The Sims 2 Inspired UI for The Sims 4
After making my own UI override, I've been itching to look back in time and try to recreate The Sims 2 UI in TS4, and here it is!
I tried to capture the look & feel as best as possible, so I hope you can enjoy this mod and reminisce a bit c:
General Info
PC: 1.105.345.1020 / Mac: 1.105.345.1220
Older game versions will not work with this mod.
UI overhaul in the style of The Sims 2's UI.
Over 500+ additional icons recolored for CAS & BuildBuy!
Sims 2 style cursor recolors.
Most text are kept in their original color, though they might get changed/updated down the line.
To install:
// Main mod
Download & extract the zip file within your Mods folder.
Install the latest UI Cheats Extension mod and make sure it loads after the Sims 2 UI mod. Current version needed: v1.40
// Extras
Loading screen: download only one loading screen file. Available in: 4:3 - 16:9 - 16:10 aspect ratio.
Opening screen: file to replace the intro TS4 screen. Choose the file that pertains to your game language.
TS2 Cursor: recolored TS4 cursor to match with TS2's cursor. Unfortunately, some cursors are missing their recolors (rotate cam & grab+arrows in CAS).
EA Notif: optional file if you prefer to keep the notification in its original color scheme.

i don't know a single goddamn thing about the mob, i've never even watched the sopranos ❗❗ now that we've gotten that out of the way
it's the late 80s, and chiarra (brunette) is fresh out of cosmetology school and looking for a job as a hair stylist. she ends up renting a booth at a salon on one condition: the property owner, a man with major ties to the mob, wants to take her on a date first. she's charmed by his charisma and loves how close he is with his family, something chiarra never had much of. within a year, the two are married and chiarra has ingratiated herself in the community, however she's quite unpopular with the other ladies. she's seen as a gold digger and an outsider because she didn't grow up in this life. but her job as a hair stylist is secured permanently thanks to her husband.
this is how she meets donna (blonde). donna is kind of a big fucking deal from what chiarra has heard through the grapevine, so she gets nervous and ends up badlyyy messing up her hair the first time she comes in to the salon. she's surprised to find that donna thinks it's hilarious – but she warns her that not everyone would've taken it so lightly, especially because chiarra's husband is not an incredibly influential person to begin with, unlike donna's husband who's like. the boss. but donna takes a liking to her, something the other wives find equal parts annoying and frightening.
through the early years of chiarra's marriage, donna acts as a mentor figure and a listening ear because she's been through it many years ago. but there comes a point where chiarra discovers her husband has been cheating on her, and she's shocked when donna waves it off as something that just sort of happens to all of them. chiarra becomes furious and refuses to accept this when she's been nothing but loyal to him. but instead of confronting her husband, possibly losing her marriage and the new family she's gained, she makes the decision to follow in his footsteps. she carries out secret affairs for a while; just one night stands and brief flings, so her husband won't get suspicious. donna finds it entertaining and turns it into a game, often covering for her. she's always been a gossip, so it's easy for her to keep an ear out for what people are saying about chiarra and deflect suspicion if she needs to.
one night, while their husbands are away, the wine starts flowing and the two of them just go for it. it's quick and they don't even particularly enjoy it because the guilt creeps in almost immediately. in decades of marriage, donna has never betrayed her husband no matter how many times he's done the same. and though chiarra is no stranger to stepping out of her marriage, she hasn't had romantic feelings for anyone but him since they've been together, let alone feelings for another woman.
donna and chiarra try to put some space between themselves, but they both know it's too little too late – and considering they've been inseparable since they met, their distance draws more suspicion than their closeness ever had. without donna there to protect her, chiarra is forced to realize just how disliked she is in her community, and how much donna had been doing to bolster her image. but she doesn't just want everything to go back to normal, she wants more than that. she's determined to make sure donna knows what she's missing out on, taking every opportunity to make her jealous and push her buttons.
this push and pull between them continues until donna learns that her husband has been arrested for racketeering and other crimes -- and it seems that the charges are actually going to stick this time. worst of all, the latest gossip is that chiarra had something to do with it. but is this just chiarra's bad reputation preceding her? would she really do something so dangerous and hurtful just to get donna back? and if it's true, what is donna going to do in retaliation?

Before Laila could reach out, Martin seemed to anticipate her intentions; he opened his eyes.
Without a word, Martin shifted to sit on the edge of the bed, his movements slow but deliberate. After gathering his thoughts for a moment, he asked in a sleepy voice, "How are you feeling today?”
Laila: Tired, but better.
Martin: Good.
Laila: What are you doing here?
Martin: (shrugs) Paying my debts? You were there for me when I made bad choices.
Laila: And what's next… when your so-called debt is paid?
Martin: A clean slate. Next page. I don't know.
Laila's pounding headache made it difficult for her to fully grasp Martin's words. Before she could gather her thoughts, Martin had already moved on to the next topic.
Martin: So what happened?
Laila: I'm not sure.
Martin: Hmm… Just chugged a few bottles of wine like it was water?
Laila: (rolls her eyes) Maybe the drink before the last one should have been the last one… Accidents happen.
Martin: I refuse to believe you accidentally had one too many.
Laila: (irritated) You're not even fully awake, and you're already interrogating me.
Martin: Now you know how I used to feel.
Martin seemed concerned, yet he made no effort to approach the situation with tenderness or delicacy. Laila tried to read his tone and expressions, but her senses felt dull, incapable of picking up on the subtleties. This left her with a sinking feeling that the outcome of their conversation was out of her control.
Laila: I tried to numb the pain.
Martin: And did it help?
Laila: No…

Damian: I'm glad to see you too. Never thought I'd be so happy to be back in middle of nowhere Alaska.
Damian: Julie, is that your baby? I can't believe how much he looks like Noah.
Julian: Everyone keeps saying that but I think he looks like me. His name's Jasper.
Damian: I see it now that you mention it. Guess it's just the hair and eyes he gets from Noah.
Julian: So, you're back. Does this mean you're out of military school?
Damian: Not yet. My graduation is next week but they let me home for Markus's graduation.
Julian: I'm really sorry about what happened. It's basically my fault you got sent away.
Damian: Don't sweat it. My mom had been threatening to send me to military school for years.
Julian: It's good to see you again.
Damian: Yeah, you too. I'm just glad Kirsten isn't here.
Julian: That's a long story. Vivian's husband was fucking her mom and got her pregnant, so he and Vivian got divorced then he, his baby mommy, and Kirsten moved to Storybrooke County.
Damian: Man, your family really likes to fuck up her life, huh? Maybe I did dodge a bullet by getting sent away. I'll see you again when I come back.
Julian: Bet on it.
Isabella: Oh my god, military school was good to him. Did you see those muscles?
Julian: What happened to only having eyes for Richie?
Isabella: Richie is the love of my life, but he's more of a brains guy.
Isabella: Please my wonderful and bestest best friend please tell me you changed your mind about coming to the graduation dinner?
Julian: Sorry, it just doesn't seem fair since I didn't graduate.
Isabella: But you got your GED! They don't call it an equivalent for nothing.
Julian: Besides, I have other dinner plans tonight.

Julian: No, he's at work. Actually, I'm having dinner with my dad.

Julian: He's been trying to make more of an effort to be involved in my life since the custody case.
