The Quick-&-Easy Makeup Artist Guide to Under-Eye Concealer
By the time most of us find out what causes dark under-eye circles — mainly genetics or bad lifestyle choices — the damage has been done. Now we’ve got to slather on vitamin K- and vitamin C-rich eye creams and makeup to diminish the unsightly color that lets everyone know we’re not getting enough sleep.
It’s hardly surprising that under-eye concealer remains a must-have. Even if you don’t wear a full face of cosmetics every day, a small swipe of this stuff disguises blemishes with little effort. Unfortunately, it can do the opposite when applied incorrectly. So if you need a refresher, here’s exactly how to do it the right way.
More: A Fall Makeup Guide for Every Zodiac Sign
Finding your shade
Like your foundation, color matching matters with under-eye concealer. When you utilize the wrong shade, you risk cakey-looking skin or, worse, emphasizing the darkness of your already dark circles.
According to celebrity makeup artist Min Min Ma (Hailee Steinfeld, Zosia Mamet, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jared Leto), the best way to cancel out under-eye darkness is with a pink or warm-color base. This counterbalances that blue-gray darkness and also brightens the area, creating a glowy, highlighting effect.
Liquid vs. powder
Although powder concealer may be more appealing to those with oily skin, Ma actually finds cream or liquid formulas much easier to apply, blend and maintain, regardless of your skin type. It also looks the most natural.
“I never use powder concealer because it looks cakey as the powder gets into the fine lines and wrinkles. Instead, I recommend sticking to cream/liquid,” she says. “Cream-based for those with dry and premature skin. Since it’s less oily, liquid can be used for normal, oily and acne-prone skin types.”

Application
Once you’re ready to apply your under-eye concealer, start by applying your foundation first. “The foundation can camouflage a bit of under-eye darkness so you don’t have to use a lot of concealer,” says Ma. From there, you’ll need a small, flat synthetic brush to spread evenly under the eye.
“I do like using brushes for application because it makes the job easier and the application more smooth-looking. I like flat-shaped brushes best, such as Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage brush and Hourglass No 8 large concealer brush,” she says. “Note that blending is also important to the final result. Lightly tap the concealer with your fingertip to ‘set’ the work and remove excess concealer. If you’re using a nongreasy concealer, I would forgo setting powder altogether.”
If you need a starter list of formulas to try, Ma’s favorites are the Lilah B. Virtuous Veil concealer, Hourglass Hidden corrective concealer, Lancôme Effacernes waterproof protective under-eye concealer and Tom Ford waterproof concealer and foundation.

Twist Out Tutorial From A 3 Year Old!
Teaching our kids to love their natural hair as it grows is one of the most important life lessons that we teach them. Having them help you with styling their hair I believe is the best way to achieve this.
When they learn to handle and become familiar with their hair from an early age, they develop a knack for it and the fear associated with dealing with our thick tresses just never develops.
Little 3 year old Riley shares with us her first tutorial on how to do a twist out. Can I just say that she scores about 11 out of 10 on the cuteness scale and her twist out turned out beautiful!

