Gods of Hour of Devastation in D&D: The Scarab God
Tumblr media
A Stolen God. When Nicol Bolas first arrived on Amonkhet, his victory over the gods was swift and brutal. With Amonkhet claimed as his own, Bolas re-purposed the gods to do his bidding. While he kept 5 in Naktamun to run the society he had rebuilt, the other three were kept out of the city in preparation for his return. The Scarab God was one of these three stolen gods, which Nicol Bolas corrupted and reshaped into the builder of his army.
Eternal Arbiter. The Scarab God is the master of the Eternals. When a dead victor of the trials passes through the Gate to the Afterlife, their body ends its journey at the necropolis. It is here that the Scarab God embalms the bodies of the worthy dead with lazotep. Warriors without equal, these lazotep Eternals return from the dead with all the skills they used to earn their victory in the trials, but with a body far more powerful than the one they died with.
The Final Hours. “When all doubts have melted away, the worthy will meet the Hour of Eternity and earn a place at the God-Pharaoh’s side.” As the protection of Naktamun fell, gods were slain, and the deserts rushed into the city, the Hour of Eternity began. The Scarab God, last to emerge, led the Eternals towards Naktamun. The undead legion entered the crumbling city, and the slaughter began.
Tumblr media
My main focus for statting-up the Scarab god was to give it an ability to produce the Eternals that it commands. The Eternalize action took base structure from spells like Animate Dead and Create Undead, with the core exception that the creature needed to retain its abilities it had in life, in the same manner that the Eternals keep the abilities that earned them their worthy deaths in the trials. To do so, I used the Wight stats as a template, the process of creating an eternal irons out weakness by raising ability scores,

And thus end the prophesied hours and the return of the stolen gods. You can find rules for The Scorpion God here, and The Locust God here. I hope you enjoyed this weekend’s bonus post, and that you get a great use out of these creatures in your own games, be they set on Amonkhet or otherwise!

⚔️ 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗺! Silverwind, The Cleansing Breeze Weapon (longsword), artifact (requires attunement) ___
This mighty longsword once belonged to Syre, the fey lord of the now fallen Syre Wood. This ancient blade was used to lead the charge against a legion of invading fiends, and still holds a power over such creatures. You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon, which has the finesse property. When you hit a fiend with an attack using this sword, that creature takes an extra 1d6 radiant damage.
𝙄𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝘼𝙩𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩. If you pull “Silverwind, the Cleansing Breeze” from the body of Malfuriel the Betrayer, you are immediately attuned to it. When this happens, you can choose to immediately end your attunement to one of your other magical items, even if it’s cursed (as if by the “remove curse" spell or similar magic). If you are already attuned to your maximum number of magic items, you must end your attunement to one of them in this way.
𝙑𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨. Some properties of this artifact are locked behind layers of dormant magic. As you grow stronger and reach certain milestones, these properties may become available to you. This weapon can have up to 3 of the following properties active at a time. When you attune to “Silverwind”, up to the first 3 properties available to you are activated. Whenever you finish a long rest, you can replace any of the activated properties with another one.
• While holding this sword, you can use an action to cast the “dancing lights”, “druidcraft”, or “minor illusion” spell (save DC 13) from the weapon. In addition, when you reach 5th level, you can use a bonus action to cast the “true strike" spell from it. • (Prerequisite: Fey Ancestry trait or the fey creature type.) You are immune to disease. • (Prerequisite: 8th level.) Your bonus to attack and damage rolls with this weapon becomes +2, and any fiend hit by it takes an extra 2d6 radiant damage, instead of 1d6. When you reach 14th level, the bonus increases to +3, and any fiend hit by it takes an extra 3d6 radiant damage instead.
… Continued in the comments! ___

Alright folks, I know i’ve been rather absent since the whole Tumblr Apocalypse thing, but here’s some Proof that I haven’t just been sitting on My Ass:
Announcing The Oracle!
A couple Months back, while I was working on the Mutophage, I had the idea stroke me of trying to play DND using a Deck of Tarot Cards in place of dice. Seemed like a silly idea, but as it happens sometimes, it stuck. I had seen a few classes out there that tried to make use of a deck of tarot cards in same way. but in most cases it was something along the lines of “I play this card to cast this spell” and felt more like a TGC than like reading tarot. I wanted to make something more integral. The Oracle is My take on support-centric class. By reading and manipulating fate, they are able to change the tide of battle, granting boons to their allies, and casting certain doom on their foes. This class is built from the ground up with the intent of feeling like an actual tarot reading when played. Having read tarot for almost 15 years, I worked to make sure that everything flows naturally in the same way as an actual reading, and in a way that won’t upset your deck. In fact, I designed the class to work as a great exercise in getting to know a new deck, or just learning the essentials tarot in the first place. If you love DND, and you enjoy Reading Tarot, you should definitely give it a read.
The Previews here are missing several pages of the greater arcana, for the full PDF check out the full class using this handy dropbox link. If you like what I do and want to support me, Check out my Patreon or Ko-Fi pages, or just come say hi on my Discord!

Revising an older insectoid race, the Makari, now known as the Lepikari (Mothfolk in common tongue). A race of beautiful, moth-like humanoids connected via an emotional hivemind, straight from the Broodmother’s Tome. I hope you like bugs.

I'm pleased to announce that Odyssey Anthology: In Callaphe's Wake is out NOW on the DMs Guild!!! This is the first of three volumes that adds a bunch of content to the Mythic Odysseys of Theros campaign setting released by Wizards of the Coast. This project was created by @kor-artificer and is a series of short adventures written by over 20 dungeon masters as well as bonus content by kor-artificer himself! I am so grateful to be a part of this project. All the writers are so creative, friendly, fun, and have become a wonderful little community.
I strongly recommend this book if you like tabletop rpgs and Greek Mythology. And stick around until volume three and you'll get to play an adventure written by me!

Holy shirt balls. I did it. I FINALLY DID IT. I made a homebrew class of my own. There are been plenty of variations of homebrew Witch classes, but I made my own. It unexpectedly became more Druid/Cleric like rather than Druid/Wizard like. This is apparently what it was meant to be.
I’m super proud of it. I may potentially make additional subclasses for this homebrew Witch class. Who knows.
If you enjoy my work and would like to gain instant access to exclusive homebrew content, you can get there here from My Patreon!
