In an attempt to make it fun and easy for admins and roleplayers to find diverse face claims to utilize in bio batches, on graphics, or most importantly - in action via their own characters, Iâve created a sideblog full of ethnically and physically diverse face claim resources intended to be used with Tumblrâs /random feature. There are no personal/fandom/âjunkâ posts on the blog, so every result will be a useful suggestion.
Put some serious consideration into utilizing the face claim.
Challenge yourself to limited (or zero) skips!
Cool.
The blog will be frequently updated to keep new results popping up. Feel free to follow or bookmark if you find it helpful!

Respecting Another Personâs Characterization
You know the trouble. You think your character is super cool and has all these tiny facets that you love including in their mannerism and words, and the actual meaning behind the words. And you love giving your fellow player insight into your character, especially when theyâre giving you so much insight into theirs. But then comes trouble. Your character has their poker face up, no where in their bio does it say they have a bad one and you wrote it as if they are perfectly poised, but inside theyâre freaking out. And yet the person youâre writing with just knows that their freaking out, even though they havenât been speaking for more than a few minutes and barely know each otherâs names. So whatâs the deal? It might be someone lazy and not reading your characterâs bio (guilty) or making their character seem amazing and awesome and perfect at the expense of your characterization (A Mary/Gary Sue).
But how do you avoid this? Because you know itâs disappointing when it happens to you, but then, if youâre like me, you worry you might do it yourself! And that would not be good.
(me when someone tries to ignore the bio of my character)
Normally, RPs are mostly concerned with people sticking to their own bios and not godmodding. Well, this issue falls in some area of gray between the two for me. Theyâre not controlling someone elseâs actions, but theyâre imposing some level of god-like control by implying that their character knows your characterâs motivations and itâs also not sticking to their bio or yours because in theirs it doesnât say that they are some all-knowing being and in yours it doesnât say they shout their motivations for their actions to strangers.
So if youâre thinking you might be doing this think about a conversation in real life:
How well do you (your character know the person)?
What did they say? (Whatâs in quotation marks)
What body language is present? (Are they shifting around? Smirking? Did their expression fall?)
These are things that you would know in a conversation, especially with someone you donât know, and thatâs pretty much it (assuming cultural norms and idioms are understood, which could be another layer depending on the characters). Sometimes itâs just a matter of understanding what is within quotation marks, and what isnât. Other times, seeing through a characterâs facade, understanding why a certain line of questions that would otherwise seem random are happening when you donât have a perceptive character, and things like that means you can be taking away essential parts of someone characterization.
For example, I have a character who is supposed to be a spy for her faction to get intel on other groups theyâre supposed to work with. Her bio says that she can put on the right face for whatever situation calls for it. She goes over to talk to a character she sees is in distress, faking concern. The other character could see her as a helping hand or she could lash out and be defensive, but they could not, at least immediately when she comes over, think âthis girl is out to get meâ (unless being paranoid is a part of their bio).Â
In summary: think about what is outwardly projected to your character, think about how perceptive your character is, and be aware of how obvious the character youâre interacting with is with their feelings.
I hope I articulated this the way I meant? Sorry for being gone so long! School got busy.

Okay, so, I just managed to figure out how to do a reply. Itâs not that different from what you would have to do in the last update that Tumblr did, but Iâll still include screenshots of how I managed to do it. Also to freakxnewxdance I hope you donât mind my using one of our threads to demonstrate this.
Alright, so here goes! What you want to do is pull up the reply the other person made and copy that personâs reply like so:
Then you paste your reply into the text box provided below. For the image, what you have to do is right-click on the image and select âcopy imageâ:
Paste the image into the reply and adjust position as needed according to where the icon was when your partner replied.
Then you go about replying as usual (since I already responded to this thread I just made a random thing tbfh). As a personal preference nowadays, I like separating my partnerâs reply from mine with one of those dividing lines on the Tumblr sidebar, like so:
And then go about formatting how you normally would and also delete the reblogs. If you want to add your partnerâs URL at the top feel free, though itâs rather tedious and would involve going into HTML to bring things back to normal, and for those who arenât experienced with html⌠itâll be tough. At this point I wouldnât worry about blockquoting because I have absolutely no idea how it would turn out if I did happen to blockquote, but until Tumblr either fixes this or X-kit finds a way to create an extension to have the option of going back to the old way, this is what I can provide to help you guys with.
Until notice from either side of the argument, I hope this helps, and happy RPing!

A Masterlist of Plus-Sized FCs
Obviously being plus-sized is in a bit of a spectrum, so I used a bit of a judgment call for my system for who made it on this list. If you feel anyone should be removed or added (or would simply like some more resources for some of these underused peeps or find links to more resources youâd like me to add to this list), please send us an ask. I included resources for all the FCs and some further resources you can look at for more FC ideas.

Admining your own roleplay can be amazing. Itâs fun and exciting and creative, and a wonderful way to make new friends and find other great writers. But not everyone who adores & applies for your rp will be a perfect fit, and youâll likely have to decline some applications.
This is tough, but donât fear !! Iâm here to help you out.

This is so great! Nothing quite bothers me like an RP not sending a rejection message after a lot of effort has been put into an app!

Below the cut are #304 textless, small/medium gifs of actor Ian Harding, who is best known for his role as Ezra Fitz on Pretty Little Liars. None of these gifs are mine, but I did resize and remove text from some of them for roleplaying purposes. If you see your gifs in this hunt and wish for me to take them down or credit you, please let me know. Also, Iâd appreciate it if you could like/reblog if you found this helpful or are an RP/RPH blog!

