Organic Farming - healing Earth from chemicals
Tumblr media
I had been eating food grown by organic farming for some time; however I actually didn't know anything about it. Reality be informed, I still know little. You see, the kind of natural farming that I was doing, growing small plots of my own things, was much different from the agriculture that goes on at the huge natural farms spread throughout the nation.
They need to mass produce, or in this case, grow crops and huge scale by executing extremely pricey farm devices with methods to manage pests from destroying the crops. For me, I had hardly satisfy all of my requirements, and I had to actually use my hands in order to   rectify the damage done by those pesky little rodents without resorting to a natural substances which were the bane of natural farming.
The first thing I needed to handle was slugs. Did you realize that you could eliminate slugs utilizing beer? Unless you currently have tried your hand with natural farming you probably didn't even understand that slugs were such a problem. Really, the only way to obtain these people is constant watchfulness. You really do need to remain on them.
But far even worse to natural farming and slugs are those rascally bunnies. You see, unlike my next-door neighbours, I never have actually sprayed my lawn, so I have actually always had a family of charming little bunnies living in my yard. I truly like it till I have discovered that they are bilkers destroying the crops. But there are two things bunnies are known for, and the lower known one is equally impressive. My God, those cute little people are consuming devices. And yes, they simulate carrots as much as everyone says. They truly made my very first venture into natural farming and fascinating ride.

CSA – helping growing organic
Tumblr media
The bigger the farm is the most likely that the farm has to resort to techniques that are ecologically sustainable and organic. The large size of the farm demands it. Many individuals need to feel the exact same way due to the fact that CSAs, (neighbourhood supported agriculture) are becoming extremely popular. Exactly what are CSAs? CSA's are farms where the surrounding community is directly involved with the growing of food. Individuals become members of a CSA and pay membership cost and for that they get weekly seasonal veggies and fruits throughout the growing season. Due to the fact that because of bad weather condition or blight, members share the danger that is involved in farming such as not getting good crop.
CSA were first developed about 20 years earlier in the 80s to practice farming in an environmentally well balanced manner. These farms use Organic or biodynamic farming methods. There are about 2,500 CSAs throughout the United States according to Local Harvest, a natural and regional food website. The concept for this sort of farming came from Europe. Here in the United States these farms were first started in the North east and now have actually spread out to the West Coast. In some parts of the country there are not enough of these farms to keep up with the need (details source the USDA).There are numerous advantages for both the farmer and the members to this sort of community farming.
For the farmer he gets to invest less time marketing and gets to offer his items before his long 16 hour days in the field starts. He has sufficient cash circulation to run things efficiently. Farming risks are shared with the neighbourhood. For the CSA members it is getting the best, in season, local, and organic foods. Reconnecting to the land and understanding where their food originates from is another.
Getting to know the farmer who grows food is really fantastic. Another unforeseen benefit is kids appear to like consuming vegetables from these farms that they would not eat if bought from a market. So with community supported farming individuals gain back sense of genuine neighbourhood, that sense of connection to each other and to that of the land and our stewardship of the environment.
