Blood, sweat, and tears have gone into this girl and we haven't even started routine ground work.
She came to me underweight, loaded with worms, and anemic. She is still on a deworming regimen, she injured her knee three weeks into having her and will most likely have a knobby knee the rest of her life. I could get it drained but then that leaves her open to infection. It currently doesn't limit her and she is not lame.
I'd like to see her fill out a little more but she has made great progress in 8 weeks.

Patience has never been my strong suit.
But I can't snap my fingers and make her gain 100 lbs overnight or rush anything that I had originally planned to work on as soon as she was brought home. She needs time to get to the best she can be and I have to step back and let that happen.

We started work today with some desensitizing to the training tools I have. She's eager to please but isn't sure what is being asked for at first. Once she gets it down a few times she starts to overthink so I go back to something she had down 100%.
I have to get used to the feel of some of the tools as well.
Short 45 min sessions for now.
We make sure we leave everything on a high note.

The weather hasn't been cooperating much so haven't had a chance to even start with light ground work. Did some flexing tonight and she's great on one side, stiff as a board on the other.
I spent all this time worrying over names and ultimately decided on Mocha.
Echo was a close 2nd, and everyone said it was like she was an echo of my previous horse, which was a neat prospect but she deserves to have her own identity. I can't focus on her if I'm always comparing her to him.
I want her to fill out a little more, get to know me better and hopefully we can become a great team.
I love my Mocha Latte.

I am really struggling with names.
I want something with a historic feel to it. I am originally from Colorado so I'm trying to think of places/trees/wildlife that have a western feel to it.
She's very mellow on the ground but really wants to go once you're in the saddle.
I'm currently at a loss.