Playwright Heidi Schreck On Why Examining the Constitution Is 'Controversial'
Playwright Heidi Schreck is doing groundbreaking work.
Years before her current play was tweeted about by Hillary Clinton and lauded by Gloria Steinem for What the Constitution Means to Me, the playwright and actor took on "sunny characters with something steelier underneath,” as described by The New York Times. She starred in Circle Mirror Transformation, Amazons and their Men, and even The Madrid alongside Edie Falco. But when commissioned by True Love Productions in 2015 to write a play — after 20 years of ruminating on the impact of being a master debater in high school — her life, filled with contentious internal dialogue about the founding pillars of this country, became her most intimate art yet.
“My plays are all about fictional characters,” Heidi, who earnestly chooses her words, tells Teen Vogue. “I hide all my stories in there.”
“I didn't realize how much taboo I had internalized. Even with a mother who taught me to stand up and speak the truth, I was like, ‘Ugh. I don't want to.’ A lot of feelings came up in my body, like, ‘Nobody wants to hear about this. It's shameful. It's indulgent to talk about. It's not interesting.’ And then fear in talking about the abuse in my family, even though I didn't suffer it. Just talking about that felt incredibly scary.”
Writing What the Constitution Means to Me was a bit of an epiphany. All Heidi’s life experiences amalgamated into stage format, critically analyzing a 230-year-old document that affects the very livelihood of every American, yet resides in the recesses of our minds.
If you see the play, which is at The Helen Hayes Theater until Aug 24, it would appear that it was written to address the zeitgeist of a post-Trump nation. Topics like abortion, immigration, xenophobia, and civil rights are all brought up in the form of Heidi traversing these topics as her 15-year-old self. But in actuality, the topics in question — largely touched upon in the 9th, 14th, and 15th amendments — have always been shrouded in incongruences.
"I think when Obama was president, it felt like, 'This is a new hopeful time.' And it was a hopeful time," Heidi says. "But it didn't mean that all those issues were gone. I think what we're now seeing is ugliness laid completely bare with no attempt to act or rectifying it by this government. When I performed the play in 2012, it felt like I was investigating things that we didn't have to talk about as much ... or some of us weren't talking about as much — certainly not privileged white ladies."
Even for lawmakers, the Constitution is a complex script to unpack. Heidi's agenda — in addition to a bit of catharsis from her own generational trauma — is to explore the boundaries of the Constitution, what the United States' forefathers had in mind when writing it, and if it is appropriate for today's world.
“I started studying those cases and then I think that got me thinking about the women in my family,” Heidi says. “And so, the play is structured both as like a deep examination of one tiny section of the Constitution, understanding it as deeply as I could, how it affected my life, and then that leading into [my] family history.”

Burgundy Hues + Luxe Accents Steal the Show at this Bohemian Beach Wedding in Tulum
Marina + Erik had so many different wedding plans during their engagement—they talked about Italy, New York, California, and Greece. But they decided they really needed to sit down one night and figure out what were the most important things to the both of them. Marina tells us: We are far from our families and closest friends, so being able to spend time with everyone was at the top of our list, along with being able to experience “our day” for as long as possible.
