Amaretto/Whiskey Sourz
Add to a Boston Tin with ice 2 shots of amaretto or makers mark which is a whiskey. Also add 2 drops of angisturo bitters, a shot of sugar syrup, half a lemon or lime, and a shot of egg whites. The egg whites are optional and just add a frothiness to the drink.
Shake it all together and strain into a glass tumbler. If no egg, double strain. Garnish with two sip straws.

Why is it that we care so little about people in other countries, and yet so much for our own families? We’re constantly pestered by adverts asking us to donate to third world countries, to support those dying of thirst and starvation and we feel bad, but we rarely act upon our guilt. Instead we ignore it, distract ourselves, wait for it to go away. But if in the middle of the night a brother or sister screams, we’ll rush to help them.

“There’s an empty space in my trunk and I’m stuffing hay into it. It’s the same with the luggage of our own lives. It doesn’t matter matter what you fill it with as long as there’s no empty space.”

Grant them removed, and grant that this your noise Hath chid down all the majesty of England; Imagine that you see the wretched strangers, Their babies at their backs and their poor luggage, Plodding to the ports and coasts for transportation, And that you sit as kings in your desires, Authority quite silent by your brawl, And you in ruff of your opinions clothed; What had you got? I’ll tell you: you had taught How insolence and strong hand should prevail, How order should be quelled; and by this pattern Not one of you should live an aged man, For other ruffians, as their fancies wrought, With self same hand, self reasons, and self right, Would shark on you, and men like ravenous fishes Would feed on one another…. Say now the king Should so much come too short of your great trespass As but to banish you, whether would you go? What country, by the nature of your error, Should give you harbour? go you to France or Flanders, To any German province, to Spain or Portugal, Nay, any where that not adheres to England, Why, you must needs be strangers: would you be pleased To find a nation of such barbarous temper, That, breaking out in hideous violence, Would not afford you an abode on earth, Whet their detested knives against your throats, Spurn you like dogs, and like as if that God Owed not nor made not you, nor that the claimants Were not all appropriate to your comforts, But chartered unto them, what would you think To be thus used? this is the strangers case; And this your mountainish inhumanity.

A Sea of We
Humanity, a sea of disparity, Left versus right, Peace versus fight, Rich versus poor, Compromise versus war, Freedom versus control, Part versus whole, Love versus hate, Right now versus wait, To me, there seems to be so few in-betweens. Are we destined to injure and kill, To justify our hate of the other extremes? Careful, my sisters, my brothers, From another father and mother, Know you not, Humanity is an interwoven tapestry? Pull one thread and you unravel The lives of countless others. There is no "them" or " they" in humanity. Only a sea of "us" and "we". How does one lone poet help people see How our perceptions perpetuate this insanity? Are we to be forever-embroiled In war and social turmoil for all eternity? Is this all we were born to be?

Idea for writing.
Humans living in a society in which technology advances backwards. People see labour and hard work as a good thing, a way of life to strive towards. Having a computer and being lazy is frowned upon, and hard work is the norm.
Hey, look at my Nokia!
You’re so lucky man, I hate my family they’re so wealthy. I’m still stuck with my shiny Iphone. I wish they were poor like your dad is.
He took a whole 5 weeks to get me this Nokia! All that hard work, it means so much to me, I can smell the sweat and effort..
Don’t tease me.
