"We'll fix it in post" is a phrase from the film industry, but it is inherently funnier when it's spoken by a writer because--tragic--you are also the post-production team.

[ID: three digital sketches side by side, with dark red bars framing them at the top and bottom. from left to right, the sketches show: a woman with curly hair in an updo looking to the left, wearing a tiara; a man with looser curly hair, freckles, and a high collar looking to the right; a person with similarly curly hair looking down at a flower, while flowers also grow out of their hair. end ID]

I probably put way too much thought into it but I do enjoy making a more in depth story rather than winging it. I like to actually think about the worldbuilding, make sure things actually connect and make sense. I am a big history nerd and I feel like it's the closest I can get to writing my own history.

TAG GAME / heads up, seven up.
thank you @isherwoodj for the tag!

“Come on,” [Mayumi] said, moving once more. “He’s gone a bit overboard.”
He frowned. “What do you mean?”
Stepping into what Henry would call Theo’s study, he quickly found out. Stacks on stacks of papers created towers on his desk and the printer that sat on top of its own little table in the corner of the room was continuing to print off more. Theo sat at the desk, hunched over with round framed glasses perched atop his nose and were in the process of slowly falling down. His hair was unruly, curls hanging down wild and untamed, the complete opposite from how they were the night before.
With a pen tucked behind his ear, highlighter cap wedged between his teeth as he highlighted whatever information that he deemed important enough to keep track of. And as he was doing so, a fluffy black cat sat next to him, head moving with every stroke of the highlighter.
The sight made Henry wonder if this was a common occurrence.
“I see what you mean,” Henry commented.

i don’t wanna start handing out writing advice like im an authority on the subject bc im definitely not, buuuut
as a reader/writer, ive noticed there’s a whole lot of difference between a plot twist that makes you think “i didn’t see that coming” and a plot twist that makes you sit bolt upright in bed and scream at the top of your lungs “OH FUCK I SHOULDVE SEEN THAT COMING”
not to say the second one is better but. the second one is better

Do you think hauntings can go both ways. Like, if a ghost is a dead person who can't move on, what is an alive person who can't let go of someone dead? Grief as a form of haunting. Dragging the memory of a corpse with you because it's all that's left of them. Seeing them out of the corner of your eye sometimes. You know. It pairs nicely with obsession of revenge

bite the bard; draw the words toiling deep inside
Welcome to my humble abode, my twisted mind, my cluttered desk space. I am Alex (21+, She/Her, Vampire Enthusiast), a designer by day, designer by night, jester 24/7. Sometimes, if inclined, I will draw for fun. I write to appease the characters that haunt my mind. INSTAGRAM \ MAIN \ GOODREADS \ NANO \ DISCORD UPON REQUEST
HOBBIES
Outside of design, my passions lie in history, both that of the art and linear kind, and literature. And, despite my rather pretentious online presence, I am incredibly fond of live music and a lot more extroverted than you might estimate. I mostly listen to alternative rock, but I like anything LOUD! Feel free to flock over and chit-chat about anything — please note that this is a side blog. I follow from @swordvampire.
WRITING
Within my writing, I specifically dabble within the fantasy and science-fiction genre, but my taste has been skewing a bit more historical lately. My current NANOWRIMO project is Bay Area Gothic, an adult urban fantasy set in San Jose, California, about a night shift nurse and her mysterious neighbor trying to find the key to unraveling a mystery that haunts them both. My other project is a Romanian-inspired historical fantasy about a lackluster thief falling headfirst into a fate she had been running from for over a decade. Currently working on outlining that one proper, but expect mages with flair, swords, and a whole lot of bad decisions made.

i personally have an internal monologue, and while i can "see" words/images in my head, my default thoughts are all audio...it sounds like i'm saying them out loud in my head (i have to consciously try to "see" things i'm thinking about)

Turn the "Magic is outlawed" trope on its head. Weapons are outlawed. The only people legally capable of enacting violence are wizards trained in state-controlled academies.
People who acquire magic through other means or manage to become deadly fighters without the need for weapons are put into a very interesting position where they are a threat to the state's total control without technically breaking the law