We realized this might be the only time we could request that everyone we love go on vacation with us. A vacation with EVERYONE we love! Being from different coasts, we needed to find a middle ground between CA and NY. Everyone loves Mexico, and we love Tulum. So there you have it, folks! The consensus was to surround themselves with everyone they love for a glorious vacation in Mexico. Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?
Forget the winter blues, let’s head to The Nest in Tulum and explore the beach in all the photos BrittRene Photo captured!
The Details
M+E chose a luxurious burgundy and cream palette for their beach wedding—a sort of spin on a modern winter palette, which is pretty fun for the setting. Don’t you think?
Isn’t that textured Carol Hannah gown a DREAM?!
The Ceremony on the Beach
You probably already know how much we ADORE pampas grass…plus rugs down the aisle! This is such a luxe yet relaxed bohemian look and we wouldn’t change a thing about it.
Our Musical Choices
Processional: Higher Love by James Vincent McMorrow + On the Nature of Daylight by Max Richter
Recessional: Can’t Help Falling in Love With You by UB40
First Dance: The Night We Met by Lord Huron
Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding
Marina: The moment before walking down the aisle. There was this surge of adrenaline and nerves that I’ve never felt. I was with my parents, about to see and be seen by my husband, and witnessing all the hard work that went into this day. It was butterflies!!
Erik: It was taking the dance party into the ocean! Everyone ran into the ocean, one after another. Clothing optional!
The Newlyweds
We didn’t want to take away from the majestic natural beauty around us, so we played it down with the colors with a bold pop of a winter red/burgundy hue.
Pink proteas, plump red roses, a touch of thistle, and hanging amaranthus…how gorgeous is this bouquet?
You’ve got to read about the super sweet way Erik proposed. Marina tells us:
I was on a trip with to Italy with my friends. We were in Rome the last few days of the trip and were coming home from dinner, when Erik asked me go pick up a package he sent to a restaurant near our Airbnb (he said that was the closest place he could find to deliver this package). After some initial hesitation, I dragged my friends to the restaurant down the road. I asked one of the waiters if there was a package waiting for me, he smiled and told me to follow him.
I followed him outside, and saw Erik with a glass of Scotch, peeking behind a huge tree that was in the middle of the restaurant. I’m not sure why I started to cry, but it was not because the thought of an engagement crossed my mind. I didn’t even think about that. I just thought, “Oh my God, another incredible grand gesture!” (He’s very good at those).
After a drink, my friends went back to our place and Erik and I took a walk. We ended up at this empty square, with a grand old building behind us. He started saying all these sweet things and then I turned around to see him on one knee with this beautiful ring!
The Luxe “Winter” Reception
While the temps might not have reflected the typical winter ones, that didn’t mean they couldn’t style the table like so!
We are HERE for the copper detailing and gold accents with those pops of burgundy. So luxe, so cool, so crisp!
That copper tubing was a DIY. Dig the look? Let us know in the comments if we should make a tutorial on how to create something similar!
Our Advice To Those Planning Now
Do not get caught up in little details! No on notices it but you. Make a list of what’s most important to the both of you and focus on that first.
How’s that for a “winter” romance? Cheers to the two of you!
If you’re wanting to escape to the beach for just a bit longer, take a peek at this clip from Matt Williams:

Adventure junkie camps and explores with his beloved dog
Adventure junkie and his beloved rescue dog spend their days scaling mountains, wading through rivers and camping in the SNOW - and even live in a motor home to be closer to the outdoors
Michael Dietrich, 28, of Edmonton, Canada, spends half his week adventuring
The personal trainer enjoys hiking, camping and exploring with his rescue dog
Michael and BearBear are happy to sleep in the wild even when its snowing

A personal trainer swapped his house for a motor home so he could spend more time adventuring with his beloved rescue dog.
Michael Dietrich, 28, of Edmonton, Canada, spends half his week hiking up mountains, wading through rivers and camping in the wild, all with his trusted dog BearBear by his side.
The fearless duo are happiest when they are exploring the rugged wilderness, even if its snowing.
And Michael, who documents his escapades on Instagram, insists more people should stop bingeing Netflix shows and start seeing more of the great outdoors.
On top of the world: Michael Dietrich, 28, of Edmonton, Canada, spends half his week hiking up mountains, wading through rivers and camping in the wild, all with his trusted dog BearBear by his side. Pictured, the pair pose for an outrageous photo on top of a mountain
Adventuring: Michael and BearBear wade through a river in the Canadian wilderness near their home in Alberta. The daring duo are happiest when their exploring the outdoors
Best friends: Michael rescued BearBear, a German Shepherd-Labrador-Husky cross, after he found him freezing to death outside on New Year's Eve six years ago, when he was a month old
Intrepid: Armed with a camera, Michael and BearBear pose for a photo in the deep snow. Michael moved into an RV to pursue his adventuring after the end of a relationship last year
'Whatever I am feeling at that given time I do,' Michael said. 'On a day where we hike for the day, we hike or run up the mountains, see the most incredible days, then make our way back to the truck.
'We head over to a hot spring where we relax and clean up, then pop into a coffee shop, get some work done, maybe meet up with a friend in the area and see where the night goes.
'The next day I wake up and again last minute decide what I'm doing and I do it. In a typical week I usually get three to five summits, it's awesome.
'I always have my bags packed and am ready for any kind of adventure. I love backcountry camping year-round including winter, so on adventures like that I have a bag on my back and hike deep into the mountains and have nothing to do but keep myself alive.'
Constant companion: Michael will only choose routes that are suitable for BearBear, pictured together on their way to a summit. The pair have run as much as 43miles in a single day
Back to nature: Michael and BearBear set up camp in the snowy mountains of Canada. Michael urged people to ditch their Netflix binges and nights on the couch for days in the outdoors
Further afield: Michael and BearBear on board a helicopter on their way to another adventure
Michael rescued BearBear after he found him freezing to death on New Year's Eve, then just four weeks old. Six years on and the pair are inseparable.
Michael said: I have never been on a mountain adventure without him. He has been on every mountain, every summit, every lake.
'BearBear is such an incredible dog. He is so confident and so brave. He is the best adventure partner I could ever ask for. I don't know what I'm going to do on the first adventure when he slows down and I need to leave him behind.'
Michael set-up his company, fitMD Personal Training, after injury forced him to give up his dream of becoming a professional soccer player.
Desperate to keep in shape, he discovered backcountry exploring and fell in love with the outdoors.
Picture perfect views: Michael and BearBear have more than 17,000 Instagram followers
Quality time: Michael said the time he has with BearBear is more important than what he sees on his travels. Pictured, the pair snap an Instagram photo beside a frozen lake
Fresh perspective: Michael decided to spend more time adventuring after an eight-year relationship came to an end in March 2018. He now spends half his week exploring
Spur of the moment: Michael's lifestyle means he can set off to explore with a moment's notice
Michael slowly began spending more time on off-road adventures and committed to living in an RV full time in March last year after his eight-year relationship came to an end.
He now spends half his week working on his business and the other half exploring the lakes and summits of Canmore, Banff and Abraham Lake, which are a four-hour drive from Edmonton.
Michael continued: 'I did a lot of self-reflection and asked myself what I wanted in this next chapter of my life. I decided to pursue my passion for adventure as it was bringing me so much fun and happiness. I decided to move into my RV full time.
'That once or twice a month adventure turned into three to four days per week. I still work on my business Monday to Wednesday or Thursday but the rest of my time is spent in the mountains, I love it. I hike, I bike, I RV camp, I backcountry camp. I do it all.'
Off-road adventures: Michael and BearBear pose for a photo on the edge of a mountain
Relaxation: The adventure junkie sometimes ends a day's exploring with a dip in a hot spring
Michael and Bear, a German Shepherd, Labrador and Husky, are both very fit and can run up to 43.5 miles (70km) in a day. And the personal trainer will never do a trip without his dog.
'There are some big bucket list hikes that I will never go on cause they are not dog friendly, but that doesn't really bother me,' he said.
'My time spent with him is much more important than seeing some beautiful landscape. He is the best view I could ever ask for.'
The social media star, who has more than 17,000 Instagram followers, urged fans to get out and explore the landscape wherever they live.
He added: 'It doesn't matter where you live, there are beautiful areas all over the world, we are spoiled here in Alberta that my hometown is only four hours away from a fairy tale.
Playful: Michael and BearBear make the most of their time together in the outdoors
Stunning scenery: Just one of the amazing landscapes Michael and BearBear have explored
'But people here complain that the drive is too far while they sit there and watch episode after episode of Netflix and I'm out there making memories and experiences that fill my soul with happiness.
'So, I guess I want people to just pack their bags, drive to somewhere awesome after work and have some kick a** weekends and live not just exist.
'I started off not having a clue in the world what I was doing. Looking back, I can't believe I am where I am now and all the things I have got to see and do.
'It has all been so worth it and has filled my life full of so much happiness and purpose. It has been such an incredible journey.'

