Chrome support paused, new FF release soon
For anyone following me for Raccoony updates, I've made the decision to pause Chrome support. Details here: https://github.com/Simon-Tesla/RaccoonyWebEx/discussions/169
I'm hoping to get the next Firefox release out soon, though, with a few bugfixes and new and improved support for Patreon, SubscribeStar and Itaku.

hello there! racoony's path seem to be not working anymore as it save in normal folder rather than save in racoony's folder. is it bug? i reset setting and reinstall and it still the same. and the file name isn't the same as racoony' setting.
Huh. I haven't noticed this issue under Firefox. I'm currently away from my normal setup so I can't test in depth. Please feel free to create a bug on GitHub with more details.

Hey there!
Not a question but a comment, after working out a trouble I'd been having for a while regarding Raccoony's syntax and where and what subdirectories a JPEG or image file is saved therein based on the syntax and setup in the Raccoony extension's settings/options.
First of all: I worked out that the base directory for the tree is whatever your browser's default directory is, in my case, I use one on my F: drive called 'Back Me Up', rather than 'Downloads', the latter one which is used as the example.
I point out that the potential behaviour of using a drive-letter syntax is not mentioned explicitly and clearly in the Raccoony FAQ, and that an actual root directory termed verbatim (say, like my F:\Back Me Up\) in the 'Download path' and/or 'Right-click menu download path' fields under Raccoony's Options will cause Raccoony to malfunction, creating a filename like 'Back_Me_Up', for example.
When I realized that the default save directory was where wherever subsequent directories started their directory tree-ascent or the files per boolean syntax therein were placed, the formatting was tremendously simple: '{currentTimestamp}{filenameExt}' in my 'Right-click menu download path' field, creating the file without subdirectories aside from being placed in 'F:\Back Me Up', my default browser save directory, with a timestamp at the beginning of each file or subsequent copy of that file (rather than overwriting the original file, importantly).
I mean no unkind criticism of the Raccoony FAQ's writing style and contents, only that I impress and suggest what I've long been taught: "If you need someone to RTFM, first write it like they've never done it before." Respect the ability of a new user, and understand their ignorance of how a program or extension works, by reducing the explanation to simple and straightforward clarity without shorting them on the information therein.
Raccoony is a wonderfully useful extension that I'm happy to have in my particular browser palette, and I'm thoroughly chuffed to add what I've learned and reasoned out today about how saving and formatting filenames works, thus I post this your way as well.
Carry on, excellent chummer, and thank you again kindly!
-2Paw.
Yeah, the documentation and UI surrounding customizing what folder path gets used isn't awesome, and it's on the list of improvements I'd like to make at some point. The documentation does say that it's rooted wherever your browser downloads folder is, though. (This is a limitation of the browser extension platform and not something I can directly control.)
Raccoony is very much a spare-time and spare-energy project though, originally written to scratch my own itches, so development is sporadic and not particularly rigorous. I welcome code or documentation contributions though.

1.2.6 Prerelease version out
While I'm at it, there's a prerelease version of Raccoony available with some new features and bugfixes if you'd like to try it out. You'll need to install the extension manually to use the prerelease version. Check out the releases page for more info:

1.2.5.1 hotfix release
Firefox changed how they load extension scripts which made it so that the right-click save functionality wouldn't work reliably. I've patched a fix and Firefox users should see the update automatically, but if not, download it here. (Chrome users are not affected.)

At this point I'd say don't scan Discord QR codes ever unless you are very, very sure you know what you're doing. And probably not even then. (Also, enable 2FA; it won't help for this specific scam, as discord skips 2FA verification with QR code logins for some inexplicable reason, but it's a good idea generally.)
guys, this d.iscord virus is going around again. remember kids: don’t click random links without explanations. here’s what’s up with it.

Is there anyway to download everything automatically?
As noted here, this isn't really something Raccoony is designed to do. You ought to check out the gallery-dl project for this sort of thing.

