♕ — Sipping loudly her straw to let him know that she was there, Natasha leaned casually against the pillar as she looked about the room. Her curls were down to her back and she wore a simple summer dress to allure and not give off any alarms for him. She wanted him comfortable and at ease. And maybe not aware of the dagger that she still had holstered just in case. When he came into view, she flashed him a smile. “Good, you’re awake,” she said as she pushed herself up and picked up the styrofoam cup from the small table before she simply held it up for him to take. “I didn’t know how you liked your coffee but I figured you’d be just straight black kind of guy.” She took another sip and nodded to the door. “We’re going for a walk and talk for a bit, if that’s okay. You can show me around Brooklyn.”

“Well. While you were off on your solo mission, Rogers has been running us ragged trying to find answers about Barnes and Hydra. No joke, we did back to back raids for three days in a row before Peggy finally stopped it.” Clint beamed at her, then his smile softened. “Would’ve been more fun if you were there though. I probably wouldn’t have almost decapitated myself. Twice. Long story,” he said, waving a hand through the air. He took a sip of his drink. “So was that a real I’m okay, or just the shut up Clint one?”

♕ — Natasha dropped her gaze at the mention of Barnes and it was the only reaction she gave before she simply looked back at her friend. “Well, I’m glad Fury pulled me when he did then,” she said with a hint of a chuckle and she shifted to lean back against the railing crossing one arm over the other. “It’s a bit of both,” she answered and shrugged. “I’m always going to be okay, Clint. I’m the least of your worries and you know that.”

   There was a bit of a limp in her step as she made her way over with the pack of frozen peas. There was a slight panic that was rising up in Riri at the sight but she knew Natasha was more than capable of handling herself despite only knowing her for a short time. Still, Riri couldn’t help but be concerned. “Are you okay?”

♕ — “Yeah, I’m fine.” The answer fell easily from her lips as it had popped in her mind to say it. At this point, the response was automatic. She made her way over to her couch and dropped down before she propped one of her feet on the coffee table. “My concern is with you. Are you sure you’re okay?”

  Riri almost jumped when she heard her voice and cleared her throat. She nodded, “Yeah– just peachy.” She lied as she straightened out but now turned to face her. “What about you? You kinda just went m.i.a on me.”

♕ — “Yeah, unfortunately it’s a causality to knowing me,” Nat said as she pushed herself back and grabbed a pack of frozen peas from her freezer before she placed it on her left side of her ribcage. “Just got back from a mission, so I’m ready to sit and not move from the next 24 hours.”

♕ — Unlocking her door, Natasha stepped into her apartment and sighed softly as she kicked off her shoes. She glanced around as she quietly shut the door behind her and made her way over to her kitchen island. She searched through the cabinets before she simply glanced over at the noise that she heard. “Hey, kid,” she remarked. “You doing okay?”

♕ — Looking for an exit, Natasha spied a familiar face. “Can you even concentrate by the speaker,” she asked teasingly as she came up beside Pepper as an American Classic was blasting to the party. “It’s nice to see you out of the office though.”

   There was a flash of that room again. The one that haunted most of his nightmares sometimes. He shook the thoughts from his mind and tried to take in a deep breath to pull himself back to reality. Breathing. Pepper had been reminding him to breathe especially when things like this occur to find that sense of clarity again but it was hard to not think back when he kept seeing her face. He snapped back when she spoke at him now, “Sorry, you just look… strangely familiar but.. I suppose you’re right. It’ll have to be another day though. I think they said everything’s already paid for?”

♕ — Nat had been briefed on his arrival but she wasn’t entirely sure how she felt about being face to face with the soldier who had taught her almost everything she knew. Who had trained her to be a killer. But as she looked him over, she could tell that he was struggling with those memories as well. “Well, we do know each other, at least old versions of one another,” she said with a tilt of her head. “But that’s for another occasion.” She glanced over at the bar and nodded. “I don’t think Tony would ever let his guests pay for a drink for any of his events. Lucky us.”

“It’s a nice look on you,” Clint called, walking up to stand beside her. He had another drink already in his hand for her, and held it out wordlessly. “The blonde, I mean. Course now I can’t call you Red, but Thor was starting to think I was talking to him when I said it so… Probably for the best.” He smirked over at her, then his expression softened. “How you been, Nat?”

♕ — Natasha glanced over at Clint before she looked up as if she was checking out her hair. She blew out a puff of hair to move a stray strand out of her eyes and simply shrugged her shoulders. “I didn’t need my signature color for my last mission, so the blonde is here for now until it grows back out,” she replied. “I’m okay,” she replied as she always did. “Sore but okay. How are you?”

