“Compost Crusader LLC was created in April 2014 to service the needs of businesses that wanted to divert their organic material from the landfill. After years of grassroots composting efforts, I came to a crossroads. I could either wait for the larger haulers to create an organics diversion infrastructure or I could try to. With the help of my truck driving boyfriend, Matthew Scannella, who has a metal fabrication company and is a master diesel mechanic, I used money that I had been saving for a new kitchen and bought a dump truck.At the end of 2014, we had 13 customers that were diverting over 24 tons per month from the landfill. With 100% customer retention, we now have 32 customers and are diverting over 35 tons each month from the landfill. We are rapidly growing and anticipate another 10 customers coming aboard Oct. 2015 putting us closer to our 2015 goal of 100 customers. Three of those new customers in October will be schools.”
