The impact of the industrial revolution 4.0 on education?
Before discussing this material, first know what is the industrial revolution 4.0 and its examples?
The industrial revolution 4.0 is an era of disruption, which is an era where the way of working moves or changes from a conventional way of working to a modern one, with a digital approach that has an impact on economic, political, cultural, and educational life. So whoever is not friendly and is against technology will be crushed by the times, which means that the industrial revolution will change life in any way, so that every country must be ready to face and implement this industrial revolution system, for example if a country is not ready to face this. And implementing it, the country will lag far behind other countries and its education will also have a worse impact.
We can see examples of industry 4.0 in Indonesia in the food and beverage, automotive, electronics, and chemical industries. One example is for business sellers to promote the products they offer through digital platforms.
A student has an important role in developing a nation or country in the world of education, because competition is not only from within the country or neighboring countries but has covered the entire world of education.
Here are some ways for students or students to participate in the world of education in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0
• develop critical thinking and not be affected by negative influences. This means that with the amount of information that can be obtained, students must be able to see which information can be trusted and which is not and do not immediately believe in any information that is not necessarily true.
• students must be able to use technology as well as possible and even participate in technology development. We can not only use and be passive users but also be able to develop technology and understand how the system of technology itself is.
• youth, especially students, have to start thinking globally by preserving local wisdom. Therefore, students can develop and introduce local culture through technology.
Therefore, students have a major contribution to improving the quality of the nation’s education, namely through:
1. Development of self-potential as awareness of the basic nature of education.
2. Control government policies on determining the direction and characteristics of the nation’s education.
3. Strive to always meet the need for improvement of a national education system in Indonesia.
For this reason, students must provide concrete steps to realize every idea and aspiration, so that every plan is not just a plan that doesn’t work but at least becomes a stepping stone to start something better. In the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, it is very important for the role of universities to equip their students with various soft skills that can develop potential as well as creativity and innovation. So that later when they graduate, these students can compete and open new jobs and have soft skills. There are several soft skills that are very important to be honed and possessed by students in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, namely: ability in foreign languages, ability to solve problems, public speaking, the ability to communicate, the ability to think critically, and leadership. Therefore, support from various parties such as the government and universities is needed so that they can produce millennial students as creative and innovative Human Resources who are able to compete and create new jobs in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0.

Era 4.0 Higher Education in the Covid-19 Pandemic (Sociological Reflection)
Higher education in the 4.0 era surfaced until the end of 2019 as if it had been swallowed up by Covid-19. This reality encourages to review the situation of Higher Education 4.0 in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on the sociological reflective analysis, it can be concluded that; First; Higher education in the 4.0 era is the idea of transforming the higher education system towards digitalization through resistematization of an academic curriculum that is compatible with industrial employment which encourages the design of policies for the development of scientific disciplines and study programs towards the University of Indonesia, which can offer distance learning online learning models with the support of qualified lecturer resources. professional, responsive and capable of conducting research breakthroughs. And, secondly; The Covid-19 pandemic has become an important correction that shows the main weakness of the big idea of the campus digitalization system or University of Indonesia and the distance learning online learning system because the Indonesian telecommunications network system facilities are not evenly distributed. Nevertheless, there are positive dynamics during the pandemic, namely the creation of virtual academic spaces for lecturers and students through webinars on a limited scale and an increase in passive digital literacy in areas with adequate network access.
