‘eat the frog' method
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi all, it’s werelivingarts. I just stumbled across this method called ‘eat the frog’, which means you get the most difficult or important task out of your way first. I actually have been using this method for a long time, hope this post gives you a new way of managing your time and productivity! 😜
“If it’s your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it’s your job to eat two frogs, it’s best to eat the biggest one first.” – Mark Twain

on the days I have little to no motivation I remind myself that who I am tomorrow depends on what I do today and that if I want to I can make myself a weapon. I can do anything I want because today holds unlimited potential, I’ve just got to work for it. I can be unbreakable, undefeatable, unlimited and to be these things I have to do. Because I can and I will. Your brain holds unlimited capacity to hold information so why not be able to do all the things you want? I have the capability to be multilingual, so what’s stopping me? I have the capability to run marathons, so what’s stopping me? I have the capability to ace my exams, so what’s stopping me? What’s stopping me? That question is my motivator.

How to make your essay longer
Change…
‘this means’ to ‘this actively illustrates that’
‘in conclusion to’ to ‘to sum up everything that has been stated’
‘because’ to ‘the reason for this occurence’
‘so’ to ‘thus, the conclusion is that’
‘and’ to ‘as well as’
‘linking’ to ‘bridging the gap between…’

Self-care is not always pretty.
Self care is not all about masks, drinking chamomile tea and taking bubble baths.
It is also about doing the things you need to do. Like getting groceries, not buying that tub of cookie dough because you know you’d feel sick later. Cleaning your desk filled with tissues and vacuuming your room filled with crumbs and dirt. Providing yourself with a clean environment to pick your motivation and drive up again. Doing that assignment earlier on because you’d thank yourself later for not having to procrastinate till the last minute and stay up with cans of red bull. Eating healthily because caring for your body is important when you’re not indulging yourself in junk food. Maintaining conversations and relationships with friends and family even when you don’t feel like it, to not regret mistakes and spontaneously cut people off.
These are all acts of self care, not pretty, but necessary for you to continue to push forward.

yesterday’s accomplishments
Again, I’m not here to brag on a good day or to beat myself up on a “bad” day. I’m just keeping daily tabs on myself to hold myself accountable. Of course, your worth isn’t determined by your productivity, but it feels good to look back on a job well done. #positivity
Wrote my first post about the previous day’s productivity :)
Watched a few brief lecture videos for my new classes.
Posted self introductions to the message boards of the two classes that require them.
Began the registration process for disability services at my university. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have documented disabilities (such as mental illness), you should absolutely register with your school’s disability/accessibility services! They can hook you up with any accommodations that you need!
Submitted the first round interview questionnaire for the job I’m applying to. WISH ME LUCK!
Set a study schedule for my online courses.
Dropped off a prescription at the pharmacy. I’m including this on the list of accomplishments because sometimes my executive functioning can be very low, and “little” things like this can keep slipping through the cracks.
Went to work. It was fortunately a very low key day, which is probably why I was able to get the other stuff done.
Held a sleepover!

“1. push yourself to get up before the rest of the world - start with 7am, then 6am, then 5:30am. go to the nearest hill with a big coat and a scarf and watch the sun rise. 2. push yourself to fall asleep earlier - start with 11pm, then 10pm, then 9pm. wake up in the morning feeling re-energized and comfortable. 3. get into the habit of cooking yourself a beautiful breakfast. fry tomatoes and mushrooms in real butter and garlic, fry an egg, slice up a fresh avocado and squirt way too much lemon on it. sit and eat it and do nothing else. 4. stretch. start by reaching for the sky as hard as you can, then trying to touch your toes. roll your head. stretch your fingers. stretch everything. 5. buy a 1L water bottle. start with pushing yourself to drink the whole thing in a day, then try drinking it twice. 6. buy a beautiful diary and a beautiful black pen. write down everything you do, including dinner dates, appointments, assignments, coffees, what you need to do that day. no detail is too small. 7. strip your bed of your sheets and empty your underwear draw into the washing machine. put a massive scoop of scented fabric softener in there and wash. make your bed in full. 8. organise your room. fold all your clothes (and bag what you don’t want), clean your mirror, your laptop, vacuum the floor. light a beautiful candle. 9. have a luxurious shower with your favourite music playing. wash your hair, scrub your body, brush your teeth. lather your whole body in moisturiser, get familiar with the part between your toes, your inner thighs, the back of your neck. 10. push yourself to go for a walk. take your headphones, go to the beach and walk. smile at strangers walking the other way and be surprised how many smile back. bring your dog and observe the dog’s behaviour. realise you can learn from your dog. 11. message old friends with personal jokes. reminisce. suggest a catch up soon, even if you don’t follow through. push yourself to follow through. 13. think long and hard about what interests you. crime? sex? boarding school? long-forgotten romance etiquette? find a book about it and read it. there is a book about literally everything. 14. become the person you would ideally fall in love with. let cars merge into your lane when driving. pay double for parking tickets and leave a second one in the machine. stick your tongue out at babies. compliment people on their cute clothes. challenge yourself to not ridicule anyone for a whole day. then two. then a week. walk with a straight posture. look people in the eye. ask people about their story. talk to acquaintances so they become friends. 15. lie in the sunshine. daydream about the life you would lead if failure wasn’t a thing. open your eyes. take small steps to make it happen for you.”
(via elauxe)
A self care list. I’ve been working on this. I promise it’s worth it.
