“You want me to do what?” Irritated, I grab a water from the mini-fridge, take a swig, and slam the bottle down on the table in the middle of the living room of the hotel suite I’m in. “You’re fucking crazy, Jock,” I sneer. “It wasn’t my idea, Graham,” he replies, unfazed by my outburst as he sits quietly on the sofa. “I told you the added stipulation in the new contract the Comets are offering was completely new to me too.” “It’s fucking loco is what it is,” I grumble. It’s true. This latest development in contract negotiations is truly nuts. They want me to pretend to have a fake girlfriend. Are they off their rockers?  “How’s this even supposed to work?” I ask. “We’re hammering out the details.” “Great. Do I at least get to meet this mystery woman before I sign?” “No. There’s no time for that. You will meet her, though, before the season begins.” “Whatever,” I huff. “I can’t believe I’m supposed to pretend to be dating a girl I’ve never even seen. To top it off, I get to meet her just once, then I’m expected to act as if we’re in a serious relationship.” “Pretty much,” Jock confirms. This is bad, but there’s something more I’m struggling with—I’m supposed to also fucking move in with this pretend girlfriend. Could it get any worse?

CHARMING MARJANI (A Fada Shapeshifter Novel) by Rebecca Rivard
January 2nd
My Review
Fane and Jani's story had me falling into the Fada/Fae world. I loved that it takes place mostly in the Ice Fae court. The evil Fae genre is absolutely excellent when it's done well. I can't even tell you how much I want to know more about Fane's family. His dad, his grandad, his grandmother. The Ice Fae king, you want to hate him because he completely stands in the way of Fane and Jani, but I loved him. Rebecca Rivard, please write his story...whenever you can.
* I read an Arc
Title: Charming Marjani

Marjani's skin prickled. She sipped her ale and glanced around.
A tall, rangy man with shoulder-length blond hair slouched at a nearby table, drinking a beer. He met her eyes, not bothering to hide that he was checking her out.
Her breath snagged.
Holy singing crystals, he was beautiful, with slanted cheekbones and sky-blue eyes framed by dark eyelashes. His straight nose had a small bump on the bridge, a tiny imperfection that only heightened his appeal, and his black ribbed sweater stretched across a hard chest.
His cheek creased in a smile—and fear wrapped icy fingers around her lungs.
She jerked her gaze back to her sandwich, her stomach tight, heart thudding in her ears.
Fuck, she hated this. A couple of years ago, she might have smiled back, seen where this led. But not anymore. No one touched her. She didn’t even let members of the clan get too close.
A shadow fell across the table.
She snarled, her cougar rising to meet the threat. She forced it down. Shifting in the middle of a human pub could be fatal. The fada and humans had treaties about those things. A fada shifting in a pub for no reason would be automatically targeted by the authorities as feral.
She could be slapped in a cage—or shot on sight.
And she’d have to admit Adric was right after all—she was too broken, too close to going feral, to be out on her own.
The tall blond smiled down at her. Spoke.
Still fighting the cougar, she had to concentrate to make sense of his words.
“I said, mind if I join you?” A surprisingly deep voice, gravel wrapped in silk.
She shook her head. “Yes.”
He lifted a single dark brow. “No, you don’t mind, or yes, you do?”
“Yeah, I mind. I don’t want company.”
His gaze went to the slight lump her quartz made beneath her sweater. “Your accent is American, which means you’re from one of two clans.”
Fine hairs rose all over her body. He was correct; the only earth fada clans in North America were her own clan in Baltimore and the Navajo clan in Arizona.
But how the hell had he made her as an earth fada so fast?
Her nostrils flared, subtly testing the air. Human—he smelled of salt and iron—but with a trace of silver. The man had fae blood, although it might be so faint he didn’t know it himself. Overlaying it was a pleasant grassy scent, as if he spent a lot of time outdoors.
Her cat liked his smell, but the human part of her didn’t like that hint of fae. Not on top of the fact that he knew a little too much about earth fada.
She eased the switchblade from her pocket and released the catch with a quiet snick.
“You don’t want to use that.” He set his plate and glass on her table and took the chair across from her.
“No?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
USA TODAY bestselling author Rebecca Rivard read way too many romances as a teenager, little realizing she was actually preparing for a career. She now spends her days with dark shifters, sexy fae and other magical creatures—which has to be the best job ever.
Four of her books have been awarded the prestigious Crowned Review from InD'Tale Magazine, and her novel Saving Jace (#4, Fada Shapeshifters) received the 2018 RONE Silver Medal for Long Paranormal. Stealing Ula: A Fada Shapeshifter Prequel was a 2017 Finalist for the coveted PRISM Award given by RWA’s Fantasy, Futuristic & Paranormal Romance Chapter.

When I stumbled into a mafia run club seeking a job, I was looking for protection. Little did I know I’d need protection from him.
Conor O’ Callahan was exactly the kind of danger I was trying to avoid. He was gorgeous as sin with an accent hotter than Hades, but that’s where the charm ended.
He was also cynical, cold, and downright cranky.
So, you could imagine my surprise when he gave me a proposition. Marry him or lose my life.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. I’ve learned to do what’s necessary to survive in this world, and that includes marrying a mobster. Regardless of what he might say, it’s only temporary.
It’s not like I’m going to sleep with him. Or fall for him.
Because that would be stupid, right?