Kittens, is the world tense and scary to you? Do you have a day ahead of you you’d rather fast-forward through? Do you need something soothing and pretty to help you get your engine started? Rami is here for you, ready and willing to be adorable at the drop of a penny.
Full disclosure: we don’t love the yellow part (and possibly the entire sweater), but everything else is so eye-catching and it’s all so appealingly outside the dress-like-a-banker box most male stars inhabit. We are compelled to love it. Or at least the bottom half of it.

Julia Roberts In Givenchy Haute Couture – ‘Homecoming’ Toronto International Film Festival Premiere
A Julia Roberts red-carpet sighting has been rare of late, so it was a treat to see her at the premiere of ‘Homecoming’ at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival in Canada on Friday (September 7).
The jumpsuit takes on a new attitude in this Givenchy Fall 2018 Haute Couture trompe l’oeil variation with the cape detail offering a modern edge.
However, there’s still plenty of retro power-dressing spirit to this look, which is accessorised by Givenchy pumps, a Tyler Ellis clutch, and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. I do think a sleeker hairstyle would have benefited the ensemble.
Was it a yay or nay for you?

What Is Water Fasting And Is It Safe For Weight Loss
What Is Water Fasting And Is It Safe For Weight Loss Shivani K
Tumblr media
September 7, 2018
Most of us have come across the notion of fasting—predominantly owing to religious practices (Karwachauth vrath or Sankashti vrath, Ramadan, etc.). But there are various other reasons for fasting, like health problems or simply to get rid of the extra pounds that we carry on ourselves. And, if you are setting off on a fasting spree only to lose some extra weight, then we’re sure you have tried most of the uber cool fad diet options
available these days (1). Among the list of diets, water fasting seems to have earned itself the top position. Before we start off to explain what exactly water fasting is, allow us to squeeze in a simple concern that whatever may be the nature of the fast you choose to do, make sure you consult your doctor and keep in mind whether or not your body will be able to handle it.
What Is Water Fasting?
As the name suggests, this type of fasting has everything to do with just water. A person who has decided to fast should stop all sorts of consumption of food and beverages, except for water. Research suggests that although there aren’t any limitations on the number of days for this fast, it is best to limit it from anywhere between 24 hours to 72 hours (2).
Why Choose Water Fast?
Autophagy is the answer to this (3). Water fasting helps in inducing autophagy at a healthy level in our body. Now, if you’re wondering what autophagy is? Well, it’s a process of natural regeneration that occurs in our body at a cellular level (4). It is a mechanism where the body reprograms itself by flushing out the old or damaged cells of our body and replaces them with new ones (we can call it a body reboot). In addition to this, water fasting promotes the growth of good bacteria in our bodies which results in a good digestive system, improved metabolism, weight, and cardiometabolic conditions.
How To Water Fast:
The rules are pretty simple.
Eat and drink nothing but water for the duration of the fast.
No vitamins or supplements or any medication should be taken except for thyroid medicine.
Don’t overexert yourself with activities as it might cause nausea, dizziness or headaches (5).
Drink a minimum of 2-3 liters of water on each day of the fast. You can definitely drink more.
This fast is strictly prohibited for people suffering from chronic disorders, eating disorders, type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Children, pregnant woman, and those with kidney problems, etc., should refrain from this diet too, as it could lead to further health complications (6).
Important To Note: Also, if you haven’t ever fasted before, prepare your body by going on a liquid diet before you start this water fasting. Another important thing to remember is that post the water fasting, never gorge on a big meal immediately. Eat in small portions and allow your body to come back to normal. Else, you might develop a Refeeding syndrome—a crucial condition where your body undergoes whirlwind changes in fluids and electrolytes (7).
Benefits Of Water Fasting
1. It Can Reduce Blood Pressure
Research shows that a medically supervised water fasting has led to a considerable reduction in blood pressure in those who suffered from high blood pressure (8).
2. It Can Improve Leptin And Insulin Sensitivity
These two are the hormones that affect our body’s metabolism. Insulin helps to store the nutrients from the blood, whereas, leptin is responsible to help our body feel full (9), (10). And, water fasting can improve their sensitivity.
3. It Can Lower The Risk Of Chronic Diseases
Studies have also shown that observing a water fast for just 24 hours has resulted in lower levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, which are otherwise the primary reasons for heart diseases (11). A study has shown that water fasting can prevent and control chronic diseases like diabetes and cancer (12), (13).
Negative Impacts Of Water Fasting
This type of fasting can be extremely challenging for certain individuals and dangerous too. The study shows that extreme water fasting can affect the kidneys and lead to a decrease in the CoQ10 level in our body (14). CoQ10 is an enzyme which is naturally produced by our cells and tissues. This enzyme is responsible for pumping energy into our cells and strengthening our muscles (15). Excessive water fasting can lead to brain fog, fatigue, dehydration, and even orthostatic hypotension.
Therefore, it is mandatory to enter the world of water fasting only under medical supervision. Water fasting for one or two days is feasible, but if you are planning to continue it for more than 2 days, consult your doctor. Because any type of fasting when done on an extreme level without proper medical guidance can have negative repercussions on the body.
Have you tried water fasting? Do you think it’s easy and beneficial? Let us know about your experience in the comments below.

Celebs Celebrate NYFW with Bags from Louis Vuitton, Longchamp and Fendi
NYFW is all over the news this week, but maybe the real news here is: Celebs carry bags you could actually afford in less than one paycheck! Because shockingly, that happened multiple times this week. During Fashion Week, no less! NYFW drives all of the A-listers (and aspiring A-listers) out of their hidey-holes, decked in designer gear from head to toe. They are never less likely to be seen grabbing a green juice in gym sweats than in early September. Though watch: Someone will prove me wrong. In any case, the bag picks from some of NYFW's biggest players may inspire you to start budgeting for a new bag purchase.