Full Review for:
boondocksrp
All reviews are my own thoughts and opinions, and just like I am entitled to mine, you are entitled to yours. Reviews are meant to be constructive to help you guys out in any way I can! (Also sorry for the delay!)
Theme: 8/10
Itâs actually really nice to see a theme that is so light. Iâm used to seeing themes that favor a lot of darker colors, but I think the lightness really helps to keep the sidebar from seeming cluttered, which can happen with these themes. My only issue is the header repeating itself. The header, if you can find a way, since itâs a series of pictures, to add a few more, and make sure it goes to the edges, rather than parts of the pictures being cut off on the ends.Â
URL: 7/10
It first makes me think of the Boondock Saints, honestly, however I understand where youâre coming from it being in the âboonies.â While I donât think itâs a seriously pressing issue, you should just be aware of it because people might come on to your page with completely different ideas based on the URL.
Description (in the about box): 9/10
While everyoneâs seen a town RP set in the south, this description is really well done, and just hearkens back to my own experiences with small town life (7/11s are really the places to be). Itâs an excellent snippet of writing, and though Iâm not sure if it will draw in everyone, people seeking a really solid sounding town RP will want to read more!
Full Plot: 6/10 (suicide mention tw)
I really find the use of the letter interesting. Itâs a really nice way to show not tell what happened to the down, what itâs facing right now. It can really draw people in since itâs addressing the reader. But while there are merits to simplicity, but it feels like itâs somehow missing the simple elegance from your smaller description. Additionally, while the letter does provide some context, I would have liked a little more in the plot summary. Maybe a little bit of insight on how the town took her suicide in general (thus maybe giving some clues as to how playersâ characters should react/feel about the suicide--do they agree with a majority of the town? Are they acting like they were closer to her than they were? It could prompt applicants to think about it right away!). If youâd still like to keep the context of addressing the reader directly, maybe include a statement from the mayor on this tragedy. Or a selection of letters to the editor from the local paper. I just wanted a little more to make the plot really stand out.
I wasnât sure where you put your subplots portion, and while I think theyâre a very helpful addition to get players going because sometimes your mind can just not work to give you good plot ideas, I only figured out how people can be involved by poking around to different parts of the page. I might just not be familiar with this sort of structure, but I think a brief description of how you select what plot and what muse within the plot youâd like your character to be would be important to put on the subplots page. Additionally, can more than one character be a certain muse in the plots? Like can multiple group execute a plot? You should make clear the parameters of using them either within the rules or on the subplots page, just help those of us (like me) who donât understand out. Itâll also probably save you some confused asks from people!
Rules: 9/10
Theyâre very simply and straightforward. Theyâre whatâs expected of respectful players! My only qualms are the mentioning someone being on for at least an hour. Iâm not sure how strictly youâll be following this idea, but it seems hard to keep track of unless youâre having players clock in and out, and if youâre not going to do that, I say take out the mention of the hour. Sometimes you can pump out replies in no time, but others youâre staring at the same reply for hours on end (and it refuses to write itself) or youâre just sending people asks to plot! I think sticking that time minimum on it could stress people out. Additionally, you mention tagging triggers (yay!) but donât have a trigger list (not yay). Add a trigger list to your nav (even if there arenât any currently, have it there so players will feel comfortable letting you know triggers they need tagged) and youâll be golden!
Characters: n/a
Iâm not going to give a score for characters, since this is an OC roleplay (nothing wrong with that, I love OC roleplays!), however Iâll just give some feedback on your most wanted list. The little selection in your sidebar is great: itâs diverse and has some faces you see people playing all the time and some you donât see as often (I especially appreciate youâre catering to older players and giving some older FCs as well!). When I click on the full most wanted list, I have to say, Iâm pretty overwhelmed. While all of the FCs listed are absolutely lovely, thereâs just so many. If you could cut the lists in half, itâd be super helpful, I think for helping people who are struggling with picking an FC. Additionally, add a non-binary list!
Overall Impression: 39/50
I think you have a lovely little small town roleplay on your hands! I think you guys definitely have the abilities to kick up the plot a notch in terms of relating it to the reader even more and getting them really hooked. If you just add a few explanations and cut down the wanted FCs, I think youâre RP could really take off!

On themes
Whenever youâre in an RP the most important aspect is, of course, the writing.
But that doesnât mean your blog canât be pretty. Now, there are people who can rock the standard theme they give you when you make a blog. But it isnât really that fun, is it? Besides, it looks all well and clean when you first start out, but it can turn into a hot mess in a hot minute.
But if youâre just starting out, or have never really adventured outside of the themes tumblr just shows you, it may be intimidating to find a theme.
But, luckily, there are great places to help you out. RPHs (like me, even though I havenât reblogged any⌠yet!) usually have a selection of favorite themes for you to browse.
Or another place, that is my first go-to for theme is manatopia. She has her own themes and her favorites. Her tumblr is actually a great reference in general for editing, themes, gifs, etc.
Another option if you didnât find one that was quite a fit, and youâre joining a group, creep through the membersâ blogs. They should have kept the theme credit on their blog (NEVER EVER REMOVE A THEME CREDIT. Itâs rude, and then, as if you needed another reason, people canât search through that theme-makerâs themes), and then you can click on it, and search through the themes from that theme-maker. (I suggest themes with a lot of links so you can link to your bio (always a great link so people can start to get plot ideas for their character and yours! And itâs just helpful in general), your main RP (if youâre in a group), pictures of your fabulous FC, playlists, paras, gif chats, etc.)
Now, youâve found a theme, but you wanna customize it a bit more for your character. Keep these key points in mind:
