Hooray! Today is the fluffiest day of the year — International Pallas's cat day.
Congratulations to all manulovers! 😻
Our favorite manul is one of the oldest Felidae which has survived to this day without changing his beautiful appearance. They shared the planet with saber-toothed cats and outlived many of their contemporaries. Just imagine how lucky we are that we can enjoy living together with this fluffy relict treasure!
Thank you to everyone who work to study and preserve manuls in the wild and in zoos 🙏
Our dear Bol has an anniversary today! He turned 10 years old today! 🥳
Happy birthday to you – a beautiful fluffy samurai!
Be healthy, vivacious, and happy! May your paws always be strong, your meat juicy, your stump comfortable, and your keepers caring. And, most importantly, may your lovely Polly always be in a good mood! 🙌🏻😄
So who she is and where did this mysterious furry lady come from?
Namika is 5 years old, she was born in the Brno Zoo, Czech Republic on June 6, 2018 as a result of a sudden and completely unplanned by the zoo staff members romance between the beautiful Rosa and the young manul named Makalu (later he moved to America, got a permanent residence there, changed his documents, and became Misha 🥸😁).
Namika got her beautiful «mountain» name in Brno Zoo — Namika La is a high mountain pass in the Himalayas.
At the age of 1.5 years old our furry star moved to St. Petersburg, to the Leningrad Zoo.
Namika instantly charms with her unusually expressive look: captivating and as if slightly wet, with a dramatic effect of smudged mascara, as if she were a silent movie actress!
A real furry muse! She's the one the Silver Age manul poets would write poems about and go to duels over! 🤭
From his early days, he has been the main fidget, the ringleader, and the bandit among Eve's furry five. He remains the bravest, most active, and curious of the brothers.
He doesn’t have an official name yet, but given his character and the distinctive “arrow” on his forehead (pictured on the left), we call him Molniya (Молния - means Lightning) ⚡️.
If you manage to see or photograph any of the three brothers (who now live together), it's most likely going to be him: Molniya 😄.
She's 9 months old now. She doesn't have an official name yet, but many manulovers call her Grustinka (a sad little one) because of her funny baby photo on which she was sitting between the trees, with a long face because she had tired of playing :)
As darkness falls earlier in winter on Leningrad Zoo, lights are turn on in the enclosures for a short period of time, which creates a special fairytale atmosphere of magic and cosiness, and gives us a unique opportunity to watch the mysterious manuls after sunset… or being watched 👀😸
Shu the Pallas's cat is 8 months old now. He was born on 24 May 2023 in Leningrad Zoo, in a family of beautiful Namika and brutal Swen.
Meet Sven (Свен) the manul, father of the handsome Shu 😺
He's one of the most mysterious furry residents of the Leningrad Zoo and a rare guest on our channel!
Sven is a hereditary Petersburger, born on May 20, 2014, at the Leningrad Zoo in the family of the famous manul Sinok (Сынок) (the one who was raised by zoologists) and Vtora (Втора).
We don't know much about our hero's youth, but nowadays, Sven is an avid homebody and rarely ventures of his den 🛖.
But even when we glimpsed at him, when he was peeking out, we were amazed by his brutality. Grumpy, experienced and authoritative – these are the epithets that instantly come to mind when we see Sven, and a scar on his nose only adds to his charm, mystery, and masculinity. All in all, he is an extremely serious cat! 🔥
P.S. Apologies for the poor quality of the photo; unfortunately, we couldn't take a better one :/
