over the years, sally jackson had practically adopted all of the older kids at camp. whenever percy visited his mom, he would bring one of his cousins or annabeth or anyone he was hanging out with that day. at first, the demigods were hesitant to go with percy - scared that she wouldn't like them or that they would be intruding - but after the visited sally that first time and she showered them all with love and care, they were the ones asking percy when the next time they would go was. sometimes they even went on their own and hung out there for hours at a time. some demigods would even stop by in the middle of their quests just to check up on her and say hi. all of them loved her cooking and adored sally even more. since most of the demigod’s mortal parents weren't really involved in their lives sally was like a fresh breath of air. and they never wanted to breath out.

ever since their first quest, percy had been protective of annabeth. he knew, as soon as they decided to be friends, that he would die for this girl. he would do anything for her. even as that skinny, confused, 12 year old boy, long before he mastered his powers or became skilled with a sword. he knew. and that feeling only became stronger as they grew up and went on more quests together. When annabeth was kidnapped? you can bet percy didn't sleep a wink until they had any idea where she was. and you already know that feeling tripled when they kissed for the first time. and when they started dating??? u can bet that whoever crossed or hurt annabeth, demigod or monster, god or titan, they were doomed.

percy jackson had always only ever had eyes for annabeth. there was no doubt about it. he had always felt this deep affection for her but had never really understood what it was (cuz he's percy) so he had always just assumed that's how all friends felt about each other. all though… he definitely hadn't felt that way with grover. he had never really understood what his feelings were until annabeth kissed him (bless her). then all the pieces were put into place. although he had been crazy oblivious before, it was obvious now. but even before he realized it, annabeth had been the only girl he saw. he adored her smile and laugh. and loved that he was the one to make her smile and laugh like that. her princess curls drove him crazy in the best way possible and he was always enchanted by her eyes, their bold grey constantly on his mind. his feelings for her only tripled after they kissed. he realized that she was the one for him. deep down, he had always known it. and nobody could change that.

after the second titan war, percy thought about luke regularly. in the short time percy had gotten to know him before luke betrayed camp, he had considered him his closest friend second only to grover. he appreciated luke taking him under his wing and truly began to see him as the big brother he had always wanted. he considered luke his hero when he had helped percy learn some swordfighting tricks and gotten him familiar to camp. even more so when he stuck up for him against clarisse. percy was heartbroken when luke poisoned him. and even more heartbroken that he would have to fight luke repeatedly over the course of his childhood. percy had never told anyone this, but over the years he truly began to understand why luke did what he did. even though his execution was wrong, percy understood why luke wanted justice for the demigods. why he wanted to overrule the gods. besides some, the gods truly didn't give a flying crap about their kids. and it showed. luke was done being their pawn, but unlike others, he decided to do something about it. percy only wished things could have been different.

leo had always felt like an outcast. after his mother died, things had gotten ten times as difficult. friends at school shunned him, foster parents treated him horribly, and the guilt he felt about his mother was slowly eating him alive. when he found piper, he finally felt seen. but then piper and jason somehow got together and suddenly he was third wheeling. finding camp was nothing short of a blessing for him. there were people there that actually saw him. saw his talent for building things, saw him not as a burden or an annoyance, but as a friend, a brother, someone they could lean on and talk to and laugh with. camp slowly became his safe haven, he felt like he found his family and the kids in the hephaestus cabin had become nothing short of siblings to him. he had also formed a very special bond with percy. he found his relaxed demeanor to compliment his quite well. they made jokes, poked fun, and laughed together for ages. percy had slowly become one of leo's closest and most trusted friends. and he wouldn't have it any other way.

percy and annabeth always became a little scarier during times of war. all of the other campers could agree. they were always on edge, ready to attack whoever stood in their way. their eyes were a little darker with storms appearing to be swirling inside them. they were stiffer, a little less lighthearted and looking like they aged years into the future. percy told less jokes and annabeth smiled a little less. they also almost never separated from each other. sure they were usually like that, but even more so now, as if they were afraid that if they separated, there was a risk they might never see each other again. but those weren't the things that scared the campers the most. those things were barely noticeable unless you knew them very well. what scared the campers the most was that percy and annabeth were almost always completely calm. they appeared stress free. confident if you will. like they weren't even worried about this war. because they knew they could win. it was as if they were so used to war that it barely even affected them. sure if you looked closely you could see the little cracks in their armor, a sliver of worry would show up on their faces, or you could see a glimmer of doubt in their eyes. but other than that, they appeared completely chill. and that's what terrified the campers.

when percy had been new at camp he had been terrified to say the least. he was worried that things were going to be just as bad as they were at school, or that people were going to find out how much of a freak he really was. that he saw things no one else saw, heard things, felt things. it wasn't until he realized that there were others like him at camp did he really feel comfortable enough to not skip a meal just because he didn't want anyone to see him. he began feeling more and more comfort and bravery at camp. and a feeling of belonging washed over him regularly. he had finally found his home. with people like him. people that loved him and appreciated him and didn't think him weird for seeing things or for the way he acted but instead encouraged and supported him. he knew that he could rely on them to always have his back. and he wouldn't have it any other way.

after defeating gaea the seven had gone and stayed together at camp half blood. they had gotten so used to each others company that they couldn't even imagine separating and going back to their duties at separate camps. their journey had brought them closer together more than any of them had ever anticipated and they were all more protective of each other than anyone could believe. they had each other's backs and would always be there to comfort each other when one would have a nightmare or go through a panic attack or episode. their journey on the argo II definitely hadn't been easy and they all refused to talk to anyone about it except each other. they had created a little family in their small group and none of them would change that for the world.