Moody Romance in this Hauntingly Beautiful Affair
By The Perfect Palette - October 30, 2018 - 1 Comment
'Tis the night before Halloween, m'dears! So you know what that means, right? Time to share all of the moodiest, most hauntingly beautiful wedding ideas we can. And so imagine how we felt when this spine-chilling soiree hit our inbox?
The mood was set with the discovery of this unique alley in Central Pennsylvania. J. Mathewson Photo captured the most beautiful moments with planning, rentals, and event design by Elise Event Company. While florals from Green Sinner were lush, luxe, and stylish all the way.
This location was perfect for bringing this ‘Moody Romance’ styled shoot to life! The scene features an antique light-up sign, distinctive shed doors, black walls, tree overlays, and sole stairs already in place. We love how this team was able to enhance these features through chic set-ups and incredible styling.

The Cakery whipped up the loveliest one tier chocolate cake. We're loving the simple greenery and the one rose on top!

This invitation suite from S. M. Wish Designs truly set the tone for this moody affair.

Ask Jean: Do Face Oils Really Work?
Tumblr media
We want to answer your most pressing questions—or, you know, just the things that you’re curious about. Please keep them coming to: [email protected], or tweet us @goop. Below, a q for our beauty director, Jean Godfrey-June.
Dear Jean, Do face oils really work? —E.M.
Dear E.M., It depends on what you mean by “work,” and it depends on the face oil. Most face oils are amazing moisturizers—as moisturizers, they really, really work, leaving your skin temporarily more supple, plumped, and smooth. If by “work” you mean “has the effect of a face-lift or Botox,” no cream or oil or anything topical is going to have that effect, no matter what they promise.
What many people mean by “work” is “make my skin peel.” Even I succumb to this very American, no pain, no gain definition of “work” when it comes to skin care; I was devoted to rip-your-face-off/acne-and-wrinkle-fighting prescription Tazorac, which made my skin dry, so I needed a flood of face oil to compensate. Another way to accomplish a similar exfoliating thing is with alpha and beta hydroxy acids, as in the famous goop by Juice Beauty Exfoliating Instant Facial ($125, goop), which gently but extremely thoroughly gets rid of every bit of grime, revealing the fresher skin beneath; there’s no doubt as to its “working.”
The one oil I’ve tried that I do feel goes beyond moisturizing and into full-on “it’s working!” territory is Vintner’s Daughter. The makeup artist Alice Lane turned me on to it: It’s made in Napa Valley, utterly organic, full of every sort of appealing essential oil you can think of—it made a glamorous-yet-still-standard face-oil impression on me when I initially read about it.
But try it and you, like me, will join the Vintner’s Daughter stampede. Smooth the rich, wildly luxurious organic oil on at night and your skin will look as if you’ve had a peel or even microdermabrasion in the morning. It might even peel a bit, satisfying the skin care obsessives among us. I don’t use the oil within twenty-four hours of anything major like a peel—it’s too much “working”/skin-perfecting going on all at once.
All face oils work; Vintner’s Daughter works overtime and then some ($185, goop).

