Chapter 2 coming!
The exploratory expeditions into the Blackstart Nexus are finished. The ancient machinery is back online, the teleportation portals are now wide open and the Conglomerate has won the first chapter.
Even if the Concordance quickly secured territories on the nexus thanks to their great numbers and military discipline, they remain unaware of their enemies positions and have little knowledge of the terrain.
The Conglomerate’s seekers remained undetected and have gathered critical intelligence on the concordance’s movements, and knowledge is power. Now they are almost ready to attack the seemingly primitive civilization.
In the second chapter, the Technomancers of the black armies bring new bioengineered creatures and viruses into the nexus while the Archeotechnologist seek new relics to enhance their infantry against future threats.
The exploration is over and now the armies are getting ready for war. Who will be the victor in this new phase of the conflict? Only time will tell.

A comparison!
So here are three good points in the art process, the first sketch, the base pixels and layers, and the final piece.
All this process usually takes several days between testing many versions and making changes and adjustments, and that's not counting all the story and narrative details that serve as basis for the designs.

A whole lot of layers
In the final version, the “impossible geometry” effect done inside Unity hides all the parts of the drawing outside the card border, but before the implementation is done, and the nice shadows and effects are complete, this is how ALL the layers look together... it is not pretty:

The first pixels
As with any other creative process, the first stages usually look rather sad. On this stage, the main ideas y just to add the most basic colors and shapes so the parallax and 3D effects can be tested.

Many layers
Since all cards will eventually be 3D and have movement, the drawings have to be thought not as a single drawing but as a group of layer.
So after the main design is more or less final, it has to be split in its different layers.

The beginnings of a 3D pixelart card
Even if the final style is a very small resolution and pixel art, the initial design is done as any other piece of art.
The first versions are done with pencil and paper just to get the most basic idea.
Later the designs are re-drawn digitally. Its still a sketch but it has more details and it can be used to start putting in the pixels.
