I want to take time to express a moment of humbled appreciation and profound gratitude for the countless black revolutionaries who worked to abolish explicit slavery in the United States and free themselves and each other. The incredible bravery and sacrifice of every single one– the teachers, the guides, the rebels, the protectors, the activists, the mothers– echoes through the generations. I will spend my life trying to appreciate the weight of this struggle.Â
The United States is still enslaving black people through mass incarceration, and contemporary abolitionists are still actively in this fight. For other non-black folks in solidarity with this struggle, please take some time with me on Juneteenth to reflect on this history and commit to the ways in which you can aid the fight against slavery and work to end policing, incarceration, and white supremacy.Â
Revolution is not an event, but a continuous process.Â
Within the seated sections of the hallowed Churchill Downs, the upper-crust don hats of elegance and style, a creative millinery of all shapes, tastes, and sizes.
you guys remember when PETA stole people pets off their porches and euthanized them?
you guys remember how it came out that PETA kills about 90% of the animals it takes in, including healthy and adoptable puppies and kittens, stating “ We could become a no-kill shelter immediately. It means we wouldn’t do as much work”?
you guys remember when PETA advocated killing all pit bulls for the crime of being pit bulls?
you guys remember when PETA handed out these comics to children when there were no adults looking?
you guys remember when they made a porn site and then filled it with videos of animal abuse, and (also in that link) claimed cats should be vegetarian?
you guys remember when PETA lied about sheep shearing, got caught, and defended the lie as true even after they admitted the sheep in their picture wasn’t even real?
you guys remember when they tried to excuse their horrifying ways by claiming that the person who exposed them was manipulating the facts by taking them and putting them in the wrong context?
Because I remember. I remember everything.Â
And I’m gonna make sure everyone else remembers too.Â
PUNCHES A WALL I fucking finally finished this song comic thing! I did the first two verses over two years ago? And when TRK came out I got really pumped because it suited the last verse! So well! And I sketched it out and then proceeded to literally procrastinate for an entire year
I was aiming to get this up last week for the one year anniversary of TRK/St Mark’s Eve, but life got in the way so it’s a bit late (but finally it is done, let me rest,)Â
I don't know if this is true, but I sincerely hope that it is.
June 7th, 1942: Edward Hopper completes his best known painting, the seminal Nighthawks. When asked by a Chicago Tribute reporter about the philosophical meaning behind the diner having no clearly visible exits Hopper responded, “Shit. Fuck. I did it again. Goddamnit. Fuck. Not again. I did it again. Shit.” and slammed his hat on his leg.
