Khoobsurat-movie review
Now if you’re up for some slapstick senseless story that seems convincing based upon mindless humour and spontaneous situational giggle, Khubsoorat is your pick of the week. It’s also a progressive step for Sonam Kapoor as she finally understands her marketing approach towards film. She spots and gets cast against a charming co-actor to gage the limelight and deliver a convincing performance while she steals the show with her utmost best pretty, chirpy and lovely self. Right from her days of Aisha, she not only got better on style but also on her choice perhaps. With khubsoorat, women manage to get mesmerised with Fawad Khan’s looks that couldn’t be better styled by Raghuvendra Rathore and actually a selling point for the flick, you enjoy a lovely laugh riot courtesy Kirron Kher whilst men enjoy loving a bimbette loud personality like Sonam. Disney does justice to the movie by making it maintain its royal-dreamy concept courtesy its set production. So, if you’re up for a funny, mindless, random and sarcastic choice for yourself, pick Khubsoorat. It’s quite up the notch over Dawat-e-ishq and surprisingly more promising as a release for this week.

Haider-movie review
Yes! Vishal and his adaptation scheme is back on reel. Haider is an extension to his typical style of filmmaking and you can feel the vibe throughout the running time. As far as the logic of adaptation is concerned, there’s a difference. As per Shakespeare’s Hamlet, there’s a significant difference in the exact story line but the summary is quite similar so I’d say it’s been inspired more than adapted. Moving on, the cast is an intelligent choice having refined artists so good performance is expected. Shahid delivers a very sincere performance making us believe that Bhardwaj has the knack to seek the best in him. Tabu, irfan and KK are there usual performing selves as expected for their craft standards maintained as artists. It’s not a typical preference of all movie lovers so if you like a good drama genre then you can know what to go for. It’s not a blockbuster, but a good sincere movie just like any good appreciated play.

Decorating the verandah
Throughout cozy winters or warm summers, we incline to spend a lot more time outside, so it’s time to design or re-design your veranda to make a cozy atmosphere that will urge you to spend more time in the great outdoors. Try to make the most of your space minus spending a lot of money or time by using plants and decorations for your outdoor space. From re-arranging furnishings to growing your small space with the use of a mirror to even adding an outdoor area rug, these practical tips should help to spark your creative juices. So if you’re seeking inspiration to spruce up your small patio or balcony space, we have some fabulous design tips to help you get started. Fresh, vibrant plants can transform the look and feel of your patio, so any investment you make here is well worth your while. Having flowers is perhaps more of a compulsion than an option to stick with when it comes to your verandah space designing. If you have empty pots to fill, make a trip to the garden center and choose new plants. Be sure to select healthy plants that are suited to the light levels of your patio. You can always create a space for seating by purchasing cane furniture that is durable and long lasting in natural wood or black color. Fresh throw pillows can freshen up the look of a space in an instant. Outdoor fabrics are best, because they are designed to resist sun bleaching and mildew. Do remember to be wise by experimenting with subtlety. In case of being innovative, you can remove your old chipped flooring by having artificial grass or stones and white chips placed all over. You can also create a contrast by having a vintage or modern wooden shed with minimal lighting at the center or corner of your verandah to add an exclusive factor. In case you tend to be more experimental, you can add an aquarium concept and have company while you’re enjoying the dawn or dusk alone. You can create a natural environment by installing small fountains and in case you can afford luxury, create a mini spa where you can relax your feet amidst flowing water from jets and pumps in a small-niched block. On an uncovered patio, an umbrella is a must. The freestanding type gives you much more flexibility to place it where it is needed, and will work with any table or chairs. Sharply angled corners are not only a challenge to decorate, but if left empty they can make a space feel cramped and uncomfortable. Fill in tight corners with potted plants to soften the angles — tall plants and topiaries work especially well. Style your verandah up with these basic, unique, budgeted and creative ideas and have yourself always to be close to nature and beauty.

Colors that are trending now
The breeze is setting out to not be as warm like before, the days are getting shorter and the feeling of warmth has been instilling in the minds of everyone. Winter has arrived and it is time to embrace the exciting new color trends of 2014 that will give your home a fashionable and innovative makeover. Just like the year gone by, 2014 carries along with it an amalgam of wonderful new patterns, colors, textures and styles. While some seem like an organic extension of the best designs in 2013, others give your home an entirely new scope. Accent-uate your style This simply means that you can use accent colors in shades of neutral pallets or bold color schemes. In consideration to the upcoming season, we can use dark colors to create the ambience of feeling warm and cozy. If we want to welcome the color scheming for our upholstery choices, we can use shades of dark purple, mauve, chocolate brown, amazon green and dark grey in combinations or sets for cushion color choices with having white or beige as dominating color preferences for seating fabric. However, those who are bored of hurting your eyes with white and beige, you can use strong colors like maroon, grey, navy blue and light brown for seating fabric and use light colored cushions to accompany them but in one color only. If it is to do with taking decisions regarding wall colors, one can opt for a nice neutral backdrop that brings along with it plenty of benefits. For starters, it gives your home a new and sophisticated appeal that is perfect for the public spaces. On top of it, you can simply switch accent hues like we talked about earlier and instantly alter the aura of the room. But it is still vital to gather neutrals that are not dull and bleak. Grey is one of the hottest colors of the season and is predicted to stay relevant well beyond 2014. Others can be European white or sandcastle brown as popular choices. For space styling like showpieces, vases etc. one can put their hands on purple or antique gold colored items to differentiate your overall outlook. In case you are still confused? There are some suggested simple combinations that will make your spaces look fabulous and trending. A neutral living room can be given a striking edge with sophisticated hues of gold and brown. Simple beige walls allow the gold accompaniments and brown accents to stand out. Soft gray walls with white sofa and white fixtures along with light blue metallic accent pillows and turquoise knick-knacks can create another good theme. To have a feminine and posh space, you can integrate red-violet tones with sterling silver accessories. The white sofa pops against the rich magenta walls and completes the look.

