to actually try to talk about that person's post in somewhat good faith (which is a little hard for me to do to be honest), yes kozue kissing anthy in the car that episode was maybe not great to do. anthy does not look thrilled about it. calling it rape and comparing it to akio's abuse is of course ridiculous, but i do see the point, somewhat. except.... no i don't? to me it's pretty obvious that anthy is in on it? right? she's not surprised. she got in the car that duel, which she doesn't ever do in any of the other ones. this is part of manipulating miki. this is similar to anthy cheering for utena in miki's first duel, or to kozue making out with touga in the music room beforehand. of course you can and should question these choices and what led them to make them and how everything within this system is built on coercion etc etc. none of this is ever truly consensual. but again, that always comes back to akio, and comparing any of these kids to him and implying they're on the same level is. absurd.

"erm actually this teenager is just as bad as the adult who is grooming them because they sometimes act according to the horrible things they've been taught and have been offered no alternate perspective on" <- how some of you sound when talking about rgu

When Touga is finally released from adult small talk, he finds Nanami and Anthy at the base of a tree, watching a single-file procession of ants. They’re both following the ants with their eyes, not saying a word. Touga’s not sure what to make of it, but Nanami jumps up to hug him as always, so he figures he shouldn’t worry about it. - In another world, Anthy, Touga and Nanami get along a little better as children than as teenagers.

nanami wants to protect touga from girls who only want him for status and attention, but that protective streak combined with her naïvety about his actual trauma and situation with their father and akio leads him to resent her for even trying. likewise, touga wants to protect nanami from the abuse and trauma he suffered, but his protective streak combined with his warped perspective of how things should be leads her to be suffocated and hurt by how he controls and manipulates her. they both love and hurt each other so, so much, and its easy to see how a relationship like theirs could become warped and damaged enough that only the hurt and the memory of love remains, becoming a relationship like anthy and akio, who no longer truly love each other but are trapped in the habit of protecting one another, even though that protection itself is what is slowly killing their relationship. the key to escaping this cycle for the kiryuus is communication and clarity; they are still at a point where they deeply love each other despite the tension, and if they understood one another better they would have a chance at fixing their relationship. for anthy and akio, the actual love is long gone; separation is the only remaining option for either of them to heal

I’ve been watching revolutionary girl Utena lately.
These two are married.
(Update: A  kind anon corrected the wrapping of Utena’s kimono. I had it wrapped as if she was not alive! Since she is meant to be alive in this image, thanks anon!)

akio knowing jack shit about astronomy but pretending to because it suggests a knowledge of the outside world, what lies beyond not just the gates of their school but the borders of their world, their planet. his cosmology is not one of curiosity; it is constructed, fabricated, and imposed. he controls the tools through which his students are allowed to imagine a possible future, a possible world beyond ohtori’s walls. he limits their flow of information, feeds them false information. he doesn’t care about the stars, he only cares about the illusion of stars, projecting them within the frame, teaching them to fear the real ones. just as he fears the real stars, of a thing that exists beyond his control, of ever leaving his cozy coffin, he imposes that worldview and that fear onto everyone else, because the less they know, the more afraid they are, the more he can impress them with his false knowledge, groom them with his conditional power, control them through his projected illusions.
he’s pretending to be an expert in a subject he clearly knows nothing about (like, you don’t need an astro degree to know that most of what he says is patently false) to impress a bunch of children. he is an adult who is still trapped in his illusion of an idealized childhood and would do anything to reclaim it including (but not limited to) torturing his sister who loved him. he wants the approval of children and to control children because he possesses all the maturity of one, riding endlessly on his carousel, trapped in the revolution of stasis rather than the revolution of change, of potential, to imagine a possible future, to imagine a possible world, to imagine a limitless universe. his soul has been calcified, his statue permanently figured in a pose of despair. because wouldn’t you despair if this was your sad, pathetic life? wouldn’t you be too embarassed to simply start over, to leave your coffin and accept a reality that does not center you and accommodate your every petty and cruel whim? the central truth about akio lies in the fact that he doesn’t actually care about the stars, and what that truly means: he’s pathetic, and he’s scared.