Check out all of my Birchbox reviews and the Beauty Subscription Box Directory!
Each box comes with a card detailing the items included and some tips on how to use them.
Now on to the items!
Stila Cosmetics Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina Shimmer – 1.5 ml Value $11
(This is half the size of the full size version!)
I was so excited to try this since Patina in the matte finish is my go lip shade every day. (I highly recommend Stila’s liquid lip formulas – all the shades I’ve tried hold the pigment well throughout the day and wear down evenly, too.)
This shimmer is a much bolder look than the matte Patina shade, so I’ll probably wear it only for more glam looks. The shimmer is amazing and it has almost a metallic look on. Here it is swatched:
Hum Nutrition Hair Sweet Hair Gummies – 2 gummies Value $.83
(These were included as a bonus 6th item.)
I love gummies, and I’ve sampled HUM products before and haven’t had any stomach issues with their formulas, so I gobble these up immediately! They were pretty tasty, and the formula features folic acid, biotin, and zinc to help improve the health of hair.
R + CO Park Ave Blow Out Balm – 15 ml Value $2.90
I love R+Co scents, and this is another great one. It’s more subtle than some of their other scented products, and it fades a little quicker than I would like. (It had notes of sweet citrus.) The formula itself is light and didn’t weigh down my hair, but added some softness.
Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment – 5 ml Value $17.50
This is a lactic acid treatment designed to exfoliate dead skin cells, plumps fine lines, and evens out hyperpigmentation. The tube is completely full, so I had enough to sample this for a week, too. I *think* I could notice a difference in the evenness of my skin tone, and I’m tempted to buy it in full-size. (FYI – I don’t love the smell, but it doesn’t linger.)
Thisworks deep sleep pillow spray – 5 ml Value $1.93
This is a spray for your pillow and sheets and designed to help you fall asleep. It’s made with Lavender and Chamomile and smells dreamy!
Touch in Sol No Poreblem Primer – 3.5 ml Value $2.10
I’ve sampled Touch In Sol lip and eye products before (very impressive formulas), but this is my first time trying their primer. This gel formula is oil-free, absorbed almost instantly, and gave my skin a smooth finish – I’m a fan!
Verdict: This box has a value of about $36.26 – I think that’s good for a $10 beauty box! In general, the curated boxes from Birchbox tend to have a good value, so if that’s important to you, I recommend picking those each month! This box is a hit for me – I like every single item. (And great brands, too!)
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this box is available for a one-time purchase! And if you subscribe to Birchbox now, check the image on the sign-up page. The box design pictured is the first month you’ll receive. You can’t pick the curated box as your first box, but you’ll be able to pick it every month moving forward.

Black Tartan
Black Tartan. What a great name for a collection … and what a great collection: classic styles, in updated color ways and silhouettes. When I hear Barbour I think of the timeless quilted jacket, and then immediately: fall. It’s my favorite season and I’m more than excited to kick it off with Barbour as the sponsor for today’s blog post.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m wearing two pieces from Barbour I this look, the Edderton Quilt jacket in black, and the Dunoon Shirt in Graphite. Let’s take a closer look at the latter, a graphite colored base, the plaid comprised of navy and subtle white lines, minimal yet unique. It’s got a modern, slim fit, and the cotton fabric is incredibly soft against the skin. I chose to combine that with the Edderton Quilt, my favorite piece out of the collection: I think it works perfectly for my aesthetic, walking the line between classic – the quilted jacket fabric – and modern – the bomber jacket fit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I finished the look off with houndstooth grey ad black pants and a pair of hiking boots, to really embrace the versatility between the city and the outdoors that is so inherent to Barbour’s collection. You can shop the Barbour pieces on the Bloomingdale’s Website and in-store!

Woolrich Is Closing Its Last US Mill
According to the Pennsylvania ABC affiliate, WNEP 16, Woolrich, Inc. is closing its 188-year-old Woolrich, PA woolen mill – its last in America – by year’s end.
“The company says it is shuttering the mill due to higher manufacturing costs,” the story says, leaving 40 employees out of a job in the town, and further underscoring the problems facing long-standing American manufacturers.
Going forward, all production will be handled overseas, WNEP reported, “a move Woolrich began in November of 2016” and one that will ostensibly increase profitability. But, as with the Cone Mills closure last December, another small town will be disproportionately affected in the process.
And while many locals were reportedly aware that one of “Clinton County’s longest running businesses” was closing, the announcement still stung. “I think it’s horrible,” one resident said. “Another American industry gone, you know? Just the way it is…”
Woolrich, for their part, is going to keep its wholesale and local retail operations going, and they’ve said they’ll be providing “career transitional services” for laid-off employees, which will include “helping them to find new jobs at area businesses.”
You can read more about it at WNEP 16.

TaylorMade x Tiger Woods P7TW Irons
Freed from restraints like budgets or existing materials and processes, Titleist CNCPT Irons are the result of letting their R&D engineers run wild. Both the more forgiving CP-01 and more workable CP-02 are made with a rare, super-strong metal alloy never before used in club making, allowing for the thinnest unsupported, constant-thickness face in golf. Dubbed the Super Metal L-Face Insert, it produces extraordinary ball speeds, which when paired with loads of high-density tungsten gives them a higher launch, greater distance, and a steeper angle of descent. Given their price — $500 per iron — Titleist is scheduling fittings for interested buyers, and thus you won't find these sitting on store shelves.
