hey!! so uh,, your blog is really good and do you happen to have any tips for playing canon chars?
;; This is gonna seem hella simple but just have fun with it.
When I look into characters, I tend to go over their canon dialogue as much as possible and try to replicate it. I don’t really like taking the protagonist/any other characters opinions on that character into account, because then you aren’t really getting what’s purely ‘them’, in a sense(?)
ALSO. Big no-no is RPing on bias alone. It’s important to be able to make fun of the character you have. You have to be as critical of them as possible. Become their biggest bully. If you’re saying ‘god, they’re actually annoying me with this’ at some point, then, bam, you’ve just nailed down an essential part of their character.
Try to remember that no single human is inherently explained by a single backstory element. The decisions people make as humans are messy, and can’t always be chalked up to trauma or explained. The person who probably understands why they do things the least is probably the character itself.
The action and internal dialogue that you give a character is pretty flexible (which means you can add as much or as little humour as you want), because it’s a narrative voice, so the main thing I try to pin down is the dialogue habits, themselves.
But this just goes back to the first point about having fun- and making threads fun to read. Assertiveness in threads is a good thing! Random decisions, and tongue-and-cheek writing are your friends! Just make sure to be considerate of the other RPer if you’re threading- and ask if you can initiate plot points/plot it out with them, first.

You can see his face explode into a shade of red, fingers trembling as he takes the box from her. Slow. “M-Monaka-chan, you didn’t have to...” He’d never particularly enjoyed Valentine’s day, but... “Th... thank you.” Because of her? It’s now his favourite day of the year. He’ll definitely repay her on White Day.
