The site's opening could not happen at a better time. Getting a week vacation off from work and have nothing to do with my time other than plot my baby Norah and probably fight off additional character feels.

norah miller's overall persona under the cut
the biggest thing to stand out about norah is just how dedicated of a mother she is. never once in her mind was there a thought that norah would give up her baby girl. after her parents gave her the ultimatum of pick your unborn mistake of a child or pick your future the decision wasn't at all difficult to make. she felt connected to her baby from the moment she knew that she was pregnant and her parent's attitude toward her and her mistakes didn't change that in the slightest. norah has always put charlotte first. she loves her little girl to pieces and every decision she's made in her life has been for charlotte's benefit. she works as a waitress to make sure that food and a roof is available for her, all of her decisions and the people in her life are meant to be a good influence to charlotte, etc. because of this her focus is very linear. if it's not about charlotte, norah tends to not really let it register immediately.

she's a hard worker for sure and always has been. she was always a very good student to the point where she had nearly effortlessly made it to the top of her class merely because she hadn't indulged in all of the things her fellow students had dabbled in and instead had been a disciplined student. that was why her pregnancy and everything that followed was so difficult for her parents to wrap their heads around. she had been such a devoted and dedicated student with a perfectly planned out future and for her to stray pretty much at the last moment had been more than her mother and father could bear. they didn't get how a girl who played piano, was a cheerleader, and was the third in her class could falter so completely and felt as though she had ruined her life by becoming and, more importantly, remaining pregnant. still norah approached her new challenges in life like she did everything. she put her head down and she worked up until two weeks prior to her due date. she went back to work as soon as she could, leaving her baby in the trusted hands of a newfound friend. she's done everything she could to get back onto her feet after having everything pulled out from under her and she's proud of that accomplishment.

she's a very, very good and loyal friend as long as someone has earned that friendship and hasn't made her regret that decision. she can be very understanding as well. basically with norah you've got a friend for life. though she doesn't easily forgive she does like to see the best in people and she doesn't enjoy holding onto a grudge. she wants friends and she sees them as her new family and support system since her other support system kind of just left her high and dry.

norah hasn't been in a real relationship since midway through high school. she was always too focused on school and doing the right thing. she didn't go to many parties and she didn't indulge in most vices until school was nearly over and that was where all of her mistakes were made so she's certainly not too keen on jumping into that snake pit a second time. needless to say her focus is so much on charlotte that she doesn't even register when guys are hitting on her in the restaurant. she wouldn't see a man's kindness and motives unless someone pointed it out to her because she's got her baby blinders on. she's not too determined to get involved in something simply because she doesn't want to heave her baggage into some guy's lap. so though she does go on the occasional date it usually doesn't go very far. she has yet to really be bothered by it though she does get lonely from time to time.

norah miller's history under the cut.
so here are a few details about my upcoming girl norah:
born and raised in woodcreek, or. her parents were both big shot lawyers who moved to woodcreek when they found out they were pregnant with norah. they wanted a simpler life for their daughter and they didn't want to raise her in a big city. they took their big-city earnings and bought a decent place in woodcreek where they had set up a small family-owned firm.
norah lived a decent childhood growing up. she pretty much wanted for nothing but it didn't turn her into a brat. her parents made sure that they raised a smart girl with morals and manners. despite their successes in the big city, norah was their biggest accomplishment. they were the quintessential supportive parents. they were both at every dance recital, they chaperoned field trips and school dances. no one could ever say that the millers weren't dedicated. this was in part due to the fact that norah had no other siblings. they wanted her to feel loved.
she was a good student in school. she made her way up the rankings to the top ten in the school with ease, putting her concentration into her studies and extracurriculars instead of her hormones. it wasn't very easy but she managed. still she wasn't one of those bookworm loners who held out at the back of the classroom. she was eloquent and extraverted. she had a group of friends one might consider popular who got her into cheerleading as they all reached high school. she did the whole juggling thing rather well. most people would refer to her as superhuman. in reality she really did have a superb amount of discipline. it was hard not to when her parents raved about how proud they were of her.
all of the puzzle pieces were in place. she had applications out to a bunch of decent schools around the country, her focus on nyu. she was looking at the third best school ranking in her graduating class and her possibilities were endless. after some begging, norah finally gave into her friends and promised them that she would join them at a house party the night after graduation.
at the party she'd had one too many drinks by mistake. her friends kept pushing them at her, getting a kick out of her drunken antics. they thought it was a riot that the "perfect princess" was finally behaving like a bad girl. after a while the novelty wore off and they left her alone in a bedroom at the party. a friend of hers from around town managed to stumble upon her in the bedroom and took care of her for the most part. somewhere in both of their drunken hazes they ended up sleeping together.
norah remembered very little of that night and had woken up alone so she really didn't consider that anything had happened until a month or so later. when other kids in her class were enjoying their summers and planning on how they would get out of the small town and to their colleges of choice, norah had her head in the toilet and was puking up her breakfast, lunch, or dinner. she went to the doctor to figure out how to treat her stomach-thing and found out that she was pregnant. the doctor, the father of a friend of norah's from cheerleading, failed to keep a tight lip and alerted his daughter and thus the whole town before norah even had a chance to notify her parents.
they freaked out on her, yelling at her for making such a "stupid-girl mistake" when she was such a brilliant girl. suddenly she couldn't do right in their eyes. the daughter they were so proud of was tainted and they just couldn't accept her anymore. they kicked her out of her childhood home, leaving her to use the money she'd saved up for college to get an apartment while she looked for a job in town. norah knew she couldn't handle college and a baby at the same time so she opted not to attend nyu and instead enrolled in some online classes which she took while she wasn't waiting tables.
fast forward a year or so and norah is still here in the small town, still waiting tables at the local mom and pop restaurant. she's doing the best she can to raise her child as a single mother both without the child's father and without her parents to support her. every day is a struggle for her but she's learned a routine that has worked for her. of course that pretty much comes with no life and a reliance on those around her who she knows she can truly trust. she doesn't feel like she's fallen from grace. even if that's what everyone from her graduating classes says she did.
