a doll hearing about an old friend.
an old friend that hurt it so badly in so many ways, that the doll's old self became everything they hated to get away from them.
that old, once-was friend is doing well.
they're doing better than they used to be.
in a strange way, the doll is happy for them.
the doll, even now, was still thinking of them from time to time. wondering how they were. wondering where they ended up.
strange entities sailing in stranger circles.
maybe if it met its witch back then, maybe things wouldn't have turned out the way it did.
but, at this point -
even if it still hopes its old friend will never meet it again -
it wishes them happiness.
two ships passing in the night.
may they never meet again.

A doll that clings to its witch.

There's something behind it.
It squeezes its eyes closed and clings desperately to its witch.

And carries it through to safety.
