19. She/Her while I figure myself out. My only constant is bluescreening at cute people. Do not expect much of me irl. Fuck you Matt, Car Hammer Explosion!“I will no longer be complicit in genocide”- Aaron Bushnell
All the tarp you see are human bodies. How many of those tarp covered bodies didn't make it to see their 18th birthday? How many didn't get to see the 1st birthday of their child? How many didn't get to celebrate retirement? These are human lives being ripped away at an alarming rate.
There should be no reason you can't step outside without seeing a decomposing child, mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, uncle, aunt, brother, sister, friend, or lover.
They had lives and yet they are buried next to the sidewalk? Would you be okay with your loved one being buried next to the sidewalk? No. No you wouldn't.
The US government recently tried to pass a bill that would make it illegal to boycott. Consumers saying that we refuse to buy from companies that fund or support genocide DOES have power and impact. The BDS movement also isn't an overnight trend. It can last years or even decades. That's the commitment. So what do you mean we aren't doing much? Many stores have had to be closed, and lots of money has been lost for Starbucks and McDonald's, as just 2 examples.
I also already wrote about the dangerous slippery slope of censorship. It doesn't make a difference if you don't like tiktok (even though, just to clarify -tiktok has a plethora of content, which includes plenty of amazing educational content creators too) -it's also where A LOT of people get accessible, up-to-date information about world events -including what has been happening in Gaza. You know -the genocide the US and many fellow countries are vehemently denying. A genocide that is being funded by US tax dollars.
"Emotional thinking" is also a very interesting concept to me because where do you think this passion comes from Congressional Representatives? Who so desperately want to shut down an app more than they want to end gun violence, to push for rent control, free tuition, universal Healthcare...
This defeatist mentality -this apathetic mentality is killing people. Shame on you.
A Girl Scout troop leader in Missouri was threatened with legal action by the organization after her troop tried to sell bracelets to raise money for Gaza, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Nawal Abuhamdeh said that it had been the children’s idea to sell bracelets to raise money for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. She said that the members of her troop, including her own 10 year-old daughter, had been deeply emotionally impacted by Israel’s brutal military campaign in Gaza, which has killed more than 29,000 people, and at least 10,000 children. “I’m grieving. We are all grieving. We literally couldn’t muster the energy to sell cookies,” Abuhamdeh said.
Soon after making a post about the fundraiser, Abuhamdeh said she received an email from the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri organization, alerting her that her troop could not support “partisan politics,” and needed to “stay neutral.” The email said that the fundraiser had violated the organization’s governing documents, and that if the troop went forward with their plan, the organization would engage legal counsel to “protect the intellectual property and other rights of the organization.”
This problem is nothing new, but this specific example with these numbers puts it into a fucking brutal perspective.
To put these numbers a different way: A Taco Bell burrito that used to cost ~7 minutes and 20 seconds of minimum wage work now costs ~30 minutes and 30 seconds of minimum wage work.
You used to be able to work at Taco Bell anywhere in the country and make enough money in one hour to buy at least 8 burritos (maybe 9 if you're a manager or something) and feed, like, 3-4 people a decently-filling meal. But now, the same amount of work at the same job will get you one meal for one person. And this change has happened over a mere 15 years.
Remember this whenever you see rich people demonize younger generations for our financial situations, when they call us irresponsible for not investing a ton of money in savings accounts.
