I have many problems with the 40 year old fandom strawmom archetype but one of the biggest is that most 40 y/o women I've seen in fandom are very chill and just watch their shows in peace and would rather die than touch a discourse, the most aggressive shit stirrers I see tend to be people in their mid twenties power tripping about finally being adults and deciding to make that every teenager they encounter's problem

everytime I go onto your blog I go a little insane "it's either gay or it's feudalism" what doES THIS MEAN??
History, especially the history of sexuality, is incredibly fluid and hard to pin down! The very way we think about love and sex and social bonds is constantly changing.
One of my big historical interests is the middle ages, and when I was telling people about how different medieval gender and sexuality was, I got to talk about bed-sharing and kissing in the middle ages, where kissing someone was often done to show your superior status to them (like a king kissing a knight), and we talked about how people who WERE what we’d now consider gay or lesbian often used the mores of their era as a way to hide in plain sight because while some knights just DID platonically marry another knight and pledge to love him for the rest of their days and there was nothing sexual about it… sometimes it was sexual too.
But it’s really hard to tell. So at one point @trans-cuchulainn said, “and, like, I think it’s gay, but it could also just be. feudalism. so.“
And that kind of dorkery and history and ambiguity is RIGHT UP MY ALLEY.
