it's never Davinas intention to cause any sort of disturbance , especially not on the Bridge when the Captain was off ship . it was a tense moment , people on high alert as they monitored the Coms for any hint of distress . The nurse was someone who had tried to keep herself busy & her sitting in the chair was ultimately active fidgeting , but she did not want to verbally express any nerves to Spock , lest he asked her to depart the Bridge .
' I suppose the comment is more or less based on conversations i've had with other Captains , but it could be for a myriad of reasons . ' arms are crossed over her chest as she paces slowly , watching as eyes are trained on screens & she moves her attention back to Spock . ' I wouldn't be able to take the weight of the crew on my shoulders , would you ? '
spock said nothing as she lifted herself from the captains chair before moving away . he was in no mood to deal with the dramatics , not whilst captain pike was off ship with the landing party he had picked out . spock did not entirely like the thought of the captain being there WITHOUT him , but respected pikes wishes where they were required . the vulcan quietly reassured himself that logically , pike would be fine . he had both commander chin-riley && lieutenant noonien-singh .
he would be safe .