Anything but love ( theatrical play), a review
Now I managed to attend a 120-minute play over a mid-week evening, Anything but love starring Mandira Bedi and Samir Soni. A play that had an amalgamation of situations that a married couple undergoes. It was twisted with relatable moments that every couple perhaps faces, curled up with humor and remarks that both sexes throw upon each other and painted with behavioral and personality characteristics of a typical man and woman. The interesting element in the play was that the writer had rightfully selected all possible situations out of the plenty existing that today's couple face, from both, the angle of a man and woman, and project it well as a flowing current of scenarios, not making it be felt as if it's disconnected with one-another.
The two play Seema and Anisha, a divorced couple who decide to meet up for old times’ sake. While Seema has remarried, Anish has had an eventful couple of years as well, what with gay psychiatrists and his womanizing ways! Disaster strikes as the two realize they still harbor feelings for each other. Will they act rationally? Or will history repeat itself?
While on one hand, Mandira managed to hold the audience with her witty dialogues & emotional conjecture, Soni, on the other hand had this relatable realistic appeal of playing a man who has little sensitivity as well as a bit of machismo. The old-style music used as fillers between scenes was well chosen and the idea of seeing other cast as imaginary and from the eyes of the protagonist’s was interesting. Both the lead actors managed a pretty good job to hold the show together all by themselves, the dialogue delivery was with just the right amount of ingenuity and sarcasm, making the viewers feel like they’re watching a sitcom on stage perhaps, however, Soni was a bit unreal with his pitch and tone. So that was perhaps, how I could relate to this theatrical presentation.

Finding Fanny-movie review
Tumblr media
Finding Fanny lazes and loiters like a cat under the warm sun, as its inhabitants stroll about their dawdling, dull days in the most casual manner. Sprinkled liberally with uproarious humor, this movie is crisp and patchily quirky.
You need to give credit to the director; Homi Adajania to bring together such an ensemble cast and create significant division amongst the new and veteran cast leaving no mark of insecurity to gather limelight by them. Pankaj Kapoor and Naseerudin Shah steal the show for their individual roles. Finding Fanny is a sample of progress for Adajania, who failed to grip audience towards his personal filmmaking style like Being Cyrus.
I would not say this movie is for a regular entertaining audience, but it’s for an audience that seeks entertainment in experimental Indian cinema. There isn’t a typical story comprising of a start and end; it’s more like a collaboration of thoughts weaved into a script and plot.
The cinematography also compliments the film a lot. To pull this off and make it entertaining is not easy, but it’s clear that Adajania manages to be a talented filmmaker with this one. If you are up for watching something different then go and watch Finding Fanny, you won’t be disappointed as much as his last english attempt.

Mary Kom (movie review)
Tumblr media
If I think from the perspective of a director, Omung Kumar has taken up a good challenge upon himself. He has chosen a subject, which wouldn’t be easy on the skin of a debutant. However, his novel entry in the field of direction is reflected in the vibe of the film by not letting it be felt as if an audience is watching a movie. The concept of a biopic gets somewhat merged with minute elements of documentary filmmaking.
The story seems more like a quick collective fractional pick of someone’s life that only makes you highlight and not feel involved in the journey of a living person as it was in the case of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The first half is relatively weak to the second half. The hard work involved in preparation of a character isn’t as strongly projected by Priyanka Chopra which makes her deliver a good attempt, but not her ultimate best. However, lack of any rival’s brilliant performance may make her be close to the chance of winning awards for 2014. In comparison to other biopics like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, this one fails to be impressive. It does make us aware about the insights and hardships of another athlete, but it does not set a benchmark as expected.
It’s perhaps a mediocre account of a magnificent reality. The spirited actress needed a more self-assured filmmaker than first-timer Omung Kumar and a script more disciplined and upfront than Saiwyn Quadras’s to amaze. By the end, I’d just change the dialogue of the movie, “Kisi ko itna na darao, ki darr hi khatam ho jay” to “Kisi movie ka itna hype mat karao, ki dekhne ke baad expectation hi khatam ho jaye” So, the movie is watchable but yet avoidable by all those who expected it to be a great film.
