i hate that kids are gonna watch the show and just say 'oh it was a product of its time, at least it tried to talk about racial issues :)' as if we weren't all frothing at the mouth about star being a white savior even though she spent the first have of the series hunting indigenous people for sport

hey so you might remember me as the salty cunt of 2016 and you'll be happy to know I have never nor will ever be so salty about a piece of media, for children or otherwise, ever again.
That being said.
Idk if theres some sorta resurgence going on VISA the Trans!Marco headcanon, but there seems to be a bit of revisionist history regarding it being canon.
No. Nefcy did not originally plan for marco to be trans, but she did mean to imply star was bisexual
Yes. The writers did change the trajectory of the character BECAUSE of the trans!marco fancanon and tried to resolve the plotline in a way that satisfied fans of the headcanon whilst also sticking to their main vision. How you feel about this resolution may vary, I did not personally like it because the conclusion was basically 'being trans means you're a liar but if your lies make cis girls feel good then it's okay :)' but I can see how other people who weren't completely disillusioned by the show might have given it the benefit of the doubt.
No. Disney did NOT have anything to do with the way Marco's gender exploration arc concluded. They did not scrap any episodes. They did not demand revisions to existing dialog. The one bit of evidence that they knew about the headcanon at all was a screenshot of a storyboard where there is a toy in the colors of a trans flag, and we never ended up seeing that shot in the show at all so it could have just as easily been a deleted scene.
As lgbt+ cartoons become more popular and actual queer creators are having their voices heard, I beg of you to support the stories of actual queer creators instead of a cis lady who wrote a bad show where she said that transgirls are liars and victims of mental illness are sex objects. the executives had nothing to do with Daron not knowing what trans women are.

remember when the trans!marco arc was concluded with macro getting outed/undressed on live television and saying 'its okay to lie about who you are if you inspire other ppl :)' because that's what daron thought trans ppl are.
svtfoe being on the disney+ lgbt section is really funny because i was watching the writers like LIVEBLOGGING how hard they were working to put the tiniest hints of a main character being trans into the actual show without disney nuking them into orbit in like 2018. like you do nawttttt get to claim that as your own #representation now motherfuckers
