Sorry for the long post...

Percy (@so-lay-with-me-in-the-trees) and George or the narrator (@nothingbutgog) are the ponies in this update.

Percy and I are working day and night to find the cure. It’s important that we find a cure or vaccine in the early stages of The Situation. There are currently five ponies who are in later stages of the infection, Eve should be one of them but something about her is preventing its progression. There are eighteen other ponies who are either wounded but not directly bitten by an infected, or ponies that are infected but in early stages. We have ruled the infection into four Stages so far.

Stage One: Patient is infected by another animal with the virus. The victim soon shows signs of fatigue and hunger, as well as alarming weight loss. Sense of time is very bad, and their minds reportedly feel “cloudy”. Head, sinuses, eyes, and cutie mark ache. Still recognises ponies around them, friendly.

Stage Two: Patient’s fatigue gets much worse and their muscle mass decreases rapidly. Sores begin to appear where bones and skin rub. The victim displays all aforementioned symptoms but at least twice as worse. Bones and teeth ache badly. Still recognises ponies around them, stressed and tired, but friendly enough.

Stage Three: Patient displays extreme discomfort anywhere they are. The sores and bruises are deepening, stinging, and burning. Oddly, the victim’s cutie mark will “sink” into their flesh. Patient will look noticeably skinnier and sallower; bones will protrude from the skin. Massive mood changes, angry and snappy at anyone to disturbs them.

Stage Four: All previous symptoms hit the infected pony full-force. Vicious and unpredictable, do not approach under any circumstances other than if you’re on the rescue team and you’re herding them out of habited zones. Pony’s bodies are out of control, but their minds still remain.

Stage Five: Do not approach. Under no circumstances should you interact with a Stage Five. Full stop. Zephyr sacrificed himself to get the only known Stage Five, Maddie out of Ponyville. So far, Maddie is the only Stage Five pony.

Maddie recently attacked Ponyville. She killed three people, one of whom, Zephyr (@raccoonboyzephyr), sacrificed himself by kicking her, then running outside the wall and into the Evergreen Forest.

His body was found by Winter and the rest of the rescue team. Honouring their lost cadet, the rescue team held his funeral in the Town Square to remind the community of the urgency and gravity of the situation.

Winter is working on herding all infected ponies out of ponyville, at least ones in the later “Stages” of infection. The infected ponies were as follows: Madeline, Poopy Cannt, Jonathan G, Hamish M and Peter J. Madeline was obviously the most severely affected, she had acquired several large, gaping open wounds exposing much of her ribs and legs. Winter has also taken to some armour she found in the Ponyville museum. It slows her down slightly, but she can still fly and run very well.

This is charles. Everyone say hiiii. He doesn’t have tumblr u fortunately but what can we do.

Charlie came into the Ward yesterday; it’s been a couple of days since the infection officially “broke out”. He’s been working the harvest in time for the winter on Staben Stables Farm, which is several kilometres out of town, so he was completely oblivious towards the situation. Charlie came across a rabid, wounded, “ruined” Hunter. He was so worried that he decided that he may as well bring in the harvest early to bring Hunter to Percy, on the way he was bitten on his right wing. He is not displaying any symptoms of the infection, he seems to be fine but we’re keeping him in the Ward for the night and he won’t be able to use that wing for a couple of days, no more than a week if all goes well.

Eve is safely inside the ward, her infection is progressing much slower than Madeline’s or the other patients inside the Ward, which is now steadily filling up. Eve is getting minimal sleep but at least she’s sleeping in the first place. Her cutie mark apparently burns.

Winter came to us, furious. She was confused as to the “current situation in ponyville”. When asking what the “situation” was, she looked like we’d just said something crazy. Percy and I walked outside the Ward to see at least a dozen ponies waiting outside the doors crying and…bleeding. We hurried Winter back inside the Ward, and told her to keep quiet, we don’t want this infection getting out, by word or by transmission. She said she’d keep watch but as we exited we saw that the number of ponies outside had increased. At least four ponies, including Madeline, were chasing several people around the town square, not to mention we heard loud screams deeper in-town. The infection is spreading.

We decided to go to Madeline’s house to see if she was there, we brought Winter with us in case. We’re still very confused as to what the virus is or how it effects people, let alone a cure. When we entered the house we were struck by a terrible sight, and the reason why Madeline hadn’t told us why her cat had bit her. Her cat, Hunter was skinny and vicious. His nails weren’t retracting, and bone was protruding from on open wound on the end of her tail. He ran from the house as soon as we approached him.

Eve came running into the clinic crying screaming about something. When she calmed down she showed us a large angry bite mark on her calf, she said that Madeline had bitten her. At first, Percy and I were confused but upon further examination we discovered that the bitemark was indeed inflicted by a pony. Eve said she felt tired and woozy. She’s not eating or sleeping, whenever it’s offered she gags violently. How and when did Maddie get out?

She left my house three days ago and came back today. Her eyes had sunken deep into her skull, her bones looked as though they were about to tear through her skin, and she looked so angry I thought she could bite someone’s leg off! All jokes aside she hadn’t slept since she came to me last time. She is continuing to have seizures and her cutie mark is burning and appears to be sinking?? I asked her what the bite mark was on her leg, and she said it was her cat Hunter, she didn’t answer me when I asked her why she hadn’t told me earlier. I asked Percy to take a look at her and he said he hadn’t seen anything like it. He said it’s likely that she’s gotten an infection from Hunter when he bit her and an infection got into her bloodstream. She’s gotten a whole room to herself in the clinic. We don’t know if the “infection” if that’s what it is, is contagious other than through direct contact with the blood stream.

Maddie returned last night. She said her symptoms had become worse and felt as though something was gripping her ribcage. Oddly enough, I noticed a bite-mark on her hind-leg, but I didn’t want to pry as she seemed distressed as it was. Her meds weren’t working, and the painkillers made her gag. A quick examination showed rapid weight loss in the last 27 hours since she was here last. I told her it’s best she stayed with me. All through the night she didn’t sleep and kept wheezing.

Maddie hadn’t left her house in weeks; she’s only come out now. She came to me late at night telling me she felt sick and tired. I was surprised at first but ushered her in. She said that her eyes, sinuses, and head were aching and that she couldn’t sleep. When I asked how long she had trouble answering, her sense of time has warped but at least three days. She was also visibly skinnier. I sent her back home with some meds and told her to come back if it got worse.

MLP Infection AU

My MLP Infection AU is based around a fictional virus called the Bone Beast Infection. More on that later.

The AU is narrated with diary entries from a researcher documenting the infection. The diary entries are mostly from the perspective of George (@nothingbutgog). There will also occasionally be a scene in a "comic book" style with the panels and text-boxes/speech-bubbles.

All the drawings are done in grey lead by me, please forgive any and all smudges. If there are any minor similarities between other Infection AUs and mine they are either unintentional or the AU was used as inspiration.
