Don't Miss One Motorcycle Show all weekend • Sandbox Studio starting tonight from 5 p.m. to midnight, with motorcycles, bands, merchandise, food, drink, and motorcycle art, 420 N.E. 9th Ave.
Along with other amazing motorcycle art, Ray Gordon's images will be hanging at the show. And yep, that's Thor Drake from See See Motorcycles jumping that car. Of course, he'll be there too.
Guest Feature: Thor Drake
Thor interviewed Ray in Revel in Portland which you can find for FREE at the One Moto  Show this weekend. He is owner of See See Motorcycles, which sells motorcycle stuff and great coffee. He's fearless when it comes to crazy mini-bike and moto-bike stunts. He's pretty cool.
Ray's Portland picks include See See Motorcycles, Club 21 and Sizzle Pie- all three of which Thor Drake chose when we asked him to pick spots for our guest feature. You need to check out the book for Ray's hilarious comments on his top 8 Portland Picks. Here are Thor's:
SIZZLE PIE 624 E Burnside St
If they made pizza IV, that would save me some time.
White Owl Social Club 1305 SE 8th Ave
Everything good is over here this side of town. (Revel begs to differ).
SEE SEE MOTORCYCLES 1642 NE Sandy
No shit
CLUB 21 2035 NE Glisan
Half way from home to work and vice versa

Guest Feature: Heather Larimer
All around kick-ass gal, writer, Revel In contributor (she interviews our cover feature, Lance Bangs) and singer-songwriter for the amazing pop band, EUX AUTRES.
We thought it'd be fun to catch up with some friends and get some more opinions of Portland- what to do + see, where to visit, shop and eat- stuff like that. Heather is our first.
Revel In Portland:  Thanks for doing this! What have you been up to lately?
Heather: I'm currently working on new songs for an as-yet-undefined musical project. I haven't written many songs without my brother/bandmate Nick, so it's like learning to walk all over again. That, and I'm working on a super secret personal writing project,
RP: Sounds fun. ok-shhh. So- how did you end up in Portland?
HL: I started coming to Portland regularly in 1996 to visit my best friend.  It still had an underground kind of seedy vibe and the scene felt raw and playful, like everyone was making it up as they went along. I finally moved here in 1999 for a boy who I’d seduced in his grandma’s car on the Park Blocks while the Smashing Pumpkins’ 1979 played on the “alternative” radio station he was embarrassed to be caught listening to. The boy didn’t last, but my best friend and I are still very much in love.
A few of Heather's personal favorite Portland spots:
UNA  922 SE Ankey
In so many ways, Giovanna Parolari is the heart of this town. Her boutique is full of beautiful, slightly eccentric things, and I always leave with either a great new piece or a warm heart just from chatting with her. It’s mostly a clothing store, but I usually end up getting something like a ceramic bell or a perfume meant to smell like semen. And when Giovanna’s not curating Una, she’s running two of the best restaurants in town, Luce and Navarre. She’s pretty much stultifyingly boring.
Portland Outdoor Store 304 SW 3rd
I love western wear stores, and this one is everything I could hope for. Tons of boots, super knowledgable staff, lots of tack and then random items like horse-themed alarm clocks. It’s in a desolate part of downtown but has an incredible neon sign with a bucking bronco, beckoning you inside.
Little T American Baker 2600 SE Division
Little T really epitomizes what’s great about Portland. They’re making all of these awesome French style pastries and yet they’re totally nailing hippie-style spelt bread, too.  And their lemon curd drop biscuit makes me so glad that gluten is a staple of my diet.
Click on the image to hear Heather's band and add some great music to your day!

Chef John Gorham, Interviewed by Marco Kaye
When it comes to ingredients, chef John Gorham demands the same quality that most people reserve for their closest personal relationships:honesty. It's  the secret sauce in the dishes prepared at Portland's Toro Bravo, Tasty n Sons and soon to be Tasty n Alder.
One of John's top Portland picks is Lovely 50/50 on Mississippi Ave. "You can taste the love in everything they make. This is the pizza place that should have a two hour wait every night. And the salads are the best in the city."
Read more about John, his tattoos, his upcoming cookbook published by McSweeney's, how he got to be a chef, and more of his favorite Portland haunts- all in Revel In Portland vol. 1

Long-time Wieden + Kennedy producer and friend, Jeff Selis, interviews Nike's VP of innovation and designer/architect, Tinker Hatfield. Tinker is one of the most amazing and influential shoe designers of our time. For Revel In, he chooses Portland's Naked Bike Ride as one of his "Portland picks". Makes sense. We can totally imagine thousands of folks riding across the Burnside bridge in nothing but a pair of Nikes.  Suggestion- Tinker should design a shoe for the Naked Bike ride this year and have Nike donate the proceeds to youth in sports.

Revel's new shop site launches today with advance printed copies of the book for sale-- makes for a really cool stocking stuffer gift. Interviews, pictorials and personal picks from some of Portland's most interesting and multi-facted talent.
Portlandia's 'Winter in Portland' airs tonight. Coincidence? Maybe. We do love the attention Carrie and Fred have brought to our city, and yeah, Portlandia also recently published their own Portland(ia) guidebook for visitors-- but Revel in Portland is an arts and culture guide about the city and its people--not the show. Personal interviews, pictorials, 72 recommendations on where to eat, drink, explore, and shop around town.
It was tough choosing only ten featured subjects for Volume1, but we hope you'll like our selections. Keep checking back for added content, features and more personal picks from other interesting Portland characters. We'll frequently be adding something new up here for locals and travelers alike.
Let's start off by introducing you to filmmaker, Lance Bangs- also our cover subject. Heather Larimer interviews Lance. He credits Michael Stipe/REM with giving his career a kick start as a filmmaker. His incredibly diverse body of work includes music videos for indie rock luminaries such as Sonic Youth, Sleater-Kinney, Pavement, and The White Stripes. His documentarian work includes a Maurice Sendak film "Tell Them Anything You Want" (with Spike Jonze) and HBO's "The Lazarus Effect", about the radical health improvements brought to AIDS patients in sub-Saharan Africa.
He also launched a cultural phenomenon by capturing the crazy stunts of "Jackass", and continues to explore work in comedy.  Lance is super intelligent with a great sense of humor-he  didn't flinch when asked to where a gilly suit and walk around the supermarket.
One of our favorite Portland picks by Lance: Ground Kontrol Classic Arcade. "Art Santana's managerial style keeps the games glowing and thumbs blistering."
