bell hooks mentioned going through a time in her life where she was severely depressed and suicidal and how the only way she got through it was through changing her environment: She surrounded her home with buddhas of all colors, Audre Lorde’s A Litany for Survival facing her as she wakes up, and filling the space she saw everyday with reinforcing objects and meaningful books. She asks herself each day, “What are you going to do today to resist domination?” I also really liked it when she said that in order to move from pain to power, it is crucial to engage in “an active rewriting of our lives.”

Hey btw, here's a piece of life advice:
If you know what you'd have to do to solve a problem, but you just don't want to do it, your main problem isn't the problem itself. Your problem is figuring out how to get yourself to do the solution.
If your problem is not eating enough vegetables, the problem you should be solving is "how do I make vegetables stop being yucky". If your problem is not getting enough exercise, the problem you should be solving is "how do I make exercise stop sucking ass". You're not supposed to just be doing things that are awful and suck all the time forever, you're supposed to figure out how to make it stop being so awful all the time.
I used to hate wearing sunscreen because it's sticky and slimy and disgusting and it feels bad and it smells bad, so I neglected to wear it even if I needed to. Then I found one that isn't like that, and doesn't smell and feel gross. Problem solved.
There is no correct way to live that's just supposed to suck and feel bad all the time. You're allowed to figure out how to make it not suck so bad.

a weird thing is that we got waves of people going "who cares if its cringe or youre annoying! have fun!" but no one really learned how to accept the fact that some people will find you annoying or think your art or your work or posts or anyrhing sucks and thats ok. rather it just became a weird "if people think youre annoying theyre just morally bad. let people enjoy things!". like no i think this yes man only biome sucks and people are allowed to not like artstyles and shows and media and other things

@bisexual-neco-arc "rehabilitative justice" don't mean that Nobody will be detained and prevented from re-entering society; instead it seeks to
treat prisoner's more humanely
create programs that help prisoner's prepare for reintegration to society
allow more opportunities for prisoner's to seek reintegration to society (like abolition of Mandatory minimum sentencing especially wrt time served, instead allowing case by case considerations of charges)
One vision of what this Might look like in regards to child predators; someone is convicted of sexually abusing a child. They're sentenced to [time frame] and sent to a facility that deals with rehabilitating sexual offenders. During that time, they go through [program(s)] aimed at treating [the cause of their offenses] and at preventing future offenses once released. After [time frame] they're released from the facility and continue to be followed up with to help prevent recidivism.
Unrelated to the actual idea of rehabilitative justice but I want to point out; in terms of "presenting an open ended question". saying "what the fuck are we supposed to do then buddy, do you want us to just [bad course of action]" doesn't really come across as a question so much as an accusation.

Too real, I see this all the time. Joking about how certain people in prison should be taken care of or molested. Two wrongs doesn’t make a right
