I believe when you leave a person, you’re not really leaving just the person. You’re leaving all the memories, the good and bad times you had. You sit in your room, the pillow they used to rest their head on, smells like them. You walk around the street, you see your favourite cafe you used to go to with them. You put on a shirt, you still remember how they used to love that shirt. You listen to a song, that song still reminds you of them. You think why can’t I get this person out of my head? It’s because they were apart of you. They took a piece of you. You go in the shower you put the water burning hot. You’re crying, not because the water is burning you, because it’s burning every god damn fringerprint they left on your body. You’ve lost every piece of them you thought you’d never lose. And this is what you are left with, burnt skin, red eyes from over crying and a lack of positivity of continuing a happy life. You walk across the road, you don’t check both sides anymore because you couldn’t care if you were alive or dead. You forget to feed yourself because you’ve lost your appetite. You start smoking, your lungs will fill up with smoke instead of all of the things they said when they would never leave you. You see leaving a person is easy, the hard part is forgetting the footprints where they used to stand.
