✨ I am the reason I am happy. ✨ Once upon a time I used to think my happiness was tied to my body weight and size. I didn’t pursue opportunities and pushed them away because I thought my body made me unworthy. I don’t know when but eventually I realized that this notion, that to be happy I had to look a certain way, was so wrong for me. ✨ You know those sayings? ~Happiness comes from within. ~You create your own happiness. Ya those sayings, well despite having heard them for like forever I finally understood what it meant for me. ✨ Creating my own happiness means so much more than just self-love and body confidence. It was realizing that I exist within an industry that is structured to body shame and to profit off of it. It was realizing that society’s ideals of beauty are narrow, non-inclusive, and damaging. It was realizing that all of those influenced my perspectives of my self-worth. ✨ Creating my own happiness means taking back and being in control of the way I think and feel, and it means doing my part to create/support spaces where all bodies are good bodies. 💙 (at Phoenix, Arizona)