   Bucky didn’t know why she looked so familiar. There was this blur in his mind and he wondered if he was just blocking it. They said that would happen. If the mind isn’t ready to process something then it won’t and Bucky had a lot of blurs lately. He found himself staring at her a little too long before he forced himself to look away but it was too late. The eye contact was there and now he was uncomfortable. Perhaps this was one of those moments where maybe he should just walk away.

♕ — Nat didn’t need to be looking in his direction to know that he was looking at her. She had also been made aware that he had been brought in and being rehabilitated. That didn’t stop the past from flashing in her mind. She drummed her fingernails against the railing before she plucked the empty glass back up and raised a brow in his direction. “If you’re going to stare, you might as well offer to get a drink for me. Least you could do.”

♕ — With her newly dyed blonde curls, Natasha made her way into the party a little late as usual. This time, she blamed Fury, but it didn’t matter. She managed to make it. She reached out to grab herself a flute of champagne and winced at the pain that sprang from her ribs. She took a deep breath and leaned against one of the railings. She searched the crowd for a moment before she gulped down her drink and set the empty glass back down.

He met Nat in the lobby after checking on Morgan and letting the nanny know he’d be gone for the night. Once they were settled on the jet and in the air, Tony took a seat beside Natasha and moved his arms around her so she was settled against him. “We still never technically finished that conversation we’ve been trying to have for three months.”

♕ — It didn’t take long for Nat to be changed and ready. She always had a pack ready in her apartment for when SHIELD sent her on her next mission. Though, it was nice to actually use it for relaxing purposes. As she stretched out, Nat tipped her head back to look up at him. “You mean, you don’t want to keep dancing around it for another three months and annoy everyone on the team with it? I thought you enjoyed being a general thorn in people’s sides.”

“Not to me they’re not.” Tony looked at her for a moment, before sliding his hand into hers. “Let’s be on our way, then.” He smirked and gave her hand a squeeze, pulling his phone out so he could get the jet ready and waiting for them. “You want to go get whatever you need and meet me in the lobby in about 15?”

♕ — Nat didn’t reply, instead allowed her fingers to weave their way between his. She slowly nodded at his instructions before she leaned up and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “I’ll see you in fifteen minutes, Tony,” she said and gently pulled back from him.

“I need to be distracted from wedding planning,” she closed the magazine and let out a breath. “My head’s about to explode.”

♕ — “You can’t be stressed already,” Nat glanced over at the other and chuckled softly. “you just got engaged. Isn’t there supposed to be a time frame where you’re supposed to enjoy everything before you get stressed.”

“I’m getting better at reading you. Black Widow, no. She could lie circles around me and I’d never know in a million years. Natasha’s a little different sometimes,” he replied, hand lightly grazing the side of her face. Tony smirked when he caught her gaze and dropped his hand. “The cabin I have by the lake? No one will know we’re there.”

♕ — “One in the same,” Nat replied with her tone light and teasing despite how honest her words were. But at his suggestion, she manage a smile. A break away sounded more fun than an engagement party. As happy as she was for Thor and for Jane, she needed some peace. Something she didn’t get very often. “Sounds perfect, Tony.”

  Riri’s attention turned quickly in the direction of her voice. There was a sense of relief when she saw her face because if she was being honest she wasn’t sure if she was going to show up or just let her fend for herself here with all sorts of familiar and yet so unfamiliar faces. She glanced at the glass for a moment before she glanced at her with a half smile, “Yeah.. but I froze up.” She admitted, “What am I supposed to say? I admire you but I have some ideas of things you can add to spice up the suit?” She asked with a slight laugh.

♕ — “That’s normal,” Nat said in hopes that her words would be some comfort. She knew that all this was a lot and if she had been a bit better-- and had more notice-- she wouldn’t have used this party as an introduction. But it was what had fallen into their laps and Nat was determined to make it useful for Riri anyway. “No, please do say that,” Nat said and grinned as she looked over at the other. “Make sure I’m within sight when you do because I would pay a lot to see his expression when you do.”

He snorted. “No. The two of us got stuck on a long ass ride back home with the Golden Retriever.” Tony looked down at her. “You are a horrible liar, Natasha Romanoff.” He rolled his eyes, teasingly. “You know you could have just told me about her, tesoro. Like a normal person. Instead of this little game you played.” He smirked, “We can take the jet though, yeah. Morgan’s nanny was staying the night anyway. Where do you want to go?”

♕ — Looking up at him with amusement, Nat let out a soft snort. “Now, that’s not true. If you’ve caught me in a lie, it’s only because I’ve allowed myself to be caught. And last time I checked, you liked games.” She finished off her drink and nodded. “Anywhere where we don’t have to be Ironman and Black Widow would be nice.”