Hey! I've recently stumbled across Raccoony! I just wanted to take the time to say you've created an awesome plug-in! It's excellent to see support for so many browsers. It's well laid out, easy to use, unobtrusive, and doesn't even force an icon in the toolbar like most other plugins do. It's excellent, you're excellent, and I thought you should know! :D
Thank you! Always glad to hear that other people like to use it n.n

This one's another bugfix release, and it's been a while in coming, sorry about that folks. Here's what's in this release:
Fixed DeviantArt "Open All in Tabs" duplication bug (#103)
Fixed HentaiFoundary bug where some submissions wouldn't be recognized by Raccoony (#93)
Fixed e621 bug with recognizing the artist/author (#104)
Fixed filename sanitization code to replace tilde characters in Chrome (#90)
Fixed issues with metadata scraping in FurAffinity (#83, #85, #90)
Updated some library dependencies
Special thanks to Eupeptic, who contributed the majority of the fixes for this release.
Firefox users should see the update automatically or after checking for updates, and Chrome users will hopefully get the update within the next week or two once it's gotten through the review process.
On a personal note, the main reason for the delay was a death in my immediate family in April which greatly impacted my desire to do much of anything for quite a while. I'm finally starting to pull out of that rut, fortunately, thanks to the help of friends and family. While the next few releases may be fairly bugfix heavy and feature-light, I do hope to get back in the groove of writing new features as well.

You are a SAINT. I have been looking for an extension like this one for an ETERNITY. I've had FA Extender and IB Downloader since their early days, but the latter is practically defunct and requires Waterfox Classic to use, which is increasingly unwise. I wanted to make a unified extension like this myself but it always seemed massively daunting. I'd take one peek at FA Extender's git page and immediately nope out, haha. Anyway, THANK YOU. Raccoony is a lifesaver. <3
Hey, thanks, that means a lot! Especially since I've been pretty slow on handling bugfixes lately, heh. Hoping to get that remedied soon though n.n

How do you use it i'm on a deviantart page with the chrome extension installed but it dosen't do anything
Might check the documentation to make sure that you understand how it works, and if you find that it's not working how you expect, you're welcome to ask for help or file a bug.
I do not provide individualized tech support for Raccoony, since this is a hobby project for me.

Having issues downloading, was going fine and ended up with a download error on an artist (FA) but the extension still works. What would cause this?
Any number of things could cause that, but you didn’t provide nearly enough detail for me to determine what that might be, and I’m not clairvoyant. I’d recommend filing a bug report here with more exact details about where you encountered the download error: https://github.com/Simon-Tesla/RaccoonyWebEx/issues

Not much to say about this release other than sorry that it took so long and that there’s not a whole lot in it. This year’s been a stressful one and it’s been hard to scrape together enough energy to do more programming after work.
Implemented queued Open all in tabs - now Raccoony waits to open a new set of tabs until after the previous set has completed opening. (#28)
Changed the default Open all in tabs to the new "one tab at a time" behavior. The old behavior can still be accessed via settings.
Fixed e621 plugin - author extraction now works (#73)

On InkBunny, the full size doesn't download unless I have wide enabled. It just downloads the preview image :< Is there a plan to fix this?
Logged a bug in my bug tracker: https://github.com/Simon-Tesla/RaccoonyWebEx/issues/69
That said, my time and motivation to work on Raccoony has been fairly low lately, so I don’t know when a fix will be forthcoming.

I cannot find any information on what the hotkeys are. Am I dumb? Also I saw there's two ways to save, right-click menu and otherwise? It would be nice to have a button to click on that shows up on the website.
Yeah, the documentation is something that needs to be improved; it’s on my todo list. Here’s the current list of hotkeys:
T - opens links in tabs
D - downloads the current image, if Raccoony has detected one
F - Shows the downloaded image in the folder it was saved to
O - Toggles the full-page view
You can download things via the hotkey, via the Raccoony on-page overlay (the semi-transparent raccoon icon in the corner of pages Raccoony supports), or via the right-click menu. The right-click menu will download any image, not just images on sites that Raccoony has official plugin support for.
The main reason that I don’t show an in-context UI that shows up on the page itself is that means that my plugin is dependent on the website not changing its UI around, which is a bad thing to assume. And for sites that Raccoony doesn’t directly support, the right-click menu is the easiest way to add an entry point for them using the WebExtension API, otherwise I’d have to request more permissions than I currently do.

so the extension allows me to open all pages in a HF gallery, but doesn't want to download. any ideas?
Assuming you mean hentai-foundry, the plugin works for me there. If you can provide more details about what you’re trying to do and what’s not working, I can take a closer look.
You’re also welcome to submit a bug to the bug tracker.
