Playing dress-up, making amends for the "mistreatment" of the dwarves in Mirkwood long ago, haaaa! "I'll be the king that hosts you graciously."

More thoughts. Thranduil is his son's wingman. He tries to get Legolas to talk to the pretty girlies at all the elven parties, but Legolas would rather be out somewhere, discovering new shades of butterfly wings or finding what gifts the river leaves for him. Legolas is charming enough. However, he talks too long on specific subjects and has a tendency to respond quite literally in conservation (sarcasm is something he has to practice), which creates awkward moments. He's actually not interested in dating at all.

Eh, quick sketch. I feel like Gimlis too tall. I like really drastic height differences.

Short haired Leggy: Everyone finds Legolas odd, even his fellow elves back at Mirkwood, much to Thranduils dismay. I'm a fan of Legolas being an odd duck among his people and breaking some traditions, all the while being recognized as a skilled archer and loyal prince.

Gimli thought of most elves as being vain and pretentious until he really met Legolas. The elf doesn't act mighty because of his many years, but instead is humbled by it. That's why the cutting of his length of hair (which is a literal tradition that spans across time itself) is frowned upon. Even dwarfs value their hair, so Gimli is taken back by Legolas's appearance.

Then he finds out Legolas dances to the beat of his own drum and just how chill he is. And Legolas starts to appreciate Gimli as well.

(Note, the exposure of Legolas's earlobes/hair styled to turn focus on ears is slightly scandalous, as these are usually veiled by hair. It's a weird elf thing.)

Short hair Leggy: Legolas went through a rebellious phase and cut his hair to piss off daddy. Because elves cherish their glorious hair (understandable) but Legolas doesn't care about those things and he wanted to spite his father. He wasn't prepared for Thranduil to be so upset.

I don't think I'll finish this. Daddy Thranduil and his babbeh.

I'm reading LOTR. I wanted a visual of how tiny hobbits are. (Aragorn is taller than average human. Frodo is taller than his companions.)

Bonus: Thranduil is a kind king in the Hobbit. He's feeling himself, dressed as a deer for a elf party.
