Wearing contact lenses for the first time in a while is so funny because my glasses make my eyes look smaller and when I'm not wearing either I can't really see my face clearly in the mirror, so when I wear contacts lenses my eyes look enormous in comparison

Why do people need subtitles to watch a show in English? I don't get it. What is wrong with the ears of young people?

If people were too mean to you when you were growing up, a newborn animal will materialize inside your brain and it’s so so scared and shivering and it will stay there for years. Decades, even. And whenever you say something kind of weird but true to your heart the animal will tell you “Noo! You can’t say that! If you say that, everyone will hate you!”. The animal means well. It’s so so small and everything is so scary for them and it’s just trying to protect you. But listen to me. Listen to me. Whenever this happens, you can’t do what the animal says. You can’t. If you do, you’ll become as scared as the animal. You have to keep saying weird shit. You have to keep doing things the animal wouldn’t approve of. If you do enough things that scare the animal, maybe one day it’ll go to sleep.

My one friend group can't stop saying, "See you in hell!" in a cheerful voice instead of, "Talk to you later!" and my other friend group can't stop calling things "penis" instead of "cool" or "good", so I just unironically uttered the phrase, "Sounds penis, see you in hell," as I got off the phone.

children existing in public spaces is genuinely like. necessary for the continuation of society. it doesnt have to be your kids you dont have to volunteer at a daycare or whatever but you need to be able to tolerate the presence of someone who is learning how to exist as a human and interact with people

You know that Chris Fleming line that goes "Call yourself a community organizer even though you're not on speaking terms with your roommates"?
I honestly think every leftist who talks about the "revolution" like Christians talk about the rapture needs to spend a year trying to organize their workplace. Anyone who sincerely talks about building a movement so vast and all-encompassing that it overwhelms all existing power structures needs the dose of humility that comes with realizing they can't even build a movement to get people paid better at a badly run AMC Theaters where everyone already hates the manager.

We observed him feasting cautiously. With the look of fear in his eyes as his father stood before him. Uncertain of his status, and seeking acceptance. I'm glad he's finally found some stability with the pride.

One year my partner worked in a nut free classroom and one of the kids came to school with a peanut butter sandwich every day and had to be sent to a different room every day post lunch. Every day the father would be told he cannot bring peanut butter and ever day the father would roll his eyes and send him to school with peanut butter again.
The kid had a brother in a different class, one that was not nut free, and never brought peanut butter. So it was 100% the dad doing it on purpose because he was told not to. At what point is it intentional child endangerment?
Once on a school trip, a girl snuck sugar packets into the drink of a diabetic kid and laughed when she got caught. These were 17 and 18 year olds. I know diabetes isn't an allergy but still.
Intentionally triggering an allergic reaction should be treated like poisoning. It's attempted murder.
I wasn’t going to derail the disability pride month post for people with peanut allergies but in relation to that topic
I have never seen another allergy that has been so viscerally hated and mocked by people working in education like nut allergies. I’ve seen fellow teachers cringe that their classroom was the “nut free” classroom that year. Support staff that are trained and willfully don’t follow cross contamination protocol in the lunchroom because it’s too “tedious” or “time-consuming”. Full preschools + childcare centers that refuse to accommodate nut allergies. Schools where the only free lunch is a PB&J. Before/after school programs and summer programs whose food curriculum has nuts and doesn’t provide an alternative activity.
Allergy discrimination is so so insidious and prevalent. It’s happening behind their back and it is everything from the exposure joke to possibly causing someone to go into anaphylaxis from willful ignorance.
Also other parents in the classroom are guilty too. The “not my child not my problem” brain rot means that those lunchboxes are like bombs for airborne exposure allergies
