"Help me," he begs, his voice like crackling ice, the porcelain-fine skin around his lips cracking as they move. "It hurts, Ladybug, please." How can't she? This is Chat, after all; her Chat, her friend, her partner. "Where's the akuma?" she asks, moving in cautiously. He gestures to the scarf about his neck, the fine blue yarn a loose noose. She reaches out gingerly--and her world explodes in mind-destroying agony. She tries to block the next blow, but his hand latches onto her throat.
As Chat lifts her easily into the air, his grip iron-hard and unyielding, as blood fails to reach her head and air fails to reach her lungs, she hears him say, flatly, coldly, “Chat Noir isn’t here anymore.” Her world goes black.
