

yeah, it’s just the right height for his full-time unpaid job.

its on the long side for male stereotypes, coming to about halfway down the back of his neck. its pitch fuckin black and quite curly / wavy. he usually wears it down and messy; he barely brushes it, and he washes it sparingly because he’s number one good time nasty boye.
▸ DO THEY SPEND A LOT OF TIME ON THEIR HAIR / GROOMING ?
when you can’t see your own reflection, it’s hard to spend a lot of time grooming. most of his appearance is pure guesswork.
▸ DOES YOUR MUSE CARE ABOUT THEIR APPEARANCE / WHAT OTHERS THINK ?
mitchell has a complicated relationship with his appearance. he only knows what he can see in semi-reflective surfaces ( cars, windows, water ), and every now and then, he’ll think to himself ‘good lord, i look homeless’. he’s also been around the block enough to know that half of a person’s identity is their appearance, so when he can afford to, he’ll clean himself up and try to make a matching outfit that’s somewhat appealing. but so much of his appearance is function not fashion, as a vampire has to wear many layers out during the day; so eight times out of ten, he doesn’t give a shit how he looks because it’s how he has to look. plus, people tell him he’s hot no matter what he wears or when the last time was that he washed his hair, so why waste time on actual effort when it comes naturally?

he’s a profound liar, sometimes to protect other people but usually to protect himself. swears. blasphemes. loves to get shit-faced; hates being hungover after. smokes like a chimney. has indiscriminate sex. and there’s the whole killing people for their blood thing.
▸ HAS YOUR MUSE LOST ANYONE CLOSE TO THEM ? HOW HAS IT AFFECTED THEM ?
mitchell has lost ( in some cases, killed ) many close friends in his long life. he had to watch from the sidelines as his beloved parents withered and eventually died of old age; he killed one of his closest friends, arthur hanley, less than a month after becoming a vampire; he killed and then recruited, and eventually staked, his lover lauren drake; but the death he has taken the hardest was that of his first lover and sobriety companion, josie hunter. as she gave her blood to save his life, his continued existence without her has been incredibly painful, and he thinks about her daily.
mitchell copes with loss in silence; every one he’s endured has shaped his ever-changing humanity, sometimes tempering him into the kind person he wants to be, sometimes pushing him closer to being the mass-murdering vampire he was in his past.
▸ WHAT ARE SOME FOND MEMORIES YOUR MUSE HAS ?
mitchell’s memories, no matter how fond, are almost always tinged with blood; sometimes they’re even fond because of the blood. the nights spent in the clifton hotel with josie are some of the few that he can look at with happiness no matter his mindset. his first time meeting annie is also an untainted memory that he fondly looks back on; meeting george, though it was in a dark place with horrible circumstances, is something he is forever grateful for.
▸ IS IT EASY FOR YOUR MUSE TO KILL ?
YES. in fact, it’s easier for mitchell to kill than it is for him not to. it takes incredible amounts of resolve and self-control for him not to give in to the homicidal monster lurking just beneath his skin. as a person, he’s far from murderous, with his dazzling smile and generally amicable nature, but his vampire instincts are constantly at war with this persona. mitchell’s daily life is a struggle between his id ( his vampire self ), his ego ( his human self ), and his superego ( his conscience ): and more than fifty percent of the time, the id wins and his superego has to check into a witness protection program.
▸ WHAT’S IT LIKE WHEN YOUR MUSE BREAKS DOWN ?
DEAR LORD RUN. there’s almost always yelling; if there isn’t, run faster. homicide is a fair possibility, too: usually when he’s emotionally unsettled is when the beast gets through. there is one silver lining though: during a breakdown is when mitchell is his most honest, so if you can endure the yelling and potential homicide, you might be able to get some truthful answers out of him.
▸ IS YOUR MUSE CAPABLE OF TRUSTING SOMEONE WITH THEIR LIFE ?
mitchell doesn’t place a lot of value on his own life, as its pretty hard to take away from him; but the unshakable trust he has in george and annie means that yes, he’s more than willing to put his life in their hands. as for nina, mitchell trusts her anger, trusts that she’ll fight to protect him if she’s mad enough at the other person; but he doesn’t doubt that she would trade in his life for george’s without a second thought.
▸ WHAT’S YOUR MUSE LIKE WHEN THEY’RE IN LOVE ?
a simpering idiot, to be honest. if someone catches his eye ( as something other than a meal or a quick fuck ), mitchell tends to be immensely kind and giving, if not a little on the sappy side. he’s devoted and adventurous, ever the debonair gentleman, and will stop at nothing to keep the person he loves from coming to any harm ... especially from himself.
mitchell’s relationship with love is strained and complex; he craves it more than almost anything, but is frightened of it and the intense feelings it draws from him. love holds hands with sex, which holds hands with murder for mitchell: as such, he’s more than happy to have one night stands with strangers he’s not opposed to killing, whereas he tends to hold his lovers at arms’ length to protect them from himself, at least until some sort of compromise about his condition is reached. so many of his human lovers end up dead, or abandoning him when his condition is revealed, that mitchell has all but given up on love. it’s better for everyone, really: everyone except for his dead bed partners, that is.