whenever nico was tired with the world he went to his father. contrary to popular belief, hades wasn't actually as bad as people thought he was. he was gentle and kind to his outcasted child - knowing how it felt to be an outcast himself - and was always there for him when needed. he listened to nico's prayers and always tried to give him what he asked for. he even had a room ready for nico whenever he showed up in the underworld and was so incredibly happy for his son when he found will solace. over the years their relationship became stronger and stronger and he saw his child go from a depressed little boy who was angry at the world and everyone in it to a strong powerful young man, confident and hopeful. he watched his son grow and was filled to the brim with pride on all his accomplishments

poseidon had always cared for percy. from the moment he was born poseidon had watched over his son, protecting him from harm until it was time for him to find out the truth about his heritage. he was proud of percy and everything he accomplished but he also wept and mourned for his son because of everything he had gone through. he knew that being a demigod was a struggle and all he wished to do was be able to talk to his son freely without any ancient laws chaining him down. the little moments of conversation they shared together over the years had been some of poseidon’s most sacred memories and ones that he would cherish for eons to come.

monsters expected very very little of percy jackson. they thought he was another stupid kid that they would be able to sneak up on and defeat with the swipe of a claw. but each passing day proved them wrong. each year he got older and older and survived with scars as proof that monsters hadn't gotten to him yet. monsters weren't able to reach him in the way they thought they could. each year he got stronger and more ruthless. each year he got a little more sarcastic, conversing with the monsters and annoying them before killing them. each year his kill count got higher and higher. each year, less and less monsters came after him. knowing that they wouldn't be even nearly strong enough to kill him. each year more and more people had his back. not that he needed their help. each year his connection to his powers because stronger, more impressive. each year he got a little riskier, cared a little less about the affects the things he did could have on him. each year his scars became more and more, until there was almost no skin that remained untouched. each year his eyes became darker, more sad, as if he'd given up all hope for peace. each year the weight on his shoulders became heavier. each year he got a little scarier, a little quieter, a little less like himself and a little more like the monsters.

now the demigods were a different story. they were proud to have percy as their leader. his success was their success and his pain was their pain. they always had his back and were happy for him when good things happened because they all knew he deserved the world. when new campers had heard of him they didn't know what to think. they thought he would act like a mean popular kid you would meet at school or would treat them like they were lesser than him simply because they were new or younger, but instead he treated them like siblings, family. he welcomed them into camp, checked up on them regularly, made sure they settled in and made friends, he was like the big brother they all needed. and everyone grew to love him even more than before. they also knew they could count on him to protect them. sure he was a big softy, but when it came to protecting his family, he never failed. and they all knew it. his unwavering loyalty also made them all look up to him. they knew that percy would be there for them whenever they needed him without hesitation. and they all swore to have his back whenever it was time for him to need them. because of his tenderness, he had gained himself people that would die for him without a second thought.

seeing their friends in that state had recked the other seven. they had no idea what to do, how they should act. they were walking on glass around them. anything they said could trigger them. occasionally they would bring up a specific monster or situation and percy and annabeth would grow pale or say they needed a moment alone and disappear for a couple hours. other times they would start hyperventilating and have these horrifying, traumatizing, panic attacks. some were so bad that old wounds that were on the verge of healing would reopen again and they had to be taken back to the med wing for days at a time. they would also barely eat, or if they did eat they would barf it all back out in the next couple hours. their bodies had grown accustomed to the harsh conditions of tartarus that they could barely handle a couple spoonfuls of food at a time. they weren't gaining back any of the weight that had lost during their time alone in hell and it was obvious. ambrosia and nectar also weren't helping in any way. when they had first gotten back, taking some of both had helped bring them away from the brink of death but for whatever reason, it wasn't healing any of the harm done to them while they were down there…

gods demigods and monsters alike were all amazed when they met percy jackson. he definitely… wasn't what they were expecting. athena, artemis, and hera were expecting a stuck up demigod who thought he was better, stronger than anyone else like hercules. they were expecting him to be arrogant and snotty, conceited and egotistical. but he was unlike anything they predicted he would be, he gave respect to those who deserved it olympian or not, sure he was rude to zeus or ares but let's be honest, those idiots deserve it. he smiled and made jokes, he was humble, blushing when they mentioned anything he accomplished, even though they knew exactly what he was capable of, they wouldn't have been able to tell if they hadn't known beforehand. he wasn't prideful like some past heroes (iykyk), instead he kept deflecting any of the compliments he was receiving and mentioning another teammate or fellow demigod, “nono it was all annabeth” “we couldn't have defeated the monsters we did without clarisse” and other things like that. he was a gentleman if nothing else

headcannon #8 pt 1 (?)
when percy and annabeth got back from tartarsauce their nightmares were horrific. they'd wake up in the middle of the night screaming and sobbing and scratching at themselves. they couldn't look at themselves in the mirror anymore, horrified by what they saw. their cheeks were hollow, dark circles under their eyes, they were noticeably thinner, and the scars, oh gods the scars. they were everywhere. wounds. everywhere. percy's upper arm had been wrapped for nearly 3 weeks now and annabeth’s thigh hadn't been getting any better. and those weren't the only injuries. they could barely walk anywhere without limping and wincing. it was safe to say that they barely spent a minute without each other. they needed each other, they supported each other, and their protectiveness of each other had only increased.
