Not the original anon but I do agree Damien & Shayne are probably not as close anymore but still friends cause there was a Smosh Mouth episode where Shayne said (about Damien) 'he's one of my be - closest friends' or something like that (i.e. changed the word)
I'm guessing over time they've just grown apart as one does. Damien's not had a great time over the last few years - all his diagnoses must have been hard to learn about and then learn to deal with, plus a breakup with someone at work. Any sane person would probably start overhauling their life and trying to inspect what they want to do that's going to make them happier. And VA is clearly where his heart lies, so he probably is just spending less time at Smosh and we know Court and Shayne are full-time and spending so long there not just as cast but making integral creative decisions.
It's probably nothing toxic or sad or dramatic, it's just... you know, adult men getting older and not sharing as much in common anymore.
yes i noticed shayne saying that too! and small things like referring to the times he’s spent time with damien in the past tense as if he doesn’t do that much anymore, e.g. a while back you’d catch him saying something like “when we hang out” when talking about damien, but more recently i’ve heard shayne say “when we would hang out” or similar, which suggests it doesn’t happen so much anymore. i know a lot of people will think i’m reading into it too much (and i could well be!) but i also believe language is powerful and therefore meaningful, and shayne seems to me the kind of person that values this.
i really hope nothing came between them and that it truly is just time and growth. they’re both absolutely killin’ it in their respective fields atm! damien has been open about his health and wellbeing so absolutely that’s a huge factor, but the break up with someone at work was something i hadn’t really thought about; it’s a fair point.
i guess i wasn’t completely off-base for feeling like that last shayne and damien show video came across like a final salute to how their friendship was. it feels like a new chapter was started recently in that respect.
as much as i want to hold onto the shaymien that could make each other ugly laugh and seemed flawlessly in tune with one another, i’m excited to see what’s in store for them individually, and i’m hoping that we still get to see them together more too, no matter what that may look like :)

tbh this might be controversial but as someone VERY pro palestine so many fellow anti zionists are out of touch as fuck.
first: stop treating bisan like she's beyonce she just wants to be a normal person safe at home. of course give her a platform and a voice but stop acting like she's the next taylor swift that very clearly makes her uncomfortable.
second: a shit ton of yall are out of touch about the boycotts. of course, please boycott as much as you can but if youre harassing a starbucks or mcdonalds worker who doesn't even want to work there and is on the brink of homelessness, who inst privileged enough to just quit, you are not the good person you think you are. just because you are financially okay doesn't mean other people can just cut their only source of income especially with how bad the economy is. that's helping no one.
2.5: PLEASE stop telling people under the age of 18 who depend on their parents (who don't respect boycotts) that they should starve instead of eating if their parents get mcdonalds or dominos? like of course boycotting is one of if not the most important resource, but those kids arent CHOOSING to break boycotts thats not their choice some parents just don't listen. kids need to fucking eat and no sane activist or palestinean would want ANOTHER child to go without food.

The amount of digging, stalking and over analyzing that required for yall to now say “it was obvious” and “we were right all along” is one of the reasons they never went public with their relationship before actual marriage, just like Joey Richter and Lauren Lopez getting engaged and Keith and Becky habersberger out of nowhere telling they had a baby.
I’ve been a fan of smosh for like 12 years and the shipping (yes, I know they said they don’t care, but even if they said to stop yall wouldn’t anyway) and nitpicking every single interaction between cast members (I’m not even gonna get into the fanfics and inappropriate comments) were why I kept my interaction with the fandom to a minimum.
Im happy they’re married, really. I’ve been happy for other influencers before. The issue was never denial. I did wish it was a prank because I knew this exact response was going to happen.
This feels like fans were trying to out them when they weren’t ready. If they truly felt safe making the relationship public, they wouldn’t have gone to lengths they did to hide it. Poor Courtney probably had an engagement ring that she couldn’t wear because of fan reaction. I mean, I remember seeing proof of them together through reflections on a glass! It isn’t normal.
A similar situation has happened in a fandom before. Remember when fans were speculating about a Malec wedding in the shadowhunter finale? Finding every single piece of evidence on social media, bts footage, etc? And in the ending the characters got married? But you know why that wasn’t weird? They were fictional characters, made to entertain us, with story arcs. No actual person was at stake.
And you know, I love smosh and obviously this rant isnt directed towards the fans who are just surprised and happy for them (which I am too, congrats to them), but it still bother me.
Publicly, they were coworkers in a comedy channel who made jokes, played characters, played games, etc. Smosh has never been about romantic relationships between cast members and it saddens me that the fans made most of it about shipping when they have so much more to offer.
The point is, we are not entitled to information about their lives and speculate about it. Too bad this can’t be a learning experience because congrats, yall were “right all along”.

I have never before experienced mind games played upon me like I experienced today. 12 hour parasocial panic mode lockdown because two people who I do not know personally decided to launch a full scale attack on my psyche. Whether it is true or a prank, I think it is a great wake-up call for being too parasocial. This shit shook me to the point where I had to drink meds for a headache that I got, and now I also can't go to sleep, as my mind is racing.
These are strangers on the internet, not actual people in my day-to-day life. Maybe it is not bizarre to react like this, but it is unhealthy and inappropriate, especially since it is an involuntary reaction, and it needs to be acknowledged and dealt with. Otherwise, it can lead to serious issues.
Obviously being excited for someone is great, but there's a healthy line drawn there somewhere that I feel like I (and probably many others) are crossing.
