Shaky Shivers (2023) Am I back on a review kick (only on stuff I liked) I've been curious of this one after missing it on last year's festival circuit. The best way to sum it up is it's very cute and has epic yet random monsters. It's a store of two dorky but endearing friends that work in a humbling job. As an 80s sitcom addict I couldn't help but think of them as Tootie and Natalie from Facts of Life as if they accidentally got trapped in a Tales from the Crypt comic. The characters and monsters are all great. I love the misfit friendship and just how slapstick and random the encounters they have with more and more monsters or evil in general. The randomness is supposed to be part of the charm and I agree it is BUT it also suffers with some of the pay off. The matter of fact of everything does add to the friends personas but also suffers in the pacing in my opinion. They deal with Werewolves, Zombies, Witches and cults as well as Bigfoot. I kind of hoped each creature did something much more shocking and upsetting to juxtapoz the cuteness of the unlikely hero duo. Instead each monster and mishap just leads to the next with not enough growing tension or consequence. Sure you don't want this movie to be too dark cause that's part of the irony but I feel there's gotta be a middle ground. It was very refreshing for these characters to be hip yet damaged but still likeable, which is rare these days. All this and again the monsters looked great. Each creature was very creative which is probably why I wanted more. I could imagine these two friends dealing with this each week in a tv show. So even though I had an issue with the pacing I liked this a lot , enough to wish I had more. Imagine Tootie and Natalie crossed with Tucker and Dale and Jack Brooks Monster Slayer.

The weirder parts of #tubi i have been getting me through some rough times. Watch "bad" movies to lift your soul and enlighten your guts. I don't review films anymore unless requested too but here are 4 fast reviews of the weirder parts of tubi this week. 1 Vampires and other stereotypes was the only Visual Vengeance Blu ray I forgot to buy physically and thank goodness it was here. Felt more like a lost Todd Sheets film than expected. Vampires are more the twist then the plot but super wild for a no budget romp done in a warehouse pretending to be in hell. I think I expected zanier and funnier. 2 Vampire Time Travelers is basically a high school budget produced Saturday night Live sketch starring porn stars not willing to commit to porn. I love it. So funny, always on the go. All set in a house that feels like a Slumber party massacre spoof on home video with very funny girls. Cameraman Dennis Devine ahh it all makes sense now. 3 Saurians 2 , silly poop looking dinosaur toys green screened into the adventure where it could have just been held in front of the camera. Very much present day Mark Polonia but everyone seems to be having more fun and paces better than recent Marks outings so I was pleasantly surprised. 4 Creating Rem Lazar I could talk about this trippy confusing not religious kids film slash pilot forever and about Jack Mulcaheys singing forever but it's a known phenomenon now (if it's not for you go look it up) but I'm here to talk about A.I upscaling of weird video produced productions like this come out so uncanny Valley and for once it fit cause this just became so more surreal..like seriously is this real life? My fav of the four was Vampire Time Traveler…what the hell is wrong with me? Ok stay awesome love ya buh bye #comedy is hard but #bmovies 4 ever
