Members can access services provided by designated service providers (DSPs), including specialist visits, hospitalisation, and radiology and pathology. However, they can only use these services after a referral from a general practitioner and with authorisation from case management.

PlatComprehensive, the premium option of Platinum Health, provides extensive healthcare cover to meet demanding needs. It includes unlimited hospitalisation at DSP hospitals at 100% of the Scheme’s Tariff and PMB cover for both acute and chronic medications subject to the scheme’s formulary.

To become a member of Platinum Health, you must notify your current medical aid provider and give them the required notice period. You must also provide proof of termination. Two centuries of farming and then urban development have greatly changed Moreland’s natural landscape. Stands of highly significant original (remnant) vegetation are scattered and fragmented; traditional land management practices have ceased and exotic weeds have emerged; native fauna has been dislocated and is often now only found in captivity; and creek corridors have had their habitats modified.

Wetlands are important for biodiversity and community health and well-being. The City has many wetlands including the ephemeral floodplain at Coburg Lake, the Merri-Edgars Creek confluence, Jones Park and Hosken Reserve as well as the Herbert Street Living Stream in Oak Park.

The protection of large trees is essential for their habitat value and for a number of wildlife species, particularly birds and mammals. These animals require hollows for nesting and shelter. The City is establishing a register of the most significant trees within Moreland’s planning scheme on public and private property to facilitate their protection.

Hume

Hume residents with disabilities can access a variety of local services and supports from our community-based organisations. These include speech pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, positive behaviour support and habit coaching. These practitioners work as part of your team to ensure a holistic approach to achieving the outcomes that matter most to you.

The Northern Learning Hub is an exciting new place for adults with disability to learn and grow, delivering a weekly program that includes two days based at Yooralla’s Broadmeadows Community Hub digital learning space and one day of community access across the Hume region.

The Northern Learning Hub is supported by Hume City Council’s commitment to ensuring that all residents are given every opportunity to participate and have their voices heard. This is evident in the inclusion of a Disability Action Plan into Council Plan, which will highlight priority areas for practical implementation, with progress and achievements recorded through annual reports and Council Plan Quarterly Reporting.

Coburg

Various community services are also available at the City of Moreland Fawkner Customer Service Centre on Station Street.

West Footscray

We've heard from you that the NDIS is not providing enough support to protect you and your rights. We’ve also heard that your housing and living supports aren’t being planned, funded or governed as a connected ecosystem and that you can't exercise choice and control over your living arrangements. Too much time is being spent on fighting over who should pay for what, and not enough on making the whole ecosystem work.
