When did Light suddenly become insane and gain a god complex? Also why was he laughing in his head about people dying?
my interpretation of this character is constantly evolving, so i cant speak so surely but here are my opinions now :3
his god complex wasnt caused by the death note, but rather set free by it. he always had a superiority complex because he was better at everything compared to everyone he knew, he was never bad at anything and never did wrong. was never told he was wrong, so when he killed his first victims he wouldnt be able come to terms with himself possibly doing evil, so he tries to justify his actions by convincing himself they deserved to die.
soon he takes on the mission of cleansing the world, because what other candidate is more suitable than himself? the most superior person he knows? his superiority complex soon evolves into a god complex. he is happy killing criminals, he thinks he is happy because he is helping the world, but its because it feeds into his god complex and need for power
