Watch No Good Nick
All right, every single post I’ve seen for No Good Nick where people are like “why is everyone sleeping on this show???” is always started with “I’m not gonna give spoilers, but you should watch this show.”
No, nope, no no no. There are some “spoilers” people NEED to watch a show. I’m not just gonna watch something cause someone told me to.
So here are spoilers without actual spoilers:
Nick is a foster kid (13 at the start of the show) and also a con artist who goes to live with the Thompson family. The Thompson’s unknowingly ruined her whole life, and she desperately wants to get revenge on them, so she has her foster parents (also con artists, running a foster care con-ring) forge papers and documents to make the Thompson’s think that she’s related to the father. She claims her parents died in a crash and that the Thompson’s are the closest living family she has, so they take her in.
For the first season, we don’t know what the Thompson’s have done, but we know that it’s bad. Nick is pulling a double scam - her foster parents think she’s prepping an inside job to make them millions, but she’s working primarily for herself and for revenge.
The show focuses on family, on friendship, and on trust, and even though it’s labelled as a comedy, it can get VERY dark and deep sometimes. There’s several scenes where the faults of the foster care system are brought up that moved me to tears.
Some basic spoilers without spoilers:
- There’s gay rep, and it’s BEAUTIFUL. No one is cruel, there’s absolutely zero homophobia, just acceptance, and there are no (cruel) outings (just a funny one that turns heartfelt). The gay rep IS a main character, and part two has their coming out as an overarching side plot. Also, there’s a recurring character who’s played by a trans actress and I love her.
- The flashback episode to explain what the Thompson’s did to Nick WILL make you hate them, but by the time they show it, you’ve grown to love them so much that you’re confused, which is exactly how Nick is portrayed as - confused because she loves them, but still pissed about what they did. It was very cleverly done.
- Jerry Trainor guest stars frequently and it’s like if Spencer from iCarly was on drugs (he dabbed AND yeeted). I love him
- Every person in the show learns a lesson at some point or another, not just Nick. Everyone grows and matures by the end of the second part, coming together more as a family. The parallels between the first episode and the last episode are wild.
- The show also delves a lot into the found family trope (the whole SHOW is basically the found family trope), and I know y’all are suckers for that shit because so am I.
- The character dynamics flip dramatically from Part One to Part Two, specifically with the siblings (Jeremy and Molly) and Nick, and it makes watching it so much more fascinating.
So if you wanted ACTUAL reasons to watch this show (and please do, because I desperately want a second season/third part, and we all know how Netflix is), or a better, more in depth synopsis of it, here you go! (Also if you have more questions pls ask me I could rave about this show for ages lmao)

no good nick was the most insane show ever made. a disney-esque sitcom about a disadvantaged foster teen who infiltrates and gaslights a local family while continuously trying and failing to rob them. there’s a top chef subplot involving rats and spaghetti. a 14 year old girl successfully robs a multinational bank. spencer from icarly is there

Watching No Good Nick and wondering where the Thompsons got the AUDACITY.
Ed was the worst though? He literally broke the rules for his wife but wasn’t willing to follow them for Nick’s father.