Untrainable by Jamie Schlosser

It doesn’t take much to become the laughing stock of reality television. Just ask Theodore “Theo-Dog” Legend. Once you’ve pissed on a fire hydrant in front of the paparazzi, no one ever lets you forget it.
Hadley Holiday is on her way to being America’s sweetheart, thanks to her dog training routine on a national talent show. Although she didn’t win first prize, she snagged Theo’s attention and he’ll do just about anything to make her his—even if it means being the butt of everyone’s joke once again.
Hadley wants a career in showbiz. Theo needs to get rid of that doggone nickname—pun intended. Pairing the two together on a new show sounds like a disaster waiting to happen... or it could be the best thing that’s ever happened to them.

“Okay. Change of plans—pie first, cleaning later. I get weepy when I’m hanky.”
“Hanky?” Theo followed me to the kitchen.
“It’s a portmanteau.” Walking over to the table, I removed the foil from the dish. Steam billowed up, carrying the heavenly scent of apples and cinnamon with it.
“I’m sorry, a what?” Sounding utterly confused, Theo went over to a small white coffee maker next to the sink and punched a button. It sputtered for a few seconds before the aroma filled the room.
He grabbed two mismatching mugs from the cabinet. Setting them down, he leaned back against the counter while he waited for me to explain.
“Blending two words to make one,” I said. “Hungry and cranky equals hanky.”
“Isn’t the term ‘hangry?’”
“No, I don’t think that fits. I don’t get mad,” I clarified. “Just irritable.”
“It’s kinda like my nickname, huh? Putting Theodore and dog together.”
“Yeah, kind of like that.” I grimaced because he obviously wasn’t a fan of the combination. “I’m sure whoever came up with that thought they were being very clever.”
“They probably got promoted.”
“Probably.”
“Well, I’m feeling mighty humpy myself.” When he said the word ‘humpy’, I could’ve sworn I saw his pelvis do a slight thrust.
I almost fell over. “Excuse me?”
He sent me a grin that did funny things to my stomach. “Portmanteau. Hungry and grumpy. Humpy.”
That was inappropriate but also correct. I couldn’t knock him for coming up with his own word, even if it did draw my attention to his groin.
I tried to force myself to look away from his lower half, but it was really difficult.
Because now that I wasn’t scrutinizing his living quarters, my thoughts went elsewhere: straight to the gutter.
The gray fabric of his pants stretched over his crotch, and he probably wasn’t wearing underwear because I could see a very distinct outline of his dick.
I didn’t mean to stare at it, but it was just right there. Out in the open. And alarmingly large. It was like spotting a rare animal in the wild. The thing practically needed its own Australian accented voiceover.
Inexperienced as I was when it came to actual sex, I wasn’t completely innocent. I knew what a semi-erect penis looked like. The length of it rested against his thigh and the definition of the thick head was impressive.
I swallowed hard.
“Hey.” Theo’s voice startled me, and my eyes snapped up to his.
My cheeks were on fire. I’d been caught, and I wanted nothing more than to sink under the table and hide.
“Hi,” I squeaked, lowering myself into the chair.
“Let’s just blame the rough start to the day on low blood sugar. Deal?”
Well, that wasn’t what I’d expected him to say, but it was a lot better than him calling me out for eye-balling his junk.
“Deal,” I responded. Then for my own benefit, I added the reminder, “I’m looking forward to being coworkers and friends.”
His left eyebrow arched on the word ‘friends.’
Dang it. Maybe he did see me checking him out after all.
For the sake of my sanity, I really hoped he was planning to wear jeans for the show. And maybe some underwear with crotch-confining support. Like a girdle, but for penises.

“They say nice guys always finish last. I say the only place that should apply is in the bedroom—it’s just good manners, after all.” – Brett MacKinnon, nice guy and frequent resident of the friend zone
LIV: There are really only three things I need in life: sex, baseball, and winning. My hot boyfriend and season tickets take care of the first two, while I always do my best to cover the last. So developing an unexpected crush on a new friend is more than a little inconvenient. I don’t have anything but friendship to offer Brett, but with the way he looks at me, he has me wishing I did.
BRETT: I’ve been put in the friend zone so often, they’ve got a sandwich named after me. You’d think I’d be used to it by now. But when it comes to the delectable Liv, I’m determined to ditch the friend zone and show her I’m boyfriend material. Too bad the position’s already been filled by a ball-playing caveman who could flatten me with his pinky.
What will it take to show Liv that nice guys can be more than just friends, and that love is the one game truly worth winning?

It was then I realized I was wearing a t-shirt, boxer briefs, and nothing else. Fuck. Me. I snatched the beer bottle up in a panic and turned to the sink. “Uh, yeah. So, I hope it’s okay that your dog just drank a beer.”
“Bo!” She scolded the dog but didn’t sound like she meant it. “You pledging a fraternity now?” I heard her pat him. “Go on. You cleaned it up enough.”
The dog smacked his jaws one more time and his nails clicked on the tile floor as he retreated to the living room.
I glanced over my shoulder. “Sorry I woke you up.”
“You didn’t. I was having trouble sleeping.” She sidled up to the counter next to the sink where I stood with my crotch pressed against the cabinet. “You know, unfamiliar bed,” she explained, leaning forward and propping her cheek on a hand. “What about you?” I swear I caught a smirk threatening.
“Uh, same. Couldn’t sleep.” This was ridiculous. “You want a beer? I’ve got a couple more in the fridge, unless you want to finish the one your dog started.”
“No, thanks.” She pushed back off the counter and I turned around without thinking. Her eyes shot right to my junk and I winced inwardly. My only hope was that it was too dark for her to see much of anything.
But it was no hope. She pulled her lips between her teeth to suppress her smile… or laugh… or whatever the hell she was thinking.
I threw my hands out, launching the paper towel roll over the counter and into the next room. “I’m a guy! What do you want me to say?” I brought one hand back in a gesture up and down her small frame. “A girl walks around in her underwear and the cock gets a mind of his own.”
Her mouth flew open and she looked down at her skimpy clothes. “I’m not in my underwear!”
“May as well be,” I shot back. I had nothing to lose at this point. I might as well have been standing there stark raving naked with my dick bobbing in the air.
“You’re the one in your underwear!” Again, she drew attention back to my straining cock before having the decency to look back up at my face.
“I guarantee the material I’m wearing could make six of what you’re wearing!”
“These are pajamas.” She pulled at the material of her top, making it stretch tighter over her tits.
“You’re not helping!” I shouted, which just brought her attention to my dick yet again. At this rate, it was likely to make an appearance over the waistband of my boxer briefs.
She crossed her arms. “Are you sure about that?” She raised a brow and I couldn’t take it anymore. I stalked past her. It wasn’t that I couldn’t find humor in the situation—or, more likely, wouldn’t be able to a few weeks from now. It was that I didn’t want to be a joke to her, and I was afraid that’s what I might be.
“I’m sorry.” She grabbed my arm as I passed, and the feel of her fingers flexing on my skin stilled me. “Sometimes I can’t help myself. I mean, you’re standing here in your underwear with a sizeable hard-on. It’s not like I can just ignore it.”
“I’d actually prefer if you did.” Then I paused and backtracked a few seconds. She said sizeable. Nice.

USA Today bestselling author Sylvie Stewart is addicted to Romantic Comedy and Contemporary Romance, and she’s not looking for a cure. She hails from the great state of North Carolina, so it’s no surprise that most of her books are set in the Tar Heel state. She’s a wife to a hilarious dude and mommy to ten-year-old twin boys who tend to take after their father in every way. Sylvie often wonders if they’re actually hers, but then she remembers being a human incubator for a gazillion months. Ah, good times.
Sylvie began publishing when her kids started elementary school, and she loves sharing her stories with readers and hopefully making them laugh and swoon a bit along the way. If she’s not in her comfy green writing chair, she’s probably camping or kayaking with her family or having a glass of wine while binge-watching Hulu. Or she’s been kidnapped—so what are you doing just sitting there?!!

Eleven years together and today I find out . . .
I don’t know the first thing about the man I’m sleeping beside every night.
My marriage is built on a bed of lies . . . Nothing is real.
Each day I’m barely surviving, falling deeper into despair and loneliness.
Meeting Hayes Taylor is not in my plan.
Younger, beautiful and broken—just like me. I feel a connection with him I’ve never experienced before. But I am a married woman, and cheating isn’t in my DNA. I ignore the sexual tension between us and push him away.
And like most women, I stay in my marriage for my kids.
But my husband not only manipulates, he keeps secrets I’m not prepared for.
Secrets that may destroy me . . .
This is not only my fight song, this is my journey to discover love.

❄️He ploughed a path straight to her heart…❄️
Zack Maynard likes to keep things simple in his small town: he runs his care home for the elderly, spends his evenings at his brother’s bar and climbs the hills and peaks of his area. His life is going just fine until Severton’s newest resident opens her hotel, steals his builders, complicates his Christmas and makes him crave more than just her baking.
Sorrell Slater thought she’d be starting her hotel with a husband; instead she’s in a new town, with a new business and trying to start a new life as a single woman, and she isn’t entirely sure she can do it. However, Severton isn’t a place that lets anyone struggle on their own, and Zack is more than happy to be her tour guide, making sure that both their Christmases sparkle. And as much as she tries to keep him in the friend zone, his persistent charm keeps ploughing through her barriers, right towards her heart.
But Severton is a town of secrets, ones that have been buried beneath the caves and peaks of the area. As independent as she’s become, this time Sorrell might just need Zack’s help to escape something deadlier than she thought a small town could hide.
Sleighed is the first book in the Severton Search and Rescue Series.
